I had my RNY Gastric bypass on January 7th of this year and it felt I had finally found the solution I was always searching for. I began preparing to have the surgery the September prior and it felt like every moment that went by I was just waiting for the day to start my life over; like I was only half present during holidays, dates, or work and half counting down the hours. I got down to about 100 lbs this past June, just in time for my birthday; but, ill admit I hadn't been consistently playing by the rules, I started smoking again, drinking alcohol, picking at foods when I'm cooking, not taking vitamins, not exercising and loading up on the carbs. My weight loss had stopped and it seemed like I had lost all motivation to get it up and running again. It wasn't until last Monday that I was re awoken. A week ago I watched my boyfriend have the same surgery, with the same surgeon and later recover in the same room. I remembered how hard starting out was for me and I knew that I needed to be strong for both of us. I feel alive again, and I won't dare lose focus again. I bought new vitamins that I have been taking vigilantly, drinking my water and making better food choices. I'm still working on the exercise but ill get there. I'm grateful I got the opportunity to change my life and I'm even more grateful that I get to experience this journey with the person I care for most.

I know I'm not supposed to drink but I have been and nothing has been happening. I don't get sick, I don't have any issues getting drunk fast. I have 2 drinks and that's it. Is it really that bad?

I know what my dr is going to say but I was just curious if anyone tried anyway, I haven't gotten sick from anything so it kinda seems like all the stuff I'm supposed to do doesn't effect me. I still make sure I'm eating the right things and staying active but if I have had things accidentally with too much sugar I've been fine, I just don't get it

I'm almost 2 months post op but I feel like the last few weeks I have been able to eat less food than I did earlier on, I feel like I'm getting full faster. Should I be concerned?

Anyone using the app my fitness pal? I love it and I'm looking for more friends to add! -
Thanks for your support everyone, I was able to buy some good food options for me for the rest of this week. I reached out to my boyfriend for need of support and I think he's really trying, he's been eating healthier with me and making sure I'm alright. It's just tough because I'm so sensitive and this experience can be as difficult as it is rewarding. I'm going to try to find a new therapist and make more of an effort to find support groups.

I'm so frustrated, I feel like I'm not getting any support from my boyfriend or my family, no one gets that the transition post op is very difficult on me. I know people can eat and live however they want but I was told there would always be food in this house I can have and there isn't; instead there is a carvel ice cream cake shaped like a football, 4lbs of chicken wings, and cheesecake. Lately all I do is lay in my bed and cry because I don't want to even look at the food in my kitchen and I don't have enough money to buy anything myself this week. I don't know if this was worth it I'm down 33lbs but I don't look different and I just feel like no one cares at all.

What I'm irritated about is my family who said they were behind me on this and are not

Thanks everyone I'm just trying to be cautious I've been exercising daily but I've been having a tough time with eating slowly and drinking enough water

Today is my first full day at home since my surgery the 7th. I've been following the full liquid diet plan and I'm trying to stay as hydrated as possible. I walked on the treadmill for 10 minutes 2x today and I'm hoping to be able to do it again but it's difficult to get out of bed right now, my stomach is uneasy after dinner, I had cream of celery soup strained and sugar free chocolate pudding. Just wanted to share.

Congrats on your surgery as well, I'm hanging in there but my incisions hurt more today than they have earlier this week, without any drainage or discoloration but I've stopped the Vicodin and already lost 10lbs. How are you feeling?

Yesterday was my surgery and it went really well, the surgeon was in and out in 45 minutes and there were no complications. My stomach is sore but I'm not really nauseous. I've been taking walks around the hospital and I just started my sips of water. Today I meet with my surgeon to discuss after care, my psychologist and my dietician, just for an overview. I can't wait to go home and lay with my kitty.
