Whoa Gen that is insane!!!! And crazy scary. That's awful the way your hospital handled everything saying you're fine when clearly you weren't. I'm soooo glad this other hospital found the root of the problems. I hope that this all can be cleared up quickly without surgery for you!!!

    Protein-To-Go?

I looked on their website and they use a hydrolyzed whey protein. Check with your nut. In reading on the hydrolyzed protein most docs and nuts seem to be against them but I've read some posts where their doc and nut gives them the OK.

Is anyone else struggling with making poor food choices early on? I'm kicking myself. I'm only 4 weeks out. Ugh. Just frustrated. I mean, it's nothing like I used to eat but I'm reading all these other posts and know that I need to be making MUCH better choices. I want to. I usually check out things on MFP prior to eating. But I didn't today. I finished lunch and thanks to that honey mustard my calorie intake was 660. Whoa!! Without the honey mustard it would have been 380. But seriously 660 in one sitting - that's the most ever post surgery. Lots of people at 4 weeks out have a hard time getting 600 a day let alone in one meal. Why am I able to intake so much at one time? Has anyone else messed up??
  4. Liquid tylenol cold works great.

    Platue at 4 months

85 pounds in 4 months?? Amazing job!!! But plateaus are frustrating for anyone especially an extended one. I'm only about a month out so I have zero experience!! But how is your protein intake, still up high?

    Just starting out

Hello Amanda and welcome! That's exciting you had your informational meeting. Do you have a time frame for when you may have the surgery? Do you have a 3 month, 6 month wait? Everyone is super helpful here so feel free to ask anything!

    yikes!

I made the same mistake last night!! I know what you mean about the momentary lapses. I chewed just normally and I paid for it. First time I threw up but glad I did. I hope yours gets unstuck soon. That feeling is pretty wicked!

    Getting sick!

I used the nyquil equivalent for 3 days. I used the night time one during the day too as it was all I had at the time.

    Getting sick!

I used a store brand equivalent to liquid nyquil and it was fine for me as the main ingredient was acetaminophen. I don't know if it's on the "approved" list. When it ran out I did get the tylenol cold though.
  10. That is amazing! Congratulations!!
  11. That's weird. Maybe they meant no jello pudding but yes to the gelatin? Or no to the regular jello but yes to sugar free? I'm not sure why but if it's a no to all jello then I would follow it. Sorry I don't have a better answer! Did you ask them for clarification or ask them why?

    Cold Medicine

liquid Tylenol cold medicine is good. Just make sure whichever brand you buy has acetaminophen in it instead of the other stuff. I've got an awful cold now too. Ugh it's awful!! Hope you feel better soon!

I was wondering the same thing. Seems like no one has. This is a long time to not hear from her. I'm really worried. I hope she is okay.
  14. Oh and even if you didn't mean it literally I'm still sending you hugs of reassurance!!! {{hugs}} haha
  15. Hey Tim! That's wonderful that you have made this decision for you and for that daughter of yours! I also had the lapband prior to RNY. It helped me lose a little weight and maintain that small weight loss. But around the 4 year mark I had complications and had to have it removed. I gained 100 pounds in a year and knew I had to do something. I had surgery on 12/10. Anyways I say all of that to say I understand what the band life is like and now I'm here. You're right there are complications from RNY and we have some here with some serious things they've had to face. But you are also right that the number without complications outweigh those with. I wish no one had to experience them. But think about your life. Do those potential risks and problems outweigh your current situation and quality of life? Probably so or you wouldn't be scheduled for surgery in two days. :-) Most of us here don't regret having the surgery and it's saved lives!! I'm only a little more than two weeks post op. Sure I've had those moments of "what did I do??" but those are normal thoughts as you adjust to the changes. You will have up and down moments. I am so glad I had the surgery. Even only being down 19 pounds, I love finally feeling full and satisfied!! I love that strangely my back problems have already vastly improved even though I haven't lost that much weight. I love that I feel better already, seeing the scale move and I am looking forward to the future. You are doing a great thing. These boards are an awesome support system for when you go through the low times and getting adjusted and to see you are not alone. I wish you the best and welcome!!
