If you just ate you need to wait to drink even if it is your protein. I have also read in places that after drinking protein you should wait 30 minutes before drinking anything else

3 months Post Op today! Before and After pics...
nienie replied to Miris's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
WooHoo!! Gotta do the happy dance. Congrats on your loss and all your hard work to get there. You look great... Keep it up!! -
Are you referring to protein in general or the drinks?? I bought some flavors from unjury.com. I love the chicken soup (broth) it has 100 cal and 21 gr. of protein. Strawberry Sorbet is okay in crystal light lemonade.

Papya enzyme...Helped me with a sour stomach and when food gets stuck -
I agree- it is discouraging mostly I think because we have failed at losing weight so many times and keeping it off and we do something very drastic and don't see the results as fast as we would like. Hang in there. WLS is not a magic trick- you really have to follow the program and use it like a tool. Thankfully you have called the nutritionist and maybe they can help you decide what to tweak to help you get that weight loss moving. I had surgery 1-24-13 and stalled for like 12 days-kinda freaked but then it started moving again- I just cut down the times of the day I was eating. My surgeon would like me to eat like six times a day- I eat 2 maybe three with one Protein shake. Everyone is different and every program is different. Keep us posted- and again Hang in there!!!

I would call my nutritionist. I again would ditch the potatoes and stick with protein and veggies and fruit. Are you exercising? Do you track you calories so you know how much you are taking in? How much have you lost since surgery? Are you measuring and do your clothes feel more loose? if you were at a lower weight then before it might take longer. Stalls are natural and it might be your body trying to hold onto the fat-thinks you are starving yourself so it is freaking out. Just follow your program, eat only when hungry, eat slow, exercise, get lots of fluids and Proteins and everything should work out. The WLS is only a tool so you have to balance it with everything else you were taught.

I would ditch the potatoes-they are full of carbs. Make sure you eat plenty of Protein and protein first. If you miss potatoes try using cauliflower as a substitute and put in blender with butter and some milk or laughing cow and you will be amazed how great they taste. I would also use a small plate and i use like 1/2 cup of whatever I am eating. Your food portions look big and it is obvious you won't be able to eat all that. I also try and make sure it takes me 20-30 minutes to eat. I set my silverwear down between each bite and chew chew chew. I also have heard some people say they thought they were eating too much and stalling so they did a Protein Drink for bf and then had lunch and supper. this helped them alot.

I didn't wear a bra either and I didn't wear one on the ride home or the first week and a half due to stitches and crap... You won't need one.
-
Well, you don't need much, I had underwear, chapstick, extra set of lounging clothes, tooth brush, lotion, makeup. I had brought a book but there was no way I was reading. I was so under the influence the first 48 hours from the Fentanyl PCA and patch along with nausea that all i did is sleep and when I became a real person on Saturday I worked on getting liquids in, walking and sitting up in chair. the hospital will provide slippers, toothbrush, lotion, gown but I wanted my own. Pack light you won't need much and Good Lucki

Curious about Alcohol
nienie replied to Olivereindeer's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The biggest thing i was told about alcohol is it will affect us differently due to the rerouting of the intestines. So one drink might get you completely drunk. I have known many people that still drink on occasion and due fine they just have to be careful. The other issue is that you don't want a transfer addiction. That is something else they warn everyone about since we no longer are addicted to food we might be addicted to something else ie alcohol. -
My first weight gain at 4 months out! :(
nienie replied to theby_88's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Some of the weight gain could be muscle if you are working out especially if you upped your workout. Also as women we can gain five pounds in a day due to hormones and our monthly cycle. As long as you are eating well I would just watch and see if it was just a fluke. You could also try if you are not already eating very low carb.. less then 20 grams a day... Just a thought... -
STRICTURE? Please help me
nienie replied to Jessica9190's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you are having nausea you should get a prescription for sublingual Zofran.. Helps tremendously... Most surgeons and doctors have no problem prescribing especially since nausea can sabotage our day for eating and drinking. -

Papya enzyme will help break down food if something feels stuck or your pouch feels full or something isn't settling. -

Well thankfully you know what was wrong and had it fixed. Nothing worse then having those issues and then they can't find out what is causing them. Hope you feel better.... -
I hope it helps too. I always think it is best to ask surgeon. Good Luck-I completely understand your misery. It is awful and I never want to be that constipated again!!

What to take when feeling sick
nienie replied to snow25's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can still take zyrtec d so that might help. I would recommend emailing or calling MD and asking too... Hope you feel better soon.. -
I can relate- thought i was going to have to go to the ER last week. MOM doesn't work for me. I emailed my surgeon and he called back told me to take one to two tabs of senna s at night and also if needed mirilax. I would go and get some mirilax right away if you are feeling sick. You might want to consult with your surgeon first. I also have increased my liquid intake and am trying my best to find more fibrous foods as I am only in soft portion of diet (4 weeks out). Surgeon's office reminded me to get in fruits and veggies as this should also help....

What made you chose RNY rather than sleeve?
nienie replied to Olivereindeer's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I initially thought I wanted the sleeve but after lots of research and speaking with my surgeon we went with RNY. I have PCOS and insulin resistance and both my endocrinologist and surgeon felt the RNY would benefit me the most. My surgeon's biggest issues with the sleeve is that it is a newer procedure and there is data out there with people having leaks two years down the road- he doesn't like that and neither did I . So ultimately I had RNY on 1-24-13 and couldn't be happier. -

nienie replied to Jessica9190's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well hopefully you just need a dilatation and all will be well. Keep us posted. Keeping you in my thoughts... -
Scary experience. It could be many things but I definitely think you should get it checked out. Often we can have orthostatic hypotension which just means if we get up to fast are blood pressure decreases and we don't get enough blood flow to your brain and you pass out. Usually for this we first make sure it is not medications ie bp med effecting it and then we tell people to get up slowly-if lying go to sitting position for a minute or so and then from sitting to standing go slow and wait a minute. Dehydration could also be an issue and sometimes they never find out what makes us faint. Glad to hear you are making an appointment as you can get seriously hurt when fainting and falling and or it could be something more serious that needs attention. Good Luck

I just ordered some single packets of some of the above. I ordered from vitalady.com.

Okay so you cheated now you move on and get over it and start again. You actually didn't cheat on bad food so kudos to you. We are going to cheat whether we are pre-op or post-op at some point. the most important thing is you don't dwell on it and immediately make your next choice healthy and positive...
