how has your surgery changed your life?
n32382 replied to Lovebone89's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I took a pic with a group of friends, when i saw the pic i realized that i wasnt the biggest person in the pic. Yeah me 105lbs down in 5 months:-) -
I had my surgery on 8/8/12. My starting weight was 376, and i was diagnosed with all the extra fixings. Diabetes, high cholestrol, high blood pressure, thyroid issues and more. My surgery was really smooth, i had one complication three weeks after a spent a week in the hospital. Ive been good since then. As of my last weigh in on Friday i am done to 271! I feel great! My energy level is up, my confidence is through the roof. Unfortunately b4 my surgery i did not know about thos forum, i went in to this blind. I did not know anyone else who went through this and i did i did not know what expect. The only i regret is not doing this sooner. Don't worry the whole process is not as complicated as it seems. Just be on top of what ur surgeon request of you and you will be ok.

I wouldnt it. Because u are basically good to go.

I have not heard as of yet any being denied by medicaid. Check your medicaid plan, find out which plan ur Dr. accept and make sure. Each medicaid plan has there own requirements. When i went to my seminar , i was advised to switch to the medipass plan because they move fast.

The few people that i know in south florida who has had the surgery, the process was not that long. Thats with medicaid and other insurance providers.
-
Its required by medicaid and most other insurance.
-
If u havent yet, expect to have to see a nutritionist and a pyc. Also expect to have an endoscpy to check p hplori.

She did her surgery Naples because she said that the hospital there had less requirements than Lee county.

I have a friend that had a gastric sleeve done by Dr. Bass on Dec. 17. She has insurance and her prosess only took 2 months. I know that u have to have at least a record of your weight. If you have a primary that u have seen in the past for at least six months and they have a records of ur weigh in,then thats all u need. Dr. Bass never told my friend that she had to be on a weightloss plan. The process with medicaid is fast. The only thing that might hold u up is your Dr.

I was never told that was a requirement. My surgeon's office took care of everything for me as far as to get me qualified. At the seminar everyone was told to have a physic evaluation, and we were refered to a nutritionist. They basically told me what to do and i did it. On the first visit they set up a date for my endoscopy. Once that was cleared i recieved a date.

Hummmm. I really dont have one set regiman. It took me a while to understand that I cannot eat the way I use to. Ive tried to run to the type of foods that brought me confort in the past, but that doesnt work anymore. It took me 4 months to start working out, because I wasnt really motivated and because I'm currently unemployed I cant afford a gym membership. Now I go walking at the park at least 4days a week. I've turned to youtube to show me the proper way to do certain excerises at the park. I dont keep an accurate count on how many miles I walk, i just do it and its a stress reliever for me. I refuse to buy a scale because I dont want to become obsessed with it. I weigh my self twice a month at the Dr. office. I measure my weightloss success when I do things that I havent done in years, like polishing my toenails or putting on my socks and shoes with ease. I know i have along to go, Im content with the progress I ve made so far.

Thanks. Im only 4 months in and i cant believe how much my body has changed.

I had my surgery 8/8/12. I have lost 80lbs so far. I was wearing a size 30 now im down to a size 18. In the begining it was hard to adjust to this lifestyle but as the days passed it became easier. Im falling in love with myself again. I love it!

It all depends on your insurance. Fortunately for me I had state Medicaid so the process went by so quick. Once I saw the psychiatrist and the nutritionist I had to have a endoscopy, which unfortunately came back positive for H pylori, that set back my surgery date 2 weeks. So it took me about 3 months to have everything done it would have been shorter.

I remember how excited I was when I started this process. Doctor Sosa works really quick you will love your results. The whole process for me took about 3 months it would have been shorter if I would've passed the H pylori test.

Thank you. Dr. Sosa is a great Dr. Youre in good hands.
