  1. Ok, so far the only major discomfort pains I've had is when I'm drinking water on an empty stomach and I find that sipping it is more bothersome than with a straw. A straw actually hurts less. Anyways, my question is does anyone else experience the funky taste in their mouth after eating/drinking? Like the taste is coming back up? Even though your not ill and not going to throw up? When does that stop?

    19 days post op...weird question!

No, I don't think so...it's more of just a funky taste. Like whatever I ate/drank lingers and is gross. :-(
  3. I just had the gastric bypass this past Wednesday as well as gall bladder removal. This is my first day home and I was able to get in all my vitamins. Been sipping liquids all day. The only thing I'm having trouble with is getting in the protein!! How come nobody told me it would smell so terrible?? Today I tried Nectars Vanilla Bean Torte, Optisource strawberry, Isopure alpine punch and passion fruit(which this is my fave so far) and a pure protien shot that's 42g in 3.8 oz of liquid. The taste on most has been tolerable but the smell is really getting to me! Does anyone have suggestions on some that are better to get down smell wise?

  5. Hey guys! I'm so excited I'm having my surgery on 8/14 and I'm trying to find the best protein powders out there while being on a budget. Suggestions?
  6. Hey everyone! I am new to the forum! I was wondering if anyone has been told by their insurance provider that they needed to follow a supervised diet for 6 months with a doctor, before insurance will approve it? I just went through all my other evals and drs appts to get cleared for the surgery only to have my insurance provider say this after the fact. I've been overweight my whole life, and I've done all the diets! If I had success losing weight the "old fashioned way" would I be prepping for this surgery? I think not! Lol, anyways, I live in CA. Does anyone know how to dispute this? Thanks for reading!
  7. Hey guys! I'm still pre-op, hopefully getting my surgery scheduled soon. But I'm itching to start my half sleeve. Does anybody have experience with tattoos they had before surgery and how they were affected after weightloss? I'll wait if I have to but I've been putting off the tattoo for a long time already. Thank u for your help!

    Pre-op tattoos on Post-op body.

Thanks guys for replying. I have one on my ankle and one on my wrist. I'm not that worried about those. I just want to know if I got a large piece on my arm if it would distort as I lost weight. I carry quite a bit of weight in my arms, so I know they will change somewhat.

    Pre-Op supervised Diet?

Lola, what state are you in? I'm blue shield too. I just want to get this done. I don't have time to do all the ther appts again.

    Pondering...

I know this may be a stretch for some, but I got all my other tests done in two weeks. I just piled them up on the same days. My surgeon just didn't tell me that the 6 month supervised diet was a thing so now I have to do that :-( it sucks cause I was hoping to get the surgery done over winter break before I go back to school in Feb. at this rate, my surgery will be in June. I wanted to look good for my 27th bday in July. Oh well! I'll just wait to super celebrate my 28th.

    Pre-Op supervised Diet?

Unfortunately, I wasn't seeing a Dr for the last few years because I didn't have insurance. Ok then, will I have to go through all the other dr's appts again? I've seen the Nutrionist, had an endoscopy done, done the cardio-pulmonary stress test, had the abdominal ultrasound, gotten the psych eval and had all my bloodwork done. These test results won't "expire" will they?
