What ya eating tonight?
lmcgloon replied to OleHippieGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It must be the same Brooks because I went to college in Oneonta. You're right...so delicious! Brings back memories! -
no. only hot cereal like low sugar oatmeal. No cold cereal until at least 6 weeks, and even then it needs to be healthy cereal soaked in milk. Don't risk the discomfort at only 3 weeks out, your pouch is still sensitive and it can't digest fiber yet. I had the same question when I was early out because I wanted crunch.

Tonight I had 3 chicken "nuggets" with some mustard. I had some egg salad for lunch today that didn't sit well, I think it's probably because it wasn't made with lowfat mayo -

I like the Johnsonville Turkey Cheddarwursts. 10g protein each plus low fat. I eat them plain, sometimes with a little mustard. No bread though!! -

Where are you from? There was a Brooks BBQ near where I went to college in Upstate NY -
When did people start eating crackers and what kind did you try? I need something to put my laughing cow cheese or hummus on. I don't want to push boundaries though, I'm only 4 weeks out

I haven't been able to find the Atkins meals in my grocery stores yet but I've been loving the Smart Ones, there's a few really tasty ones that are quite high in Protein, and they're the perfect portion. -

Right? I loved them, I still think about them all the time!! I've never had any surgeries or medical procedures done before so I was kind of nervous, but they were fantastic. I'm feeling good, no complaints really, I've been quite lucky. and you? -

Today was kind of a crummy day. Had to wake up extra early for a few Dr. appointments. Since apparently your fertility sky rockets post surgery I decided to get the IUD birth control since it lasts up to 5 years. I'm still in Grad school so the hubs and I wanted to put off starting a family for a few more years anyway. Do any of you out there have the Mirena? Oh my goodness...I was NOT expecting it to be so painful when she put it in!! I cried out "Well, now I know I'm not ready to have a baby!" Hahahah she got a kick out of that. Anyway, the discomfort pretty much lingered throughout the day and felt like wicked intense menstrual symptoms (sorry to the gentlemen on this thread!!) Tried to nap this afternoon before class since I didn't have to work today, but didn't end up happening. Had class from 5-10pm, and it was one of those nights that draaaaagged. I also forgot to pack my dinner so when I got to class and went to take out my dinner I realized I had forgotten it so I had to dig around for change and get something out of the vending machine...yuck! I was able to find some hummus chips that are relatively healthy, but pretty scarce on the protein side. The dining hall at my University is also seriously lacking in the healthy options which is a bummer. Anyway, I can't believe I'm still awake at almost midnight considering how tired I've been today. I intend to sleep in tomorrow, and since we're supposed to be getting a big snow storm here in the Northeast I may not even leave my pajamas! Thanks for letting me vent, ya'll. -
I was lucky enough to get mine the morning of, too. They have me the hospital undies & I had to wear what felt like diaper sized pads but they said its common and they don't think about it.

You're brave! Did it all go down okay? Does Subway have light mayo? -
Oh yeah! In your neck and chest and upper stomach you can definitely tell!! Congrats!

I'm 6 weeks out and (luckily, thankfully) have never experienced dumping. Only about 50% of people do. It's a blessing & a curse because it makes you feel invincible. You will inevitably feel discomfort at some point, we all have, but like my nutritionist told me-- just consider yourself one of the lucky ones

I never pureed anything either. Well once I pureed some turkey with a little mustard but it was awful. I just ate soft foods and chewed till I couldn't chew any more tsxo- sometimes eating is uncomfortable and I don't always want to, but generally no discomfort. How far out are you?
