Second Guessing Surgery!
tinkycheeks replied to twiztedpixxiee's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I felt the same way. I had days when it was all I could do not to call my surgeon and back out. In fact, even on the operating table before they put me to sleep, if just one person would have asked me if I was sure I wanted to go through with it, I would have answered no. I actually remembering praying that no one would give me an out. The fact is that without the surgery, I would still be morbidly obese. I was in a size 24, always tired, always moody, and hit my emotions in food. Now six months later, I'm in a size 10, so much healthier, so much happier, and I'm learning how to feel emotions instead of bury them. I have loose skin in my stomach and arms. And you know what? I don't care. I'm 33 and would love to be firm. But every bit of loose skin is worth how I feel now. Dave did an amazing job pointing out the health benefits, but those aside, just the way I feel inside is worth it all. -
RNY ON APPLE SHAPED.....
tinkycheeks replied to reshiapooh96's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I'm apple shaped. I've had four children and at five months post op, I still carry most of my weight in my tummy area. My arms, too, actually. I will absolutely need a tummy tuck or at least panni in the future. -

How about some NSVs!?!?
tinkycheeks replied to shyanne's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love this. I bought this killer pair of heels a few years back, and they've been collecting dust in my closet ever since. I can't wait until I don't feel like I'm going to break my ankle wearing them! -
You look incredible. Congrats on the normal BMI!

Emotional eating and dealing with stress
tinkycheeks posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I knew before surgery that I was an emotional eater, but I never realized how deep it went until recently. Without using food to cope, I'm now seeing that I have no idea how to deal with stress before letting it get out of control. Now that you're post op. what are some things you do to get a grip on your emotions or handle the stress in your life? -
Emotional eating and dealing with stress

Thanks for the great suggestions. I think I'm going to try to take up running and see if that helps with the stress level. -

Heavier, painful and closer together. Also, I'm a complete monster to be around. It wasn't like this before for me. -
Finally going to post a picture...

Hi everyone. Just wanted to check in. I had my surgery on May 7th. I'm on full liquids and am doing great with getting my liquids and protein in. It gets easier, I promise! I'm still in quite a bit of pain on the left side, which may be nerve damage from a slipped drain. We are just watching it now and hoping it eases up. Part of it, I'm sure, is having four kids and not resting as I should. I'm down 11 pounds from surgery weight, 29 from pre op diet start. My clothes are definitely fitting better! Also, I have completely stopped snoring! Sorry I haven't been around that much. I keep getting annoyed with myself. After months of waiting and thinking of practically nothing but this surgery, my mind is exhausted. Lol! I'm reading along and cheering you all on, though.

I don't have any experience or advice, but I did want to let you know you're in my thoughts and prayers. I'm so proud of you for making a hard decision and doing what's best for you. If you ever need a friend, I'm always available!!!!

I'm doing well. I got to come home today, which makes me so happy. I missed my kids! My surgeon wants us to use the first week to concentrate on getting Water in, so I'm not on Protein shakes until next week. I'm pretty sore on my left side, but otherwise I feel great. Definitely not hungry!!! I'm excited to start losing weight and see where this next phase of my life leads.

I just wanted to check in. Surgery went perfectly. They found a small hernia and were able to fix it. I wasn't able to walk last night as every time I sat up, I threw up. I feel much better this morning and am hoping for a better day. I go for my upper G I in about an hour.
