Anybody have trouble with eating brown rice. I'm going to make shrimp fried rice for my family tonight for dinner and I'm wondering how I'd react too the rice. I'll probably just eat some of the shrimp. But I was wondering if anyone else had tried brown rice yet

Today I partnered with a friend of mine as a walking buddy. She is struggling to lose weight she gained during pregnancy. It's been five weeks since I had my RNY. Still having lot of discomfort while eating. The only thing that has gotten better is my ability to drink liquids quicker. Even yogurt is tricky, some days it goes down smooth and great, then the very next day it feels uncomfortable in my baby tummy. Anybody else have this inconsistency issue?

I've lost 50 pounds in 30 days and I wish it were going a little slower. I feel very weak and tired and can't get enough nutrition. My doctor did a metabolism test on me and it turns out that I hAve one of the highest metabolisms that one can have. But due to living with prediabetes and insulin levels that were sky high it inhibited my metabolic status and I continued to be a weight gainer regardless if my weight loss efforts. RNY surgery was my answer for success and getting my metabolism functioning properly. Now my insulin level is normal and the weight is coming off quickly but not without its share of troubles. Exhaustion and weakness are tough.

I'm four and a half weeks post op and mostly eat Greek yogurt. Some days food sits well and other days the food just won't stay down. It seems that if something doesn't agree with me than I throw everything up for the rest of the day except liquids. I am happy about my weight loss as I am down 50 pounds, but I am anxious to start incorporating different foods into my diet.

Statistics show that there is a 100% recovery from PCOS after you have this surgery. It doesn't go away in a night though, be patient and don't compare yourself to anybody else. You are an individual so expect your results to individual. Just know that PCOS will no longer bother you anymore very, very soon.

    Fabulous February Post-Op's

I am 22 days post op and I have struggled to get in 500 calories a day. I know I need more. Yesterday I spent 7 hours in the ER with a kidney infection. I didn't eat anything since the day before. Now I'm struggling to start food again. At about 3:00 this morning I had part of a Greek yogurt and just now I ate 4 saltine crackers. I can get fluids down easy enough, but I cannot stomach protein shakes. How are you all getting in sufficient calories and protein? Never thought I would be concerned aboutvesting enough food, LOL.

    I had no idea!

Hang in there. Many people shared advice with me for getting through this stage. Now it's my turn to share. If you feel like chewing on something just chew it and savor it and crunch away but don't swallow it, spit it out. Keep busy. My doctor told me to "Find something, before something finds you." This is true because most of us have addicted personalities. We have to say goodbye to our comforting friend named food and replace it with something healthy or we are at risk for falling into unhealthy addictions. The pre-operative phase of this journey is one of the most difficult. Don't be hard on yourself for eating pickles. That was actually a good choice. Just keep moving forward and be positive. This will be all behind you VERY soon.

So excited about an app that I am using. MyNetDiary. I log in the food that I'm eating and it keeps track if protein and calorie intake. I'm working on getting more calories and protein, and this app really helps me. Plus, I want to get in the habit of keeping a food journal now so it will stick with me later. Many nutritionists and weight loss experts recommend food journaling. I've also been enjoying browsing for mummy healthy recipes on pinterest. I can't believe all the delicious things you can do with cous cous and cauliflower!!

    Going out to eat!

I was given a key ring that explains the surgery and asks if it's okay that I order off the kids menu. However I do not use it. Have you stern the items on most kid menus? Not good stuff for us. I have found it easiest to order soups or seafood. Take home left overs. You can get 3-4 meals out of it.
