Maybe not keeping it a secret?
pookybear replied to groovykg's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'll tell pretty much anyone. I'm proud of this choice that I've made for myself. I don't go around broadcasting it, but I'll talk about it with anyone and if they have questions I'll answer them. I am doing a great thing for myself, I don't want to hide it. I've gotten negative reactions from 2 people, but I won't let it bother me. I'm doing this for me, no one else. -
That's going to be me too lol I have tried several times to quit but I keep convincing myself I still have plenty of time.

Anyone take this after surgery? I'm already kinda lactose intolerant and I take it sometimes. I don't want to give up milk lol
-
I actually take the pills right now and was wondering about them. I completely forgot they have milk, they would work much better post-op! Thanks!

What's an ablation?

I've heard a lot of stories about them slipping or coming loose. My dr also said they can cause scar tissue. I just hate the idea of a foreign object stuck in me. The same goes with the Norplant. My boyfriend and I need to discuss this this weekend. Maybe I should just get my tubes tied. Or he could get a snip job lol

What should I pack/not pack for the hospital? Also, what should I have on hand when I get home? I know all the Vitamins. Water isn't a problem as I work for a water company lol. I also know about the papaya enzyme. What's recommended for the acid reflux? And is there anything else I may want to have on hand?

If you're taking food with you, Campbell's cream soups in the to go sizes, baby foods (if you don't hate them), protein shakes, Greek yogurts

Going to try the Depo, just have to wait until after surgery. Still not comfortable with the idea of something implanted in me, including Norplant. If the Depo doesn't go well I'll consider other options. He didn't say the IUD would be impossible, just difficult and a higher risk for scar tissue.

Not an option for me, I've never been pregnant.

What are the necessities?
pookybear replied to pookybear's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Really? They told me I should take Prilosec or something similar. I just assumed it was for acid reflux. Why do they tell you to take it then? -
I was thinking of getting some rather than pureeing everything.

Wow I only just found this thread! I'm from Dartmouth, and I work in Raynham. I have Dr. Streeter and my surgery will be at Tobey. I'm surprised there so many people in this area on here!

One of the doctors I saw put me on Phentermine to help me lose the 20 pounds I need to lose before surgery. Now while on these pills, I still get hungry but not starving, and if I can't find something I really want to eat, I don't want to eat at all! I just left the grocery store in tears because I couldn't find anything I wanted and just didn't want anything. I know I HAVE to eat. My boyfriend thinks I should stop the pills. I'm really thinking about it. I like not being as hungry, and I'm scared if I don't lose the weight my surgeon won't do the surgery, but I really think they're messing with my moods.
-
Been on them since Dec. 21st and he just doubled my dosage. It's just to help me lose the 20 lbs before surgery because I was having a lot of trouble on my own. My surgeon said as long as I stop them a week before surgery it's fine. I have noticed on the few days that I forgot to take it I was more hungry than when I take it.

My NUT said you can include tuna and canned chicken as long as you get ALL the chunks out. Probably put it in a food chopper to make it easier. And of course make sure you chew it completely.

Sagging skin? Need advice
pookybear replied to Pam Peltz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The sagging skin scares the bejeezus out of me. But I keep trying to concentrate on how much healthier and thinner I'll be, and all the things I'll be able to do that I can't do now. It's worth it. -
Bridesmaid in August
pookybear replied to Gurlygirlrcr80's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would say wait til the last minute, then order 2 sizes down from what you are at that point. They'll still be able to go down 2 more if needed. Do you get to pick your own dress in the selected color, or are all the bridesmaids wearing the same dress? If you can pick your own, pick something simple with clean lines, it can be taken in more than a detailed dress.
