Thanks, glad I'm not alone. I think it's just me having to get used to bite size and quantity since this is just my first full day on soft foods. Never got nauseous, just overfull I think. Re-Birthday: 2/27/13

At restaurants I'll now just order Water and take very small sips. Don't even drink 1/4 of it. Hopefully I'll get to the point where I remember to tell them I don't want a drink at all. Re-Birthday: 2/27/13

Approved for soft foods and gym! *happygirl*
pookybear posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The nutritionist told me today I can start soft foods and I can start at the gym with just the treadmill. Left there and went straight to the gym, then grocery shopping! Never been so happy to do either one in my life! So many choices for dinner tonight now, I have no idea what to try. Re-Birthday: 2/27/13 -
2 weeks out- buffet?
pookybear replied to groovykg's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My nutritionist told me anything is ok as long as its soft enough to mash with a fork. I'm sure there will be a couple things you'll be able to eat. Re-Birthday: 2/27/13 -

Mashed seasoned cauliflower and canned chicken and mushrooms with a slice of melted cheese. Delicious. Re-Birthday: 2/27/13 -
this surgery is no joke
pookybear replied to Lovebone89's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was told they'd only do it open if you have had pervious abdominal surgeries that would make it necessary for them to have more access. Re-Birthday: 2/27/13 -
Why RNY and not the sleeve?
pookybear replied to lisaarellano's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Lol sorry I didn't specify. There are years and years of recorded results on RNY, but the sleeve is too new, no long term recordings yet Re-Birthday: 2/27/13 -

That's one of the things they strongly warn against. Drinking with food causes the food to wash through your pouch faster, making you hungry more often, which then causes you to eat more and gain. Most advise not to drink about 30 minutes before through 30 minutes after. Re-Birthday: 2/27/13

Dr calacchio wareham mass tobey hospital
pookybear replied to heidi's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I had surgery on 2/27/13 with Dr Streeter. All the people there are great. I am from Dartmouth/Wareham. I'm also on Facebook at immastarr452@aol.com if you want to add me. It definitely gets better. The first week is the hardest, but you should notice a little improvement each day. Re-Birthday: 2/27/13 -
when do you start losing?
pookybear replied to chellbell510's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lost 15 lbs by my first post op appointment, but I only gained 3-4 lbs from the liquids. It depends how much you gain from that because you'll lose the liquids first before any actual weight. Re-Birthday: 2/27/13 -
I had surgery on 2/27. Still on full liquids. I've had barely any pain or issues since I was released from the hospital. Haven't even touched the pain meds. I've sort of cheated a few times and tried things I shouldn't yet, but I've been very cautious about it. Everything has been tolerated perfectly. I actually have to keep reminding myself that I did have surgery because I feel so good. I know it's a good thing to feel good, but I'm scared at some point in going to 'forget' and pay the price. Thats one of the reasons I'm still staying with my bf, so I have a back up to watch me if I do something wrong lol. Is it weird this soon out to be feeling this good? I feel like I could've been on soft foods for several days already. Even the Dr at my first post op appointment this past Thursday seemed surprised that I was doing this well. Not that I'm complaining that I feel so good, but it doesn't seem right to be feeling this normal so soon. Re-Birthday: 2/27/13

how long were you off work
pookybear replied to Amanda R's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Taking 2 weeks. Going back this coming Wednesday, I work in an office. Re-Birthday: 2/27/13 -
I had surgery 2/27/13 and I have yet to throw up or be nauseous. Most of it will come from dumping. At first you just want to tread lightly. Try new things very gradually, and once you find that you can/can't tolerate it, move on to the next one. Listen to your body. If you're feeling good, you'll obviously be able to do more than if you're in pain or nauseous. I guess I have a pretty high pain tolerance because I've had barely any pain since I've been home. Haven't even touched the pain meds. You definitely don't want to be lifting much of anything for about 2 weeks. So depending on how you're feeling you may be able to do a lot around the house, but anything requiring lifting you'll probably need to safe for hubby.

pookybear replied to OleHippieGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Week and a half. But I've been tolerating everything amazingly well and the vegetables in it were so soft they liquified in my mouth lol Re-Birthday: 2/27/13 -

Getting French onion soup from 99 tonight. I'll either just have the broth or puree everything to be edible for me. Hope it sits well -

FINALLY found a protein drink that doesn't make me gag! It's not the best in the world, but it's not bad either! The premade Atkins shakes, my doctor suggested them yesterday at my follow up when I told her none of the powders were drinkable for me. I got the coffee mocha one. It's kinda like an iced coffee :-D

Buying New Clothes- Have you ever...
pookybear replied to sunshine413's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Denim for jeans is cut by hand so even in the same brand and same size it's always best to try them on, may fit differently. I learned that when I worked at Avenue. Re-Birthday: 2/27/13 -
