I've done ground beef/burgers without the buns without issue but I haven't has steak yet. I'm 10 weeks and I think I want to wait until I'm at least 12 to try steak, but it will be filet mignon when I do because it's the most tender (and delicious )

My personal trainer kicked my hiney today!! We worked on arms (I told her that's my number one goal- No bat wings! I'm too young for that haha) and now they feel like jello!! She said I am very strong, which I found surprising lol, and that if I wanted to I could probably compete in weight lifting competitions. This made me laugh hard because I thought she was being sarcastic, but she said I was chest pressing 70lbs (which I guess is a lot) and if I worked at it I could lift a lot more. I will not be competing in any Strongman competitions hahahah -

My doc always told me to aim for an A1C under 7 and glucose between 100-120. I was taken off my Metformin (diabetes meds) at discharge from RNY i December and haven't checked my sugar since Christmas. I probably should, especially since I have an appointment with my PCP soon, but I know my sugars are in check. -

I know how you feel. My dr put me on the "lifestyle plan" which is like, back to eating regular food, within reason, and since he cleared me for this I've had 2 quesadillas, tortilla chips, and a low fat english muffin. Granted, I didn't eat a whole portion of any, but it's still bothersome to me because I was really good about avoiding carbs. I still stay away from rice and pasta and bread, but I feel like eating tortilla chips/wraps is wrong. I know this surgery wasn't to make us feel guilty for food choices and there will come a time in our life where even with our little pouch we don't feel restricted, but it makes me nervous about how I will make choices later if I'm making these choices now. I think part of it was that I was on the such restricted protein only diet for so long, I just wanted to eat something "normal" for a change. I'm with you, today is a new day, a new week, and we are stronger than our food urges. Best of luck!

Oh my gosh, me too! I'm 3 months and I'm lucky if I remember to get half in each day. I talked to my doc about it the other day and she suggested setting reminders on your phone, so I did, and so far it hasn't really helped. I was so good about them the first 2 months, I need to get back in that routine!

Tonight I'm making Philly cheesesteak-style sloppy joes. It's ground turkey with peppers and onions and melted provolone on top on a whole wheat roll (for hubby, no roll for me) Here's the recipe: http://www.emilybites.com/2012/01/philly-cheesesteak-sloppy-joes.html#more -

I eat the smart ones. Early on before you're allowed pasta or rice, I recommend the roast turkey with mashed potatoes, mesquite bbq chicken, or the meatloaf. They're high in protein and soft. -
Oh wow, how cool! I never knew about that. The power chicken hummus bowl sounds good! Thanks for sharing

I got to Panera quite a bit as there's one by my work and their options aren't wonderful when you're first out. Try the broccoli cheddar soup. It's a little bit higher in calories, but it has good protein. Since you're only 9 days out you really won't eat much anyway, and don't eat any of the big broccoli chunks! You can also get a chicken salad sandwich and eat just the chicken salad, but chew chew chew because it has grapes in it. Hope these work for you as they have for me in the past.

Got put on the "lifestyle" plan today from my doc, don't need to go see him or the nutritionist for 4 more months!! They said everything is right on track for me. Down 44lbs in 10 weeks, no complications, no dehydration (even though I only drink approx 32oz of water a day--on a good day). I had a chicken and cheese quesadilla (1/2 for lunch & 1/2 for dinner), felt great to eat a normal portion of a normal food. I need to be better about taking my vitamins though, I am terrible at remembering to get them all in. Glad to see all the good news getting shared around here today, hope others are doing well -
I'm not using the machine. I used it for about 3 days when I was pre-op, the day of my surgery, and not once since. I found it uncomfortable

I think I've had sleep apnea for years, but I wasn't formally diagnosed until I had to do the sleep study pre-op. I used the cpap machine for about 3 days and then I found I was sleeping worse with that than I was with apnea (for the record I apparently had "mild" sleep apnea so I don't know if that makes a difference). My Dr. tried to tell me to give it some time and I would see results, but I thought it was uncomfortable. I brought it with my to surgery (my doc required it) and haven't used it since. I have noticed a difference in my sleep. I always slept on my stomach and now I find that I prefer sleeping on my back. Plus, I feel better in the mornings, and rarely get that groggy afternoon tired feeling like I used to preop. I'm down a little over 40lbs, and 10 weeks postop

no. Sometimes I "cheat" and drink a small sip of liquid after I eat to rinse my mouth. Basically the reason you don't want to though is because you'll 1) get full off the liquids and not be able to get protein/food in and 2) if you drink after you eat it can flush your food out of your pouch too fast so you don't get to absorb the food and you don't feel full as long. Taking a couple of small sips won't ruin you.

worm-- love the new pic, lookin' good! I had to do journals for 3 months too, and I was TERRIBLE at them

I've had decaf quite a few times. I accidentally forgot to order decaf once and it made me really hyper. No tummy troubles but I felt buzzed hahaha -

1) Don't leave a note or leave while he's gone. Unless there are extenuating circumstances like abuse, that is not the proper way to end a relationship let alone a marriage. 2) If you're unhappy, talk to him. Marriage is hard, I mean really hard. I've been married for 3 years (together for 6) and we've had our fair share of hard times. Open communication is key, if you feel like you can't talk to him about the things you're feeling, find a professional who can help you. You need to be honest with yourself and your spouse. 3) If you're just nervous and worried about how things are going to be post-op, take deep breaths. A lot will change, that's for sure, but most of it is for the better. You will feel happier about yourself, and, if your husband is supportive, he will be proud, too. Has he been supportive of your decision so far? It's completely normal to be nervous about what the future holds, but don't leave your spouse because you're afraid of what might be. Only you know the dynamic of your relationship and if being with your husband truly makes you unhappy, then it probably is best to divorce, but I can tell you this: I thought (quite frequently) about splitting w/ my husband pre-op, but I've come to realize, that it wasn't him I was unhappy with, it was me, and my life and marriage have improved immensely in the 2 months I've been post-op
