Fabulous February Post-Op's
pookybear replied to ArmyWife&Mom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The Dr wouldn't refill the prescription of Prilosec she said I shouldn't have any issues and if I am it means I need to eat less or chew more. I've been eating the amount I was told by the nutritionist, which is 1/2 cup. Sometimes less. And I chew as much as humanly possible. She said I should only be eating 1 1/2 medicine cups of food. The nutritionist packet says 1/2 cup. I don't know, I'm just sick of being nauseous and gassy -

Fabulous February Post-Op's

Had my 6 week follow up today! Officially lost 30 pounds since surgery, and 50 total. She said I'm doing everything right and doing amazingly well. She said I make it look easy LOL -
Need snappy come back line

How about "I have a GREAT surgeon, I can give you his number. He could do wonders with you!" No? Too mean? Lol Seriously, I wouldn't even respond. Just ignore the comment and move on. Eventually if you ignore her enough she might take the hint and shut up. -
What ya eating tonight?

1/2 of a small Wendy's chili -
You may have also gained quite a bit from liquids in the hospital. You'll lose that first before your own body weight.

I take the Celebrate Calcium Citrate hot cocoa flavor. They're not bad. Chalky, but taste pretty good.

How can I tell I'm full? How do I know if I'm drinking slow enough?

Discomfort When Eating
pookybear replied to sottocat1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is how I feel if I eat too much or didn't chew enough. Try going back to softer foods or soups for a few days. Make sure you chew to the consistency of applesauce. I also found that when I came off the Prilosec I got sick very easily. Trying to get another months prescription. I'm almost 6 weeks out. -

more leftover burrito for dinner, but for lunch I had a hot dog. we were at the mall and there is this place that does hot dogs with all kings of toppings. I got a plain hot dog with shredded cheese and didn't eat the bun. not the greatest choice but the best I could do with what I had to choose from. -
My PCP said my best options would be the Nuca Ring or Depo shots, or tubiligation. I chose Depo. He sent a prescription to the pharmacy and wants me to start tomorrow. I called my surgeons office to make sure it's ok with the upcoming surgery, they said they don't really recommend anything but Norplant for me. She said Depo can cause decreased Calcium. She didn't say I couldn't take it, and I don't see why I can't just take extra calcium supplements, since I'll be taking them anyway. I don't want Norplant. She just confused me more than ever. Please, tell me positive things about Depo. I don't care about the issue with having kids after, we probably won't want children anyway. I just need to know this is ok to do.

Went out to El Mariachi tonight. I got a ground beef burrito with beans and rice. It was absolutely delicious. And I have leftovers for the entire weekend -
That would be flintstones....not clingstones.

Multivitamin and b-12 you can get anywhere. Walmart is the cheapest for the b-12. I got a bottle of 100 for $4.88. For the multivitamin I just use the target brand of clingstones complete. The only ones I have to get specialty are the calcium citrate.

Bowel prep is killing me!
pookybear replied to Jessica9190's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ugh that was the worst! I could barely finish the bottle. I didn't take it until 7:00 the night before and didn't go a whole lot after I did take it. -
No problems so far, can still do it just like pre-op

Tuna melt, minus the bread. Tuna and light mayo heated with melted cheese. Mmmm. -

Don't worry about being able to drink that much. If you're not feeling pain when drinking, you're fine. -

You can make yourself if you drink too quick. When was your surgery? Measuring is very important for the first few months, until you can learn to eyeball how much 1/2 cup is, or however large your serving should be. I measure out portions every day. -
Thanks! Everyone says they can see it in my butt and my face lol

My husband is Awesome

Awwwwww! -
So yesterday I ate 3 bites of my lunch and spent most of the time from 1:30-10:30 in the bathroom puking. I know the food I ate was way too spicy, I bought spicy ground turkey by accident. Today I ate plain canned chicken with mayo and again I feel so bloated and sick. The only difference in my diet is now I'm not on the Prilosec. I got the chewable Pepsid but it's not helping at all. I really hope I don't spend another day sick. I'm 5 weeks out today. Shouldn't my pouch be ready to be off the Prilosec?? I called the surgeons office and they are supposed to be sending out a refill to my pharmacy. I don't understand what I'm doing wrong. Other than yesterday, which was a fluke, nothing has changed in my diet. I've been fine on most foods, now I feel like everything I eat makes me gassy and nauseous.

I hear ya! Some days I can get my 64 in and then some with no problem, other days I don't even come close. Try a little more each day. And remember that milk, decaf tea and coffee, Soups, and your Protein Drinks all count towards your liquids.
