I Need Some Advice....How do I keep from having flabby skin?
patsy1965 posted a topic in Fitness & Exercise
Does anyone know what I can do to keep from having flabby skin? A big problem is that I need a knee replacement and can't "walk" or ride a bike, etc. The only thing I can do for exercise is to go to an indoor pool and swim. -
Problems w/ Menstrual Cycle Since Surgery?
patsy1965 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm only 3 weeks post-op, but this week I started my menstrual cycle and to be blunt, I'm bleeding like a stuck hog!! My periods have been very light since I had an ablasion done several years ago. I don't understand why I'm doing this. I go back to dr. Dec. 31, but I'm just wanting to know if anyone else has had this problem????- 12 replies

Unsweetened Applesauce
patsy1965 replied to jessamarie24's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
While in the hospital, they opened up my capsules (I take 3 kinds) and put it in unsweetened apple sauce. I did just fine with it, even in the hospital, and still (3 weeks post-op), I still mix the capsules with it every night, and usually end up with 1/2 the cup gone (I buy the small individual cups) because of the amount of powder in the capsules. But everyone is different. I am 25 lbs. down...can't wait to go on down!!!!! GOOD LUCK!! -

Worst comment you've heard so far

My own mother was telling me that most ppl gain the weight back by stretching their stomach out. And she proceeded to tell me celebrities that gained it back. PLUS, several ppl told me it was dangerous. I did my research and did this for ME and my health!! -
My Nutritionist told me to only eat soft scrambled eggs during 1st month and it worked fine for me. I could put cheese on top of it, too. For ppl who don't know what soft scrambled is....it's eggs w/a little milk.

Friday Weigh-In!
patsy1965 replied to KevinsBabyGirl85's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Surgery Date: Dec. 6 This week I lost 5 more lbs. for a total of 26 lbs. Please see my post about menstrual cycles. -
I cooked a honey spiral ham for Christmas and I've eaten it for several meals now....no problem at all. I made sure to pick pcs. w/o fat.

My surgery was on Dec. 6 (3 weeks ago today). I'm already sick of eating the same ol' things. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm not anywhere near getting what I should in protein.

I have a new "best friend".... VITAMIN WATER ZERO (make sure you get the ZERO kind) - It has 100% Vit. C, 100% B5, B6, & B12, Vit. E & A, Zinc, Electrolytes, and Biotin (which helps to have healthy hair). I see it on sale a lot for $1.00 for a 20 oz. bottle. I've always drank a lot of water, and nothing else much, except a few diet drinks. But, I am one week post-op and I'm having trouble getting my fluids down, even water. 46 - 64 oz. a day seems like so much to me know. But, Vitamin Water Zero has so many flavors to choose from and I've enjoyed the ones I have tried (and I'm a picky drinker...no lemon in my tea - no aftertaste, etc.) Just thought I would pass along.

Friday Weigh-In!
patsy1965 replied to KevinsBabyGirl85's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh, no....I don't weigh every day because weight fluctuates. Only once a week is what I've always been told, so that's what I've always done...every diet. lol. So, I'm making my weigh-in day on Friday (if I can remember). lol Good luck!! -
Friday Weigh-In!
patsy1965 replied to KevinsBabyGirl85's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I find it fascinating to know the weight loss post-op. It's great, esp. being a newbie, to hear of the success and know how ppl are doing week to week. No worries about it, just like to hear it, and right now, I like to post my post-op loss and how long it has taken me to get there, as well. -
Do the SF jellies not still have too much sugar? I've always used the SF anyway. I'm only 1 week post-op, so I'm not eating that kind of stuff anyway..yet.

Still on pureed at week 4?? I've done that one week, then according to mypackets, should be on soft foods Weeks 2 -4. I'm post-op 1 week exactly today and go to see the Dietician Monday, the 17th. So, I will talk to her more about everything. I'm making notes with my questions.

Friday Weigh-In!
patsy1965 replied to KevinsBabyGirl85's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, I woke up thinking it was Friday, so guess what! I weighed. It's been exactly one week today since my surgery. Oh, and I have a question. Do you count the day of your surgery as post-op? I'm asking because I've noticed some new ppl counting it and some not. I'm a newbie, too, of course. Anyway...... I'm down 10 lbs. plus the 5 gained in the hospital from all the fluids, etc. -
I'm trying to figure out what to do about my meds, also. I take A LOT of meds. When I get up in the morning, I crush them, and a little at a time, I mix them with water (in a 1 oz. cup) and take them. I end up taking in 4 oz. of fluid in the morning right of the bat. So, I'm scared to eat anything when I get up. Also, the 3 calcium chews....I chew one after meds, then wait a few minutes, or whenever, and spread those out. So, then there's my night time meds, including capsules. I crush the pills and do the same routine with those....but was told to break open the capsules and mix with applesauce. I have about 4 capsules at night (one of them is huge). So, I feel like I'm taking in too much applesauce sometimes. It's confusing. I'm 6 days post-op, so I need all the advise I can get. I'm still TRYING to maneuver on this site. lol. I was horribly sick Sunday night...up on and off all night vomiting, which turned into diarrhea. Help appreciated!!

I really need help. I'm 4 days post-op and I was up sick all night last night....
patsy1965 posted a topic in Food and Nutrition
Help me, please. I was up all night sick (post-op Day 4). I've still been quesy today. I also cannot seem to get in all the fluid I need. I've always drank A LOT of water, but now I'm scared of drinking too much, too fast. I feel like I went a step backward last night. Being sick was HORRIBLE and I don't want to be that way again!! -
Retaining too much fluid can cause that, too. Sometimes I can see with my glasses and sometimes I can't. My surgeon said that could be why, for sure.

My surgery was Dec. 6th.

Wow!! 3 weeks on liquids before surgery?? I only had liquids the day before surgery.
