I think so. Probably from hormonal changes, or maybe you're not drinking enough water? Your body could be pulling the moisture out of your skin to compensate for what you should be drinking. Try increasing your liquids a bit and see if that helps

Ugh this needs to stop
pookybear replied to pookybear's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's not really acid reflux, I guess the pouch is still just too sensitive. It's pressure and pain and nausea. I'd rather have the avid reflux Just went and bought a bunch of Soups to live off of for a week or so, to give more time for my tummy to heal. -
What are the best non-gas-inducing soups?
pookybear posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm sure my 2 faves, cheddar broccoli and tomato, are out. -
There's a great recipe using cheese as a crust. Also you can use a wrap as a crust.

I thought it would be a good idea to have a place where we can ask questions or discuss the icky and oddball things that we may not want to bring up in other threads. So have at it

The unpleasantries of RNY!
pookybear replied to pookybear's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok so today was my first day off the prescription Prilosec. Well the stupid grocery store did not label their Italian seasoned ground turkey 'spicey'...I took 3 bites and have spent most of the afternoon in the bathroom. I'm puking just saliva and gas. It's so weird, I've never thrown up a burp before! I ate the evilness at 1:30 and still sick. I wish this would go away I called the doctors office to have them give me a refill since obviously my pouch isn't ready to be independent yet, but when I got to the pharmacy their power was out, so they probably haven't even gotten the fax -

Fabulous February Post-Op's
pookybear replied to ArmyWife&Mom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm wrong. Also having an issue with eating slow enough and figuring out when I'm full. Have had several times when I've gotten sick. Friday night I got fish and chips. Peeled the batter off and ate just the fish. Was very sick not too long later Not sure if its because of the little bit of batter I did have (one bite, I swear) or what. I know I'm fine with fish. -
Fabulous February Post-Op's

I'm getting squishy! Lol before I had the surgery I swore I'd come out of this looking very disproportionate because some areas, like my hips, are hard and not squishy fat. So I thought they were more bone than anything else. They're getting squishy now! And I'm also getting bat wings. Oh well. I started the elliptical at the gym today. Did 5 minutes and was exhausted. How the heck do people do an hour of that thing at a time?! And I swear my boobs are getting smaller. One of them almost fell out of my bra yesterday. I have a friend who had the surgery a few years ago and now wears 2 bras at a time. I swore I'd never do that. Well guess what I've been doing at the gym for the past week. :-/ Have my 6 week checkup next week. I have to remember to ask when I can start regular pills again. Doing ok with protein. Have good days and bad days. Mostly good. It's so much easier to do grocery shopping now. I know what I can/can't eat and I stick to those things. I don't even look at anything else. Only issue is that they only gave me one month of Prilosec, and if I miss a pill my tummy gets very angry with me. So I had to buy some chewable Pepsid. -
What ya eating tonight?
pookybear replied to OleHippieGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Half a turkey patty with cheese. Gonna have some chocolate mousse soon made my own protein mousse. -
Find some motivational music! Anytime I'm feeling down, if I can find even one song that is uplifting to me at that point in tile, I'll just play the crap out of it until I feel better. It really does help. Or shopping, that fixes everything

How do you keep your pets off of you?
pookybear replied to Kurstin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's amazing how animals know when you're not feeling well. I swear they're smarter than most humans LOL -

I splurged. Ate about a spoonful of all the yumminess at Easter dinner. Baked Mac and cheese, stuffing, carrots, potatoes, prime rib, croissant. Lots of bad stuff, but won't have any more of it til Thanksgiving -
I think you should wait at least 2 years after surgery. You may be able to tone some with working out. Also you want to make sure you're at a maintainable weight for awhile.

Pre-op tattoos on Post-op body.
pookybear replied to heygirl_143's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have one on each shoulder, one just above my ankle, one on my wrist, and one on my upper chest. That's the only one I'm worried about. There is one more that I want behind my ear that I know won't be effected. Other than that I think I will wait until I'm done with the weight loss. Don't want it to end up looking droopy lol -
Creamy tomato soup
pookybear replied to crazedteacher's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lived off of tomato soup for the first 2 weeks, and it was on my approved list. If you're unsure, ask the nutritionist or someone at the surgeons office. I don't see why not if you're tolerating it fine. -
Pre-op tattoos on Post-op body.
pookybear replied to heygirl_143's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm wondering this myself. I have 5 tattoos but have been careful picking spots that I don't think would be effected too much. There are several others I want but I'm not sure how long I should wait. -
Internal Staples Question - what metal & reactions
pookybear replied to Cherry's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Each side of the cut stomach/pouch has 3 lines of the micro staples that stay in permanently -
So my paperwork tells me I should be eating 1/2 for each meal. Sometimes that's fine, other times I can't get that in. Today I barely ate 1/4 cup of my lunch and I was in the bathroom thinking I was going to be sick. Should I be trying to force myself to eat 1/2 cup? I don't want to get sick from not eating enough either. Sometimes I can literally only take 2 or 3 bites before I feel the pressure of fullness.
-
Thanks. Some days I can eat a full half cup and others I can barely eat anything.
-
I thought the same thing! Lol I thought it was way too easy at first.

What happens at Post Op 1 week visit?
pookybear replied to LeticiaHuggins's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got weighed, filled out a questionnaire, she checked my incisions, asked a couple questions....that was about it. -
Review your diet. Are you getting enough protein and liquids? How's your calorie intake, is it where it should be? I don't get dumping either, but I don't push it. If I have chocolate I stick to dark or sugar free. Stick to your recommended portion sizes and try adding in protein shakes or cheese snacks in between meals.
