Thanks so much. The doc was very nice but it felt terrible to go over all my past failures at weight loss. Had to be honest though.

33 (almost 34) year old female looking for a mentor
Kat23 posted a topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hey there! I'm in the middle of the process but scheduled for RNY in April. I was looking for a female mentor who had 120-150 to lose and around my age. Thanks for looking and hopefully being that person! -Kat -
Psych assessment is done! No problem. Less than 45 minutes I answering questions and he is approving me. Hubs as well.

Yea... I'm getting my kitchen ready too. Each trip to the grocery store I pick up a few things so its not so overwhelming. We bought smaller dishes, glasses, big kid sippy cups, and smaller silverware. We've started trying Protein shakes....isopure is good for the hubs but bad for me. I am sitting in psych's waiting room. My husband is in there now and I'm next. His surgery is 3 weeks from today....my stomach is flip flopping now that we are getting so close. Excited and nervous. How are you all doing with your appointments?

So, I'm pre op but have been trying things out. Ive been using isopure zero carb vanilla powder. It gives me some pretty significant intestinal distress. (Sorry TMI). Is this a problem for anyone else? Is there protein that will sit better? I was hoping for a vanilla so I could flavor it with SF Torani. Thanks!

I'm four days after you! Seemed so far away but now it's coming fast!

My doc recommends 2 flint stones complete and B12 in the morning. Flints tones are cheap and I bought the B12 sublinquals when it was BOGO free at my supermarket. So....very cheap there for vitamins. After 3 weeks, we start calcium citrate. I chose chewables I found at the vitamin shoppe for about $15 for a months worth. Doc wants us to take 2 in the afternoon and 2 in the evening. If you can't find an affordable chewable, our NUT has told us that you could dissolve the calcium citrate tab in water to take it if you can't tolerate swallowing it. Hope that helps.

The world according to eggface....she is 8 years (I think) post op. Great blog. recipes, ideas, info....great resource.
-
No she doesn't...she has an explanation on her site somewhere explaining why and gives a link to help you calculate calories.
-
Eggface has tons of protein ice cream recipes. I haven't tried any yet but they sound awesome.

Our first appointment of our series is today! We have finished the 6 month diet. Nutrition class is today. 38 days until husbands surgery and then 5 weeks later is mine. This has seemed so far off....now it's actually happening! Seems so strange!

Absolutely! I think this is our best chance at success and a fully "new" life! I'm thinking there may be extra challenges AND successes doing this with a spouse....we will see. Maybe we should keep in touch! Happy for you guys too!
