  1. I'll be 3 months post-op on Nov. 5th. Has anyone tried Veggie Straws/Chips? Are these and other low fat/carb snacks okay to eat in moderations? I realize these are empty calories and slider foods. I don't eat them every day.

Veggie Straws and 100 Calorie Chips

Thanks, Ponchik! Where did you buy them?
  3. Rossjr, you should have a surgery date very soon if you've completed the 6 months of weight management. After I completed Active Health, everything moved very swiftly. Actually, I don't even remember them submitting my case to BCBS. The patient coordinator called me with a date to see the surgeon, a date for the class, and a surgery date all at once. Depending on your surgeon's surgery schedule, you could have your surgery date 2 weeks after seeing him. You'll need those 2 weeks for your pre-op diet. Handle all of your personal business now and enjoy your favorite foods because your life is about to change...for better. I was off work for 6 weeks. Take it easy post-op. You'll be very lethargic at first, but you will get better.
  4. Hi, ladies! I'm also a patient of Transformations. I had my surgery on Aug. 5th. I've lost 60 lbs and seem to be stalling now. Dr. Erin Cummins is my surgeon. I see someone has Dr. Carroll. I've heard a lot of good things about him. I wish you all the best of luck throughout this process. You'll be on the losers' bench before you know it. Good luck!

    August Post Ops

I think we had our surgeries on the same day, August 5th. How many lbs have you lost? Congratulations on your weight loss. I'm down 33 lbs so far.
  8. I had RNY on August 5th and was discharged today with an oxygen tank. I have previously been diagnosed with sarcoidosis, but never required oxygen or steroids. I've been in remission over 8 years. My blood pressure was also elevated my entire stay in the hospital. I'm currently on 3 bp pills...one can't be crushed because it's a time-released capsule. Help!!! Has anyone else seen/heard of this problem with post-op RNY patients?

  13. I'm not a very big fan of protein powders, but I've found Body Fortress' Chocolate Whey Protein Shakes to be delish! I purchased a jug from Wal-Mart for $15.00+. It has 30 grams of protein per serving. Has anyone else tried Body Fortress products?

    Body Fortress Whey Protein Shakes

Best wishes to you as well. I can barely stomach milk, period. So, I have to stick to the chocolate flavored. My surgeon didn't give me a specific amount to lose.

    In Need of a Mentor

Wow, ladies! It's a great feeling knowing there are people here from southern Mississippi. I don't feel so alone in this process. Please continue to update us on your progress and post pics. I should be joining you ladies on the losers' bench soon; so, save me a seat!

    In Need of a Mentor

No, I don't have one yet. I'll complete health mgmt program tomorrow. So, hopefully they'll go ahead and schedule my EKG and Endo tests.
  20. I got the results of my psych eval today. Glad it's over. I've also had 6 months of health management that BCBS requires, ABG, pulmonary clearance, and sleep study (pending results). I'm just wondering if my surgeon will use the EKG from my sleep study instead of having me to do another one. This is a very tedious process. Jumping through these hoops hasn't been easy at ALL. Pre-operative fees have really taken a toll on me financially. Hopefully, I will get a surgery date soon. I'm ready to begin this new chapter of my life. BTW, this forum is A W E S O M E!

Getting Closer to the Big Dance!

Kristlynngirl, thanks for the clarification. I'm just trying to figure out how close I am before my case is actually submitted for insurance approval. I believe I'm half way through the process. I tell ya, I've never been to the doctor this much in my life. The multi-disciplinary approach (with doctors) does make me feel a lot more comfortable before being rolled into the OR.

    Newbie!

Hi, ladies and gents! I'm basically a newbie to this site. I started the RNY process in January. I've had my initial appt. with some lab work. I was informed that I'm anemic based on lab results. Now I've been ordered to do an anemic profile. I've been scheduled to do a sleep study, pulmonary function test, and psych eval. My insurance is BCBS. I'm having to pay cash for several pre-op labs (that sucks). I think I'm on a pretty steady path to have surgery this summer. My waiting period is 6 months. I'm already 4 months down. PCP will give me clearance once he gets the final results of all lab work and tests. I'm kind of nervous about this whole process because I don't want any set-backs with insurance denials. I would greatly appreciate any support I can get from you guys. Thanks...
