Band too tight? -OR- Eating too fast?

Thanks so much - I should have checked this before I tried to eat Cheerios for breakfast - they have stayed down - I ate about 1/4 cut but at least its down - have been trying to pb but so far it is slime - hope it passes soon as I have to go to my MD for blood work. I will try the liquids only in the morning and see what happens. I do like Soup so guess I will try some of that for lunch. Please keep the suggestions coming - I am going to succeed with this band one way or another. One thing .....not keeping things down - I am loosing weight - but not the way I want.

Band too tight? -OR- Eating too fast?

I have had a horrible time - I have been vomiting all afternoon - lets start with some history - had my band in July 07 - haven't really lost much weight - about 36# anyway - went to a new Dr. on Tues. He did a barrium swallow and they thought the band was too loose otherwise it looked good. I had a .2cc fill. Ate liquids the first day - second day - ate cereal for breakfast, WW Pizza for lunch - all was great. Last night I tried to eat some turkey and sweet pot. and it came back up - since that time - nothing is staying down. I tried oatmeal for breakfast - bad - tried a sandwich at noon - no good. by 3:00 I was feeling great and tried again to eat part of that same sandwich - I have been vomiting every since and it is 5:50 now. Water goes down for about 2 min and then back up. Please give me some advice. The Dr. thought I was drinking too close to my meals but this morning I hadn't had anything since last night early. today I got about 1 cup of iced coffee to go down about 3:00.

I have failed my band - SUPPORT GROUP

I can relate to your thoughts about alcoholism and food - My son is going through treatment and I can see the same ideas. It is going to be a struggle all of our lives. I don't believe that I eat around the band but I do like wine and have a glass or two every eveinging and think that is one of my problems. I will measure my food when I am home (have to be gone 3 days this week - one of which is to see my surgeon) and will make my goal to NOT gain this month with the holidays! I will start fresh on Jan.1 and make this year a success!!:cursing:

I have failed my band - SUPPORT GROUP

I am not proud to join your group but I am definately in it! I had my surgery July 23, 2007 and have only lost 35 lbs. I feel great to have accomplished that and it has improved my breathing and walking etc. I am having a few problems now and am guessing I have a slipped band. I go through bouts of vomiting for 3-4 days and then I am fine for 2 weeks then it starts all over again. I can eat most anything with no problems except - scrambled eggs. Most of the time ----they won't go down! I have been having tighness in my chest up to my ears after I eat. That is NOT pain ----just a tightness from my breast up, sometimes it feels like I am going to get a sore throat but then it passes. I feel that I did quite well on Thanksgiving but I did overeat but not to the point of miserable but I had to vomit after those first couple of bites of turkey but then I was fine. I need anyones suggestions and help - I hope to be 50#'s lighter in 2009. Feel that I just wasted a whole year.
  8. gwhite - You are okay - I am banded same as you - and I have only lost 35 lbs and I know that most of that is lack of planning on my part but I have had 7 fills and still not at my sweet spot, but you know what - I am happier then I was a year ago and oh so much more healthy. We will make it !!!

    Alcoholic beverages?

I feel my weighloss is effected by alcohol. I however choose to drink wine for other reasons that I would like not to share here :crying:. I would like to loose weight faster but have to consider other things too. I have just realized that my carb intake was probably one of my problems - I was eating what everyone else was but just not as much. I have been trying to increase my Protein and decrease carbs - - hope it continues to help. I have had 7 fills thus far and still do not have much restriction. I go in for another fill in 2 weeks and am not looking forward to that as the last few times have not gone well. Wish me well.
  10. I have a CPAP machine - took it to the hospital with me and never had a problem at all. I am one of the few people that I know that LOVE their machine. I sleep so much better and it doesn't bother me one bit. I don't know if I would stop using even if I could ---the humidity is so great, but I didn't wear it one night and my husband said I snored again.:-( I haven't lost 40#'s yet but am on my way :crying:

    Flipped port

I wonder how one finds out that the port has flipped. I went in for my 7th fill -----still only at 2.5 cc and the dr. had a -----of a time finding my port. He gave me 3 shots of novicane??? and 4 times trying to find the port. He finally found it and "filled it" ( I have been very hungry since that fill) It was very painfull and also I am still very black and blue after 8 days. Also I seem to have no restriction since this fill. There is nothing that I have found that I cannot eat. Please tell me what you think. :confused2:

Fills - FInding the Port & Pain?

I wish mine were that easy - every fill I get is worse. Yesterday I had my 7th fill and the worst. The Dr. just couldn't find the center of the port. I am sure mine must be tilted. I had 3 shots of novacane?? and It took LOTS of probing and 3 times before he got it. Right, normally it doesn't hurt ---just a pressure, but the last 2 times it has been painful! I finally do feel restriction now so hope I won't need another fill for awhile! I have 2.5cc in a 4 cc band. I am loosing real slow and of course we all know that it has nothing to do with me and what I am eating and drinking ---but I am not gaining and it is slow but sure!

How many CCs in your small AP band?

I have 2.35 in a 4 cc band and do not have much restriction at all. There is nothing I can't eat :-( and as of this time I have only lost about 31#. I keep hoping that soon I will hit my "sweet spot" but you know that I have self inflicted non weight loss - and I admit it!
  14. SD Chick

    how are you all doing?

Okay guys - my mistake on size of band - have a 4 cc band with 1.5 cc of Fluid - still no restriction - not loosing - but do like wine - which doesnt' help. I have lost about 27# - maybe after this fill on Mon - it will be my "sweet spot" I sure hope so. I am a primary care giver to my neighbor who has cancer and have not been taking time for myself - walking, watching what I eat - etc. Must get back on the bandwagon! Wish me luck!

    Anyone have port problems??

I have had 2 fills and they had to poke me 5 times the first time and 3 times the 2nd time. Thanks for the Novicane (yeah I know that isn't right but whatever they use to deaden the spot) but still don't like it!The port doesn't seem like it is tilted or anything at least no one has told me that. MAYBE the 3rd time will be a charm!!
