Brachioplasty(Arm Lift)
erikaloftin replied to erikaloftin's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I'm 30 lbs away from my doctors goal weight of 160 and have 3 months until the surgery. My PS said that he would even be comfortable it now because my arms have not much fat left in them, and what fat they do have, he is liposuctioning out anyway. -
Hey all, I'm 4 months post op. I've done super well and haven't experimented much. Tonight is my anniversary date with the hubby and I was thinking of having a glass of wine. Yes I realize how it effects us. My question is, have any of you tries wine, if so, what kind, and is there any chance it could cause dumping? I've never had dumping from natural sugar. I prefer white wine.

Prescribed Post Op Meals?
erikaloftin replied to Chris10's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've never heard of that. My nutritionist didn't give me a "plan" more like just guidelines to follow. -
Trying wine for the first time

The wine went over well. No dumping. I had Riesling, and since then, I've also tried a red moscato and was fine with that as well. It does hit you super fast though. -

Isn't moscato carbonated? I was thinking. Riesling. -
Help! Post-Op Period for 6 weeks?
erikaloftin posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey Guys, I'm 9 weeks post op and have been on my period since week 3. It has no signs of stopping. I have the implanon birth control. My dr said its normal (2 weeks ago) so I'm afraid to call her and ask again. Isn't it unhealthy to bleed for this long? Did anyone else have this issue? -
Had hoped the hair loss would skip me - NOT :(
erikaloftin replied to Cherry's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor told me that the hair falling out is not our problem on average, a woman loses 150 strands of hair every single day. She said that when we are expecting hair loss, we notice it more. She said what causes the bald spots is that our bodies are re-growing the hair at a much slower rate because our protein and vitamins are being used for more important things. Interesting huh? -
Hey guys! So I'm 1 week away from being released to regular foods again and I'm terrified! What are some of your favorite "staple" recipes you cook for dinner, lunch, and breakfast? I'd really like to be able to cook the same food for me as I do for my picky husband.

I felt the same way. I was so worried about convincing everyone else it would be okay, that I never really got to stop and think about how I felt about it. Trust me. You will be so so glad you decided to do this once recovery is over. I'm 8 weeks out and so glad I did this. It was the best decision I ever made. Hope that helps.

So stressed! Need some guidance on 2 months post op exercise
erikaloftin replied to Obeasta's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I love the couch to 5k app. I also love the zumba core game on xbox. I tried jogging but was having pain in my knees and the physical therapist said no more jogging until onederland. -
We've all been through this "final freakout". It is a good reminder that you need this tool, but you also need to learn better self control. I had terrible self control. After surgery (atleast for me) its much easier because you don't want mess up your last chance.

I'm so happy I could cry

I tried them. Not a fan. -
I'm almost 6 weeks out and the weight loss is starting to slow. How much did you guys average out at per week? How much had you lost by the 3 month mark? What about 6 months?

Starving and wondering how im gonna do this
erikaloftin replied to janel129's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Be careful because Chike! has caffeine in it. So does the regular Click, but they do have a Click Decaf that I bought and it is pretty good. -
Even if your liver doesn't shrink completely, you'll be fine. When a liver is fatty, it is stiff and bleeds easily when it is moved around. With weight loss it becomes soft and (usually) shrinks. Mine didn't shrink much ( she said I had a rather large liver) but that it was soft and that's what they're most worried about, because they have to retract it during the surgery and don't want it to bleed.

I learned about this in my BIO class. It was a contest called "Hold your Wee for a Wii" right? They had to drink a gallon of water and see who could hold it the longest. It caused her brain to swell and she died.

Body Fortress Chocolate Peanutbutter Protein
erikaloftin posted a topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Have any of you tried it?? Yum!! Is it the right kind of protein for us? Any experiences? -
So I just got my sample packs of nectar and am so disappointed. They have a super strange flavor and smell. Have any of you not liked these and found ways of making them tolerable?

I'm not far out enough yet to know what my skin is going to do, but everyone says it helps

How do you get in the req protein?
erikaloftin replied to crystal812's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I thought that the new whey shots weren't allowed? I do one Protein shake (usually in the morning) with 8 oz of milk, and that usually adds up to about 30 g of protein, then one container of Fage 0% plain with some sugar free syrup mixed in which is 18 grams. That makes 48 grams total and the rest is easy to get in with your meals. -
So I know we are supposed to choose whey protein isolate over all proteins, but how does lean soy protein stack up? I've found several things on bariatric surgery websites that have it, so I figure its okay but just wanted to double check from some experienced post-oppers
