    constipation

The high amount of Protein can create constipation. Also, you may need a boost of Fiber in your diet since we don't absorb everything anymore. Constipation can also mean you're still not getting enough liquids, even with the larger amount that we drink.

    Remedy for constipation?

I asked the dr about this. She said constipation is one sign that you may not be getting enough liquids. Even if you meet your 64 ounces, if you have an ongoing issue with constipation try increasing your liquids.

    Remedy for constipation?

I have issues as well. I take Miralax 2 or 3 times a week, and I keep suppositories in the medicine cabinet as a back up.
  4. If you have to, stick with soup, applesauce, and other full liquids for a bit longer. It's possible your pouch just isn't ready for foods yet. At least full liquids have some nutrients in them. You may find that after a few days of just that you feel a bit better.

Dangers of Sugar Free - how much is too much?

I personally avoid most artificial sweeteners and just use regular sugar in moderation. A lady I work with cut out all artificial sweeteners from her diet and had a headache for a week.
  6. You NEED to eat, even if it's not much. You need fuel for your body to be able to lose weight. Most people don't feel hungry. But you have to eat.

    Bananas

I eat a whole banana almost every day. I usually eat it with peanut butter as a mid-morning snack. I don't eat much else for fruit so I figure I'm allowed a banana as long as I have some protein with it.
  8. I like Fiber One protein cereal. I get the cranberry one. I don't put milk or yogurt in it, I just eat it like granola.

    Pain?

Everyone's experiences are different. I, for one, had virtually no pain. I filled my pain meds but never even opened the bottle. All I had was some mild discomfort that I was able to take liquid Tylenol for. My incisions were a little sore, but mainly only the one under my boob and the one on my waist line, and it was from the skin rubbing.

    Protein bars

I never asked my nutritionist, but I started them once I was on solid foods

    Fabulous February Post-Op's

Less than a week until my one year! Down 127 since surgery, 147 total (I was required to lost 20 before surgery). I was hoping to be down more by my one year, but I'm fine with where I am! My goal is to lost a total of 200 lbs, which would put me at 219. I don't know if I'll make it there, but as long as I get below 250 I will be a happy girl. I wouldn't want to be below 200, I don't want to be really skinny. I like being curvy and having meat on me And as long as I'm healthy, the number doesn't matter. And with my frame, I think anything below 219 I'd start to look sickly lol I have not set foot in a plus size store in I can't tell you how long (other than Lane Bryant for bras and underwear). I paid off my Avenue charge card and cut it up, won't be using that anymore! I've been enjoying being able to shop at Walmart, Old Navy, Savers, etc. I love it, I can get nice clothes and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg! People at work keep telling me I'm getting so skinny. I laugh, because I'm still in a size 18-22 which is not skinny. But when you compare that to how big I was, yeah I guess I can see what they mean! But the best thing is that when I walk in a room, I feel like I blend in. It doesn't feel like people stare at me anymore, I feel like I go unnoticed. Which sounds weird, but I love it. I feel 'normal', I don't feel like I stand out for being the fattest one anymore
  14. I didn't read all the replies, but I definitely know how you feel. Surgery and recovery were nothing for me. The hardest part was going two weeks without being able to eat any real food, and still having to watch everyone around me eat. I had may days where I cried from frustration. Once or twice, I actually would chew something, then spit it out. Sounds gross, but there were times when the urge to chew something just got the best of me. I know it's not much help, but keep in mind that this period that you're in will last only a short time. You WILL progress, you WILL be able to eat more and more things, and it WILL get better. You made a positive change that will last the rest of your life. No great change comes without struggles. But making it over these hurdles will make you appreciate your efforts and changes that much more.
  15. Either of those would be fine. Keep in mind that the nutritional values are for an entire meal and you'll be eating a very small amount. So you'll be getting far less calories, fats, etc. than what is listed. Go with what sounds good to eat. As long as you're picking something that doesn't have horrifying nutritional numbers, you'll be fine They also have a citrusy chicken dish, I can't remember the name. That's pretty fair in nutritional value as well.

    PROTEIN HELP PLEASE!

Have you tried unsweetened almond milk? It's lactose free and it tastes great in Protein Drinks.
  17. Keep in mind, carbs also includes sugars and fiber. Of course you want less sugar, but you want more fiber. Higher carbs is OK if it includes a good amount of fiber. If it's mostly empty carbs and sugar, not so much lol

    PROTEIN HELP PLEASE!

Mine doesn't, unfortunately. I check everywhere I go. I finally gave in and went to the nutrition store.
  19. Body Fortress also makes a soy protein I believe. I've seen it in the store before. If you are allowed to have decaf coffee, the vanilla is great in place of milk and sugar.
  20. Peanut butter is great too, especially PB2
  21. Eggs, turkey, tuna, and chicken are all big on protein. Most can be eaten in the soft food stage.
  22. I'm the same way, though there are a few things I buy low fat. Mayonnaise, salad dressing, and sour cream are the main ones. I never buy anything fat free, unless it's naturally fat free. Too many additives are put into fat free stuff. I usually eat my banana with Peanut Butter. I get Skippy reduced fat peanut spread. 'Spread' is different from 'butter'. Less oils and fats are added in.
  23. I eat fruit all the time. I have a banana every day. Maybe it depends on how you can tolerate sugar.
  24. My nutritionist had told me it counts as both. Same with soup, yogurt, etc.
  25. I was cleared for everything, swimming included, after 4 weeks.
