It definitely depends on your doctor and your recovery. He will probably tell you if you feel up to it, go for it. It all depends on how you feel at that time. I had virtually no pain and no complications so I would've done it. Some other people I wouldn't recommend it for.

I was able to do everything after 4 weeks.

Hair falling out
pookybear replied to Marathongirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't have an issue with it. I actually lost more hair pre-op than I did post-op. Go figure. -
Feeling nauseous alot
pookybear replied to Yippyia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's very common when you're healing. My Dr sent me home with anti-nausea pills. -
So I've been lacking in fiber, as most of us probably are. I've decided to start having 'green' drinks for breakfast. I had one yesterday and another today. Strawberries, raspberries, 1/2 banana, and spinach. I'm going to pick up some Chia seeds this weekend to start adding them as well. I created 3 recipes that are high in fiber and acceptable calories for a meal. I'm already feeling a little better having them the past 2 days. Anyone try these or have smoothie recipes to share?

What part of the beet do you use? The greens or the beet itself?

I did try adding a scoop of protein powder yesterday. My powder is vanilla flavored and made it way too sweet. Might work with an unflavored one, though.

The drinks are definitely helping with the #2 situation! I recommend it for anyone who has bathroom issues and can tolerate fruit.

I sometimes get stomach pains if I eat popcorn with any kind of flavoring. If I stick to the unsalted, unbuttered, 94%fat free cardboard popcorn (lol) I'm fine.

What foods made you dump?

I'm almost at a year and a half and thankfully never had dumping. -
Losing Weight Causing Me To Rethink Being In My Current Relationship
pookybear replied to bs8387's topic in The Gals' Room
You're never obligated to forgive anyone for anything. But if you don't, that's a choice you make, and that choice is on you. Everyone deserves a second chance, especially if they genuinely are sorry and feel remorse. That doesn't mean anyone is obligated to give that person a second chance, but if they choose not to that is their choice. -

Really? It's funny how doctors differ so much. My doctor wants me to drink protein drinks. My nutritionist gave me protein shake recipes. -

Newbie with bowel issues - help?
pookybear replied to ladykatie_'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Bowel issues and nausea are common. Most docs send you home with nausea pills. I had virtually no pain post-operating (thankfully) but I did have nausea off and on for almost a month after. It takes time for your body to get over the shock.of surgery. Never had diarrhea but had (and still have) constipation issues. -

How about a Protein drink with some extras mixed in? Peanut Butter, etc. It'll be healthy and give you protein and should be over 350. -
I've never been told to watch my carbs. I do try to limit Pasta and bread, though.

I get that as well, especially when I'm full. I think it's just the air coming up from your pouch.

Anyone know what we can take for allergy meds? Should I stick with Tylenol Sinus?

All I think about now is food... (Worried)...
pookybear replied to Wayne Hunt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
With this surgery, it's almost like you have to live your life around food. I can't just go to any restaurant anymore. I have to research their menu first and make sure there are things I can choose, or I stick to the same places and the sane things. Grocery shopping has become very organized. I have to have a specific list and stick to it. I can't just shop spontaneously like I used to. It's a complicated way of life, but considering the results, it's worth it. -
Sorry for the icky stuff ahead. I moved this past weekend. I don't know if the stress of moving has gotten to me or it's something else. I have only pooped once since last Friday, and barely any at that. I don't really feel like I have to go either. No pressure or bloating. My stomach is a little crampy but that may because I've been taking stool softeners to try and go. Also, I'm on Nuva Ring currently and I started bleeding the other day. Not heavy, but enough for a pad or tampon. I'm not scheduled to remove the ring until Saturday. At this point I don't know what's up. Don't know if I should call the doc or wait and see if my system calms down.
