In my booklet it says 2TB-1/4 cup of food at a time

I'm doing horrible on my protein. I'm getting in 30-40 grams. The powders are starting to gross me out, not sure why. I can drink about half a thing then i'm gagging and torturing myself to finish it. The smell and taste is so gross.

I had surgery on the 16th, and was back in the hospital a week later for a second surgery due to complications. I'm down 28 lbs. No idea when I get to go back to work. I am doing terrible with my protein (between 30-40 grams a day) and still working up on the water. I don't really have an appetite. I go Wednesday for a ct scan to make sure everything is still ok, and not sure when I go see a blood specialist. I guess I would feel better if I didn't have an open wound in my stomach.

I'm cold all the freaking time!!

Are you drinking any high calorie drinks

I ate a whole egg today. It took 30 mins but I did it. I think an egg is 1.75 ozs. About to go take a nap lol. Did you puree the canned chicken? I bought some to try later.

I know this is a stupid question but my employer said I needed something from the doctor stating I was in the hospital and have a full release. Now does that mean I am able to go back to work with no restrictions? Or just I can return to work?

I'm doing great today! It was my birthday and I 'cheated' a little and had some sf pudding. I bought cupcakes for everyone else, because a birthday isn't complete without cupcakes! I have walked a ton lately and it feels good. I am kind of disappointed in the fact that we have been searching for saline solution for days now for my open wound. We found out at cvs that you have to have a script for it. Wish the nurse at the hospital would of told us that. I should have enough to get through tomorrow and hopefully the doctor will call me in some. It's kind of funny you need a script for it, even the gauze that they use...

Does anyone have to attend a post op surgery class? I have one on Wednesday. Wondered how long they usually last.

mine isn't, but like you I am also still liquids only. I start pureed on the 1st.

I think if it's been more than 3 days then you should take something to help it along.

That sounds awesome! How are you tolerating foods. I am jealous, it seems my doc is the only one that makes you do clear liquids for 2 weeks before going to pureed. Did you use reg oatmeal or baby oatmeal? I have a ton of reg oatmeal that I can't wait to tear into.

Do you count your protein shakes toward your 64 oz of liquid

I had second thoughts, especially as the day got closer and closer. I even regretted having surgery afterwards. It is def an emotional rollercoaster. There are foods that you will see and can't have for a while. I know food was def my comfort for alot of things. I had complications after my surgery and it sucks because I can't go and eat pizza or ice cream to comfort myself. All I can say is, think of the original reason why you wanted this in the first place. Yes it's scary, but if the benefits out way the good, then why not go ahead with it. Do you really want to give up all that you have worked for?

the bandage that goes on the outside of it came from the hospital. They gave us all these prescription grade stuff to make sure it stays as sterile as possible, even the gloves are prescription lol. I feel like it is all a big waste as everything is individual wrapped but I see why.

that is what we tried this time just to see how it works out. I can't put anything on it because if it some how gets in the wound I could end up back in the hospital. I can't believe out of all complications that could of happened, it was this and to me. It is just mind boggling.

i know this is some major tmi, but when they first packed my open wound they sealed it with a tegaderm. When they took it off my skin almost came off with it. Now I have to use paper tape, and anything that touches my skin hurts so bad. It's red, all over looks almost like a rash. Well anyways the paper tape still has to be stuck to that part of my skin, and I think that might be the thing that hurts the most is when I have to peel that off. The nurse gave me some adhesive remover to help but that can only do so much. I just hope this wound doesn't take that long to heal. But it is about 3 inches wide and 2 inches deep.
