tuna, chicken, pork.... meats!
pookybear replied to goproCameraOP's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hummus, yogurt, oatmeal, tuna (only if it's moist enough that it doesn't need to be chewed), applesauce, etc. My nutritionist told me I could eat anything that's soft and moist enough to not need chewing. -
I use some olive oil for cooking but too much oil makes me sick. Anything fried, etc. I tried oil and vinegar dressing once. Didn't feel good coming back at me!

I started salads at 8 weeks. I use only lite cream-based dressings. Oil-based makes me sick. I use lite ranch or lite honey mustard.

I would. Sounds like you're just not ready for meats yet. Have you tried eggs? They're good protein and ok in the soft stage. -

At a month out I'm not sure your pouch is ready for solid meats yet? What stage are you supposed to be in? At a month out I was on soft foods. -
Whenever your doctor clears you for regular solid foods, you should be fine for salads.

Am I supposed to eat when I'm not hungry?
pookybear replied to Wayne Hunt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I get hungry too. It's not quite the same feeling of hunger as I got before, but I get it. My tummy definitely lets me know when I should eat. -
I left the hospital in the full liquid stage and had to do a full 2 weeks on that from the day I left the hospital. So I guess my day 1 was the day I was discharged.

Food tolerance post surgery

No problem! I still pack safety lunches. I don't always use them but better safe than sorry! -
Food tolerance post surgery
pookybear replied to treener7's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone is different when it comes to what you can or can't tolerate. I am fine with most things, but I can't eat anything greasy without getting sick. Also I have a difficult time with beef and pork. It's definitely a good idea to pack a safety lunch in case there isn't anything you can have, at least until you learn what does and doesn't work for you. There were plenty of times I'd do that, pack a bag with cheese sticks, boiled eggs, hummus and turkey slices, etc. It's never a bad idea. I often bring veggie burgers with me to cookout because I can't have a regular burger, or I'll offer to bring salad so I know there's at least one thing I can have. -
showering - how long
pookybear replied to Dawnakers's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told in the hospital I could shower but had to be careful not to scrub my incisions. I was afraid to do something wrong so I waited a few days. -

not your usual protein shake question
pookybear replied to jtickle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They probably want you to use theirs because they can keep better track of what you're getting that way. There are plenty of other ones on the market that work just as well. I say use what you like, as long as it has what you need in it. I use Body Fortress and I get it at Wal-Mart. Its cheaper and it does what I need it to. -
Blood in Stool? Gross, sorry! Just worried
pookybear replied to Tgarden's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If it's a few streaks once in awhile then it's probably just from straining (if that's what you're doing) to get it out. If it's more than a streak here or there or you're not straining at all (most of us do after surgery) then I'd call the doc. -
I get the Target brand of Flintstones Complete. For Calcium, I get the Celebrate brand in Cherry.

Food getting "stuck"?
pookybear replied to afwife98's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you eating it too dry? Have you tried it moistened with gravy or low fat mayo? Poultry tends to be dry, so maybe that's why it's getting stuck. -

I'm the opposite. I eat chicken and turkey all the time. I have difficulties with beef and pork. So I just avoid red meats for the most part. -

Ok I probably gave them the wrong info then. My prescription card is different than my insurance card. -

I went there just to see if I'm eligible, which I haven't found out yet. Now I just got an email that they are sending a prescription to my Dr to be signed. WTF , I didn't sign up for anything, they don't even know my dosages. I do not like this. -
What ya eating tonight?

At about 6 months I tried it. I'm fine with it. I stick with the 94% fat free kind. -

pookybear replied to msshellg's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I eat 3 meals and one or two snacks a day. Usually popcorn, string cheese, nuts, or an apple with peanut butter. Once in awhile I'll have an indulgence...Greek frozen yogurt, Dole banana bites (yum) Or plain pretzels.
