A bit TMI... Time of Month. :-(
Sheddingtummy replied to Catgyrl68's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started the night before! Most nurses reacted by saying it seems to happen all the time with no issues- I was grossed out because they catch urine to monitor output and it was not pretty but they can handle worst things! Nurses are sent from God! I too wore hospital panties initially and had them on what felt like the whole time. -

My nut told me everyone is different in the amount they can eat and said I am on target with 1/2 cup-1 cup! Seems like a lot but that's what I was told! I also started soft foods and am completely surprised how well I am tolerating the non-liquids! Also I am down 18 pounds from DOS on 2 week post op! -

Back to work- WHEN?
Sheddingtummy replied to sleevemeup's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was off two (today was my first day back). I felt physically able to return a couple days ago, but after today I have identified the challenge of focusing on work and food/liquid requirements- it is a challenge! -

January 2013 Post Op
Sheddingtummy replied to ready2smile's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I sure will! I go back to the Nut tomorrow and I am hoping for some good direction and reassurance. I have followed the guidelines and sample menu they provided fairly strictly, but we'll see! Thank you Hun! -
January 2013 Post Op

I am down 15 lbs from the day I returned home from hospital- starting weight 260, today's weight 245. It gas gone slower this second week then the first- i am going to hit the treadmill a little harder! My new stomach is not bothered by anything and I am a little scared about that! I mean, the first couple of days I would eat maybe a nibble of Jello and feel extremely full, but by day 4 and still now I really never feel full- HOWEVER I do listen to my body and stop myself at the portion that I feel is appropriate but this is scary to me! For example I can eat 4 oz of jello of Greek yogurt, 2 oz of malt o meal, 4-6 oz of tomato soup with out problems at all, getting in all liquid is never a problem, I drink 6oz of Protein shakes without issues- is this normal! I was expecting bites and nibbles only and that is not the case! I am not sure if this experience will change once I am able to eat thicker texture but I am nervous as I want to utilize this tool to the fullest! -

Great so far thank you! I still feel like I need further assurance to making sure I am doing things right with the Vitamins schedule, Protein and Water requirements but I feel it will come and hearing everyone else's stories and posts help a lot! I have my two week visit on Wednesday and I can't wait to get the hardware removed (staples are the root of all discomfort right now)! My recovery has been very smooth sailing so far though! Two previous c-sections and I feel they are very similar experiences! How do I start a threat to ask a question? Still trying to navigate and I am using an I phone so maybe that option is not possible??!! My only concern is I feel I am able to eat way too much, and I want to get a better idea of how much others were able to consume at this point of post-op. Thanks for asking Teka! Feels great to have support! I live 2 hours away from closest support group so this is a great community for me! -
2week post op liquid diet
Sheddingtummy replied to brattyAsh's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I could feel hunger on day four- the nutritionist said it was because swelling was going down. I also noticed being able to eat a lot more (2-4 ounces of applesauce or Greek yogurt!). I go for my 2 week post op on Wednesday so hopefully I get reassurance that this is normal! My husband had surgery a couple of years ago and he was very similar to how you are explaining- not able to eat even an ounce of food and difficulty getting in all Fluid requirements. Everyone is different I guess, I just hope it doesn't interfere with my weight loss! -

2week post op liquid diet
Sheddingtummy replied to brattyAsh's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am currently On full liquid diet. My two week post-op is Wednesday and I am hoping for some texture! I have followed the guidelines that my nutritionist has provided and i mainly eat malt o meal, sf jello and pudding, applesauce, sf Popsicles, strained soups but mostly tomato soup. The list also says baby food but I am creeped out by this. After the first week I tried instant mash potatoes because I found myself getting hungry and this was recommended by my nutritionist. I have tolerated everything just fine, even though I sometimes feel I am able to eat more than I should be able to! Good luck! I also found a lot of ideas thrown around in the recipe and food threads. -
I just had surgery on Jan 2nd, and my husband had it a couple years ago. I know the discouragement that he may feel being that he wants it bad, but it can't be a competition between the two of you. If you are going to be successful long term you need to support each other. Just going through it- it would be impossible to operate my household if my husband and I had surgery on or around the same day! Someone needs to be there to pick up extra slack while you recover and vise versa. Good luck!
