I swear i feel hungry
pookybear replied to pookybear's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am on Pepsid for a month. I think most of my hunger right now is head hunger. Can't wait for my first follow up. I'm doing really well tolerating everything so far. Maybe I'll get early clearance. Re-Birthday: 2/27/13 -
That is a great site! I cannot wait until I can eat regular foods again. I'm SO excited to try and make all my favorite foods healthier so I can still enjoy them Re-Birthday: 2/27/13

Pooped. Lol. I'm 5 days post op and have had no feelings to go yet. I figured its because I'm just on liquids, but I can't go 2 weeks without going. I have my first follow up appt this Thursday and I'll ask then as well, but if I should've gone by then I don't want to get readmitted Re-Birthday: 2/27/13

is it different for lesbians?
pookybear replied to Veritas02138's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Well...as someone who's lived in both worlds, I can say there is definite truth to your thoughts. Women don't judge as much on appearance in the lesbian world. It's as simple as that. Women judge competition (other women potentially out for their prey) totally differently than they judge a potential mate. Re-Birthday: 2/27/13 -
This liquid diet is for the birds.
pookybear posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm a carb addict. Right now I can only have strained soups, SF pudding and jello, and unsweetened applesauce. I'd give anything right now for some French fries or Mac & cheese, or even some cauliflower. The only things that I actually enjoy are applesauce and tomato soup with a little low fat sour cream in it. Don't start soft foods until March 15th I'm going to go crazy before then. -

Boyfriend just called he's on his way home and wanted to know if he should eat in the car so I don't see or smell the food lol. He's sweet I told him he can eat in front of me, but if he's getting French fries those need to be gone before he comes in LOL Re-Birthday: 2/27/13 -
I'm not even going to ask for a card. Most of the stuff on the kids menu isn't healthy at all. I'd rather just order what I want and have leftovers for a few days. Re-Birthday: 2/27/13

Post-op essentials care package
pookybear replied to erikaloftin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I brought Chapstick but never once used it. Deodorant, toothbrush and toothpaste, lotion, magazines, slippers, stuffed animal for cheering up, journal, etc. -
Don't think you can have salads at 5 weeks yet... Chicken, steamed veggies, very small amounts of mashed potatoes, lean beef, soup, chili...depends on what stage you're in

Do u have staples?
pookybear replied to kparadisek's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The staples are to seal the stomach and the new pouch, even with the laparoscopic RNY. My incisions are sealed with surgical glue. -
I think it's because of my period. Of course I'd get it right before surgery. Really heavy too. Back hurts, feeling nauseous, really tired....I hope it goes away before surgery. Well if not, maybe the pain meds will help LOL

I can't tell when I'm hungry, can't tell when I'm full....can't tell which feelings are nausea and which are gas...keep getting pressure in my chest, like in my esophagus. Don't know if it's gas or my body saying I took too big of a sip. How to I distinguish these feelings?

Maybe if you're incredibly sensitive to sugars, but I wouldn't think you normally would.

pookybear replied to pookybear's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks. I thought maybe that's all it was. It's so hard to distinguish what feelings are what right now. -
Until I can have decaf tea or decaf coffee? I couldn't care less about the caffeine, just the taste of the coffee.

I had decaf tea today.

Might've just been what it was cooked in. Did you use butter or oil? -
Yay, thanks!! I can't wait for the day I can go to Starbucks and get a coffee! I'm laying in bed in the hospital and one of the nurses down the hall must have a cup because I swear I can smell it! Lol

Officially post-op!
pookybear replied to pookybear's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yay I just got unhooked from most of the gadgets and the catheter! Didn't have a drain. And I now have water :-D Been walking really good. My nurse said the average weight gain from the gas & fluids is 10-20 pounds. I've only gained 3, so that's awesome! I may ask to stay a second night just so I don't have to be home alone all day tomorrow. Then ill also have help over the weekend and I should be fine to be alone on Monday. They gave me the option. We'll see later on today.
