    BCBS of illinois

I have BCBS out of Illinios but also have something called carewise from the company I work with. I was required to do 6 months of dietary consultation via phone, had to also consult with an RN for 5 months, psych eval. I started this entire process in June finished November 30 and was approved officially on Dec 26th. So, my guess is if you don't have carewise you probably won't have the six months of diet consultation.

I have noticed lots of you have to do the liquid diet. My Surgeon doesn't require anything pre-surgery. I am starting to eat very low carb almost like what i did in induction with Atkins. Again wishing all of you having surgery the best of luck!!!
  7. Just wanted to stop on and say hello to everyone. My bypass surgery is planned for January 24th so it is coming up very soon. I went to an all day seminar in June at the hospital to learn about the different options and started all my pre-requisites for surgery from there. Initially, I thought six months would take forever but the time has really gone fast. I finished up everything on November 30th and was approved for surgery on December 21. I am a RN and have done tons of research and feel very confident that I am making the best choice for myself to get my health back on track. Any advice is appreciated and I look forward to getting to know people

    January Dates

LOTS of January dates- how exciting. It will be nice to be going through this with so many other people... Good Luck everyone!!!
  9. Thanks Vicki! I am sure I will have lots of questions as I move forward, especially after surgery. I am excited for my new journey and maybe a little nervous. I decided that I needed to get healthy again and have tried so many things over the last 5 years with not much luck. Low carb eating works some but I just don't lose much weight-only maintain. I never had issues until I started to gain weight at about 30 and was diagnosed with PCOS. The insulin resistance makes it so difficult. I have diabetes on both sides of my family and I just want to do everything in my power to not get it. Thanks again..

    January Dates

Hello everyone! My surgery is scheduled for Jan 24. I went to an all day seminar in June and have been working on all my requirements since. After finishing up with my six months of dietary at the end of November-I finally got approval around Christmas. I am very excited to start this journey. I have seen a few people where I work at have the surgery and it has gone very well for them. I realize that this is only a tool and I still have to put alot of hard work into everything. I have been following a low carb diet for a few years and lost 40 pounds from my all time high but with PCOS and insulin resistance I just take weight off slow. My endocrinologist felt this would be a great benefit for me. So here I am... Looking forward to getting to know people on here and following everyone successful journey...
