  1. Go for it... please! I also thought i could do it all by myself with another program or diet BUT i finally knew i would fail again as i had all those previous years. If i couldnt get control of myself to the tune of 140 lbs. overweight I knew i needed extra help and that i would never do it on my own. I was banded on 7-12-07 and have not regretted it one minute. It has already changed my life. i have lost 50 lbs already and buying new clothes and everyone is noticing. I used to hide from people and not go out to functions etc but now already i am ready to go out and let people see the new me evolving. This has made me already soooooo very happy!!! Do it... dont wait... it will be the key that will open up a whole new world that u can hold your head high and sneak a glance of yourself in a mirror and be proud instead of avoiding mirrors. I was terribly depressed and now not at all.. my blood pressure went from 100 on bottom to 68 on bottom in 2 weeks after surgery. I had problems with my knees etc because of the weight on them and now i am walking everyday and exercising daily and with no pain.. The lapband has freed me from the prison i was in and set me free! If you want to be a happy person then reward yourself and go for it. Saving money and not spending it like for the surg. is not a good decision because what do u need the money for if you arent around to spend it because the weight got the best of you if u know what i mean! Do this just for you! Brenda/vamaillady

    scared of dying

Go for it!!!! You run more of a chance of dying by NOT going for the surgery..I too cried and worried and the family didnt want me to do it JUST because it was a chance of dying during surg. only a tiny chance... well i knew it was MORE of a chance of dying if i DIDNt do it... So i prayed and left it in Gods hands and now i came thru the surg. and have lost 49 lbs in 3 1/2 mo. and now can live a better life... in life we all have to take chances or we wouldnt even exist... daily we take chances...I too was very worried that i could die during surg... but Life isnt up to us anyway... we have to live...so go for it... I did just that and scared as Hell... sorry...and i am 53 and i did fine and am soooooooo happy i took the plunge... pray and then smile and go for it... you will never regret it ...Brenda/Vamailady

    scared of dying

i totally enjoyed reading what u wrote about your journey with the lapbanding... i too felt the very same way as you did.. worried about dying during surgery or not wakening..i love my 2 kids so very much and my husband doesnt have a weight problem either.. and they all thought i was taking such a risk and i told them all the things u said ... it was like reading exactally what i said to them before the surg. But God heard us both and let us live after surgery to enjoy our family and a better life then what we had feeling the stares in public and yes i had the same problem with the booths at restaurants... i would not choose that particular restaurant because i was afraid i couldnt fit in the seats or would break the chair.. thank God all is well and we can live a different life and not wait for the family to ride the rides at the theme parks and we wont have to hold the table instead of dancing we can now be a part of the scene and live life , the fun side again... thanks for sharing your story i totally enjoyed it.. i am 53 but a young 53, still look like i am 40ish and have lost 49 lbs since my surg. on july 12 07... i am looking well in my clothes and actually am getting some looks from men etc. which i dont know how to handle because they always avoided eye contact when i waS larger... we have to just get prepared for the onset of attention we will get from everywhere... i am happy now and changing daily.. it was a BIG risk to take but it outweighs benifits that we will enjoy ... the world is now OUR OYSTER and we can smile and enjoy instead of HIDE.. Been there... Done That as well as lots of people that come to this site...I say to All that wonder whether to GO for it with the surgery....JUST DO IT..It will open doors that you have never entered.... A friend to all lapbanders.... Brenda/Vamailady

    i'm sad, confused and hurt!

you mean business! i agree money doesnt love you or keep you warm and i am in awe of your decision... you have your priorities in the correct order... i wish u the very best...vamaillady
  7. you will be ok.. i had the same thing happen to me... couldnt get first fill til 6 weeks..i too had lost well the first couple weeks and then got hungrier.. but keep doing just what was Dr. ordered as far as food intake and it will all happen.. i went 2 weeks before i could get a fill and didnt lose a pound and then finally a few pounds came off again before the fill.. and some of the reason you fill full before the fill , like after surgery is because of the swelling from surgery and at 2 weeks out the swelling goes down and the hunger shows up...like i said still do the right diet and hang in there til your fill and u will be glad... not but a few more weeks to battle the big appetite because after the fills u wont have the big appetite anymore... take care and good luck.. i had the surgery july 12 o7 and have lost 25 pounds now.. Brenda/vamaillady
  8. you cant swallow pills after surgery..you have to crush the pills or take liquid form..i was hooked up to morphene pump after surg until i was discharged the next evening..but no more pills at all unless crushed says my dr...they will get stuck in the stoma...good luck...Brenda

    So Totally Discouraged

I am very very discouraged.. i was banded on july 12 07 and lost 16 pounds in 14 days.. was drinking the liquid diet.. 3 protein slim fast drinks a day and 64 oz water and then when i switched to regular food i havent lost a pound since. so 2 weeks without any loss. i am now having a slim fast for breakfast and lunch and 4 oz meal at dinner and 60 oz of water a day and not losing anything. in fact in the last 3 days i have gained 4 pounds and dont know how i did it because i havent been eating but one meal a day and that almost all protein...this is sooooooooo discouraging.. i read on the threads here where people that had the surgery the same date i did have lost 25 to 45 pounds in this month. help!!! i am trying so hard to get this right but seeing the scale go up makes me want to cry! 16. you are doing a good job so far as i can see... i am new at this and probally not typing in the right area but read your posting and could relate having kids and then look up one day and realizing i had gained bunches of weight.. walking slow is great and picking up the pace day by day and yes to be an example to your kids... much success i wish for you... i was banded just 4 days ago... good luck... vamaillady/brenda:clap2:=DanielleDeeAnne;514576]Hi I'm Danie I started at 284 pounds I'm 5'2 with a small frame and my BMI was over 50. I had the band done April 10th and as of june 4th ( my second fill) i had lost 40 pounds (244) and went from a size 28 to a size 22 with room. I have to admit I have started exercising because I want this weight off more than anything...I was never over weight I was a cheerleader and I was in pagents all my life ..I had 5 kids and BAMMMMMMMMM ...I turned into the side of a barn and the funny thing is I didnt really realize it ..How the heck does that happen??? lol NEway what i do to exercise since i have all these kids is I go to the middle school track about 6 30 pm and let the kids play on the play ground or race me around the track and i just slowly walk I figure slow is better than not at all. Plus doing it this way helps keep my children from getting in the same situation as we all benifit from it.
