    Coffee

I would talk to your surgeon regarding regular coffee and see what his/her thoughts are. First off initially caffeine is a no no because it is an irritant to your new pouch and is dehydrates. Actually, caffeine can always be considered an irritant to your pouch. I know that my surgeon really doesn't want us to drink caffeine. My thoughts is you need to be far enough post op and getting way over your 64 ounces of liquids a day before even attempting.

    Veggies and Fruit?

At six weeks I was able to eat a regular diet including raw veggies. When I was eating soft or mushy food they allowed soft or mushy fruits and veggies. I bought alot of the four packs of mandarin oranges and pears in water and bananas. However check with the dietitian in charge of your program for specifics...

    Water, Water, Water

Remember if you are taking in yogurt, pudding, jello soup those are all liquids too that can be counted toward your days goal... In the beginning you won't get it all in. In time it gets much better.
  5. Left side is where the heavy equipment goes through and they really tork on our muscles-this is how my surgeon explained it. The area was hard for a bit for me too and I figured it was scar tissue as this can happen after surgery. It has since become normal and no longer hard.
  6. Normal.. I had a period prior to surgery and 5 days after started again and it lasted 14-15 days. Our bodies are in a little shock from surgery, very normal even for none PCOS women.

    this is disturbing

I had tons of nausea and still do. I take Zofran sublingual. I had to test many protein shakes before I could find ones that I could tolerate post-op. I went to vitalady.com and ordered samples. I found I don't tolerate chocolate or vanilla milk type protein shakes which is what you find at places like Walmart. I use Syntrax nectar juice flavored (kiwi-strawberry) and unjury.com has chicken broth which is awesome. I also used chicken broth as my savior the first few weeks when I felt nauseous I would sip on it and it was liquid and keep my hydrated. I know unjury also has a unflavored that people put into things to help boost protein content.. First call your doctor and ask for some Zofran...
  9. Plus if you have LOTS of weight to lose you might lose faster and as you get closer to goal you lose slower... Men tend to lose faster then women...The process works just follow your program and make sure you are taking all your vitamins, getting all your water and protein in.
  10. First stop saying only- 14 pounds is 14 pounds. I would count pre and post as weight lost. Plus are you measuring because often times we are losing inches and the scale might not move. It is a process and a tool not an overnight solution. Depending on how much you work out you could also be building muscle. Believe me in the next month to two months it will be very obvious what you have lost. Just be happy with every pound lost. There was a reason you had the surgery to begin with and more then likely because you couldn't get the weight off.. Hang in there.

    Not hungry...

Up that protein, have high protein Snacks, string cheese, greek yogurt, meat. Make sure you are getting all your fluids in and take all your Vitamins. I believe that you either lose hair or you don't and even when doing everything you are suppose to be doing it can happen.
  12. I ran fevers in the hospital and the first few days home. I was on antibiotics post op which I would imagine you are too. If they sent blood work and cultures out hopefully it will just run it's course. Usually fever can indicate infection but not always. You are in the hospital best place to be and they should be monitoring this and letting your surgeon know. Usually tylenol will bring it down if it gets too high but sometimes fever are also good for our bodies to due what they are programmed to do.

    Sugar & Carb addict!

It is hard and I can't imagine having all the crappy food in my house as I am a carb addict. The only thing I can recommend is up your protein. Go back to the basics and eat low carb and high protein. If you continue to eat carb it will continue to trigger your cravings and in the end can sabotage everything you worked so hard to achieve. If it was my family I would try and make the change for everyone and not have tons of that stuff around because it isn't healthy. Try Special K chips versus regular ones. Slowly take some of the bad choices away. You don't have to take it all away as it is about moderation but get everyone in the habit to find better choices as it will help them all in the long run.

    Not hungry...

If you are only eating one meal a day you should be supplementing with protein shakes. That is what I have done and have had not hair loss, no stalls and I feel good. It is important to get all that protein in...
  15. Happens to me often. I can eat something and then the next time I eat it, it makes me nauseous. I use Zofran frequently and would suggest getting some. The only protein shakes I can handle are the juice bases Syntrax nectar and unjury chicken soup. The other ones turn my stomach.
  16. Have you tried Syntrax Nectar juice flavored shakes? Have you tried Unjury chicken broth? I had the same problem after surgery. I found that every protein drink that tasted milky made me very nauseous. I can mix milk into foods haven't tried to drink it by itself yet.. I am 12 weeks post op. One thing that helped was getting some sublingual Zofran which helps with nausea and taking that. I also went to vitalady.com and bought various samples of the juice Syntrax to try and found ones I liked much better. I knew I needed to get the protein drinks in and needed something I could tolerate that wouldn't make me nauseous. I still deal with nausea with foods and use Zofran frequently. I really like the unjury chicken broth one. I like to put it in a cup for something warm to drink.

    Just wondering

It takes time to heal from a major surgery. I took six weeks off and by the end of four weeks was feeling like my old self again. The left side pain should be getting better as it is from the heavy equipment torking on those muscles. I have not had to deal with diarrhea but I would buy some Imodium to help with that. Never hurts to email or call surgeons office...

    Kidney problems

Well, I would call your doctor and report your symptoms to them. Especially since the pain is constant and just started a couple days ago and getting worse. Good Luck and keep us posted

    Kidney problems

Do you have any burning or pain with urination. How far out are you?? Is your urine foul smelling, dark or have blood in it? You could have kidney infection or kidney stones. Did you have a catheter after surgery? I would call my primary doctor and see if you can bring a urine specimen in? Is the pain in your left back??

    Kidney problems

I would call my primary physician. I would probably email my surgeon's office just to let him know but your surgeon really only deals with the surgery itself. What kind of problems are you having??

    Wine....

At least initially caffeine is a diuretic and can easily dehydrate you. It is usually a task for new bypass patients to get all their liquids in so adding caffeine which will dehydrate you will just add problems. Also it can be an irritant to your new pouch. Try and wait as long as you can before adding coffee back in to your diet and check with your surgeon. Mine doesn't want us to drink it because of dehydration issues.

    Stage 2

You shouldn't get pains unless, you are eating to big of a bite and not chewing enough, or you have a questionable stricture. I would call your surgeon's office because he would want you to advance...

    Shampoo

I pretty much just buy stuff for color treated hair because I have my hair colored every six weeks. I am ready for a change as I have been using Joico for awhile.

    Shampoo

I go between a couple brands. I always buy Salon brands because they are better for your hair period. Right now I am using Joico but I tend to also like Wella and Bedhead..
