I need to talk to some one

I agree with this. If you are throwing up with foods you need to see your surgeon. Good Luck

I need to talk to some one

I know that when trying new food items you should only add one new item a day so then you know what food make you ill. Some people take longer to tolerate certain foods. Do you have pain after swallowing? Nausea?? I get nauseated randomly so i use Zofran sublingual works wonders. What stage of food are you at??

    Syntrax Nectar

I have prime and I don't pay shipping and get my order within 2 business days. Works great for me because the closest vitamin store is an hour away...

    Catheter?

The catheter doesn't hurt when removed. What keeps the cath in place is a balloon filled with saline solution. They withdraw the solution and pull it out. Plus you will have other more discomforting pains then the cath.

    Catheter?

Mine was put on for surgery and I had it for a little over 24 hours. DIdn't bug me at all and previous ones have. I was very thankful for it as I had bad nausea and was knocked on my a$$ for 48 hours from it (due to the fentaynl) they had given me. I have read that some didn't have cath's. Every doctor and program is different.
  6. I take a Multi vit, B-1, B-12 in the morning. At noon I take chewable calcium citrate 500 with vitamin D, and supper I take another multi-vit and at bedtime another calcium.
  7. I was nauseated for days but from the Fentanyl they gave me for pain. My surgeon switched the med and I started to feel better. We had a long discussion regarding nausea because this was a fear of mine. I had a scopalamine patch and was given zofran, regaln and phenergan as needed. I never threw up just was nauseated. I still use Zofran as I continue to have occasional bouts of nausea after eating. It is random so one never knows what will cause me to be nauseous You can throw up- I did once when I was home- the great thing is you no longer have that stomach acid and enzymes, bile that usually comes up. .
  8. I can use protein drinks for the rest of my life if I want and will probably do that as I use them for a meal. I am suppose to be between 65-75 grams a day.
  9. I had mine done in Park Rapids Minnesota at St. Joesph's Area Health Services. They have an amazing program. Posted a link on here for you to check it out. http://www.weightmanagementmn.com/
  10. My first two weeks were rough but by the end of week three I felt great. Very happy I took 6 weeks off.
  11. I took 6 weeks. I also am an RN in a hospital and work 12 hour shifts. So happy I took the time off because by the time I got back to work I had everything down and was feeling great. I suggest taking as much time as you can. at least two weeks if you have a desk job but if you can take longer go for it. It is alot to learn initially and you don't always feel so great after discharge.

    Extreme weakness

My first question is are you on any blood pressure medications?? My second question is how is your liquid count today? You could be dehydrated, you might want to try drinking some chicken broth. This works well to restore some normal balance. You can feel weak and dizzy with low sodium and dehydration. If you don't start feeling better there is not harm in contacting your primary doctor. If you are taking medications they may need to be adjusted.

    Portions again

No dont force yourself. Just eat what you can. Somedays I eat two or maybe even a snack and somedays it is one meal with numerous protein drinks. Stop eating when you are full..
  14. I would do protein drinks that are low in carb and sugar and then one meal a day ie chicken, or fish and a light salad. Make sure you decrease calories and start moving.

    Jump start?

At least make it diet, get rid of the sugar. I still drank diet pop up until surgery and have had no issues..

    2 weeks Post op

I made lots of eggs, chicken in a can, oatmeal, yogurt, cottage cheese, tuna, soup. I also made fish and used the Atkins bake mix to make low carb no sugar pancakes with sugar free syrup... I would search online for recipes

    help!

It happens we get relaxed and can all easily slip into old habits. Moderation is what you have to remember with indulgences. So have a day a week where you might have some foods you normally don't eat then the rest of the week eat really healthy. The wonderful thing is you can easily reverse this by making your next meal healthy...
  18. Well at least you finally found a protein you like.. That is awesome news. Sounds yummy who makes it??

    2mo post op stalled? Help!

Well you have lost 41 pounds I think that is awesome. That is about five pounds a week. Steroids can have effects on your body along with being stressed but it shouldn't be forever so just keep working on things. You are also below 200 so it might start coming off more slowly. Just make sure you are getting all your water and protein. You have done great so far don't stress yet.. I would cut the toast out but that is me or maybe just have toast 2 times a week instead of daily.

    Jump start?

Have you ever tried low carb. Helped me and it gets you eating like they want you too after surgery as with RNY you always eat protein first then veggies and fruits. Try cutting out sugar go sugar free, cut out pop as much as you can and if you do have to have one drink diet soda and start exercising at least three times a week. Just walk...

    help!

Jump back on the horse. I would go strict low carb so that you get those carb addictions out of your system. It takes a week but your craving will be gone and you will be eating healthy again with protein, vegetables and some fruits... Make sure you are walking or exercising at least 3 times a week if not more. You can do this....

    surgeon question

I saw him one time in June during my all day seminar. I didn't have surgery until the following Jan. I kept in contact with people from the program but not surgeon. He is really only important for the surgery and then all his support people are the ones that help you from there as long as you don't have complications.
  23. Every insurance company has different requirements. I have an out of state BCBS (illinios) and my employer is Catholic Health Initiatives and they have a program called carewise. Through them I had to have six months of phone nutrition calls with a documented end weight from primary doctor at end of six months. I also had a RN case manager. Basically, we talked about any diagnosis I had, concerns, changes I needed to make to prepare for surgery. I lost maybe 10 pounds then regained bc I hurt my back and was literally in bed for a time. So in the end I weighed 3 pounds less then when I started. They were fine with that. I struggled with years being insulin dependent and very metabolically resistant even when I ate low carb. I also had to have a psych review, primary doctor review. The entire process went fast even though initially I thought six months would take forever. I am glad it took that long gave me plenty of time to weigh my options and do lots of research on complications and lifestyle changes. I started the process May of 2012 and had surgery Jan 24 2013. I can say trying to eat smaller portions, with baby spoons and all that is tough prior to surgery and for the most part I didnt do it just knew I would have changes to be made after surgery. I have had no issues since surgery. Good Luck
  24. Yes, I love them but only the juice types. I just know that every type I liked before surgery I can't stand now and they make me sick and nauseous. Milk flavored kinds are very disgusting to me now. So you may find that you find some awesome tasting protein drinks and after surgery can't stand them...
