    Eating Anything and Everything!

Have you been losing a lot of weight despite being able to eat so much?
  2. Hey guys, I am just a little over two weeks out from surgery, and I find that I can eat anything without consequence. This is pretty disappointing, as I was expecting to at least have some belly pain or even dump from certain foods, but I haven't so far, and I feel like I am pushing it. I am not very headstrong with my diet lately, and its only been 16 days! My significant other was eating a big ol' bag of lays barbecue chips in bed next to me... and I jumped right in and started munching, thinking "just a few and I'll chew them really well" but I ended up eating about 15 handfuls. Not even a stomach ache. I was also bad on Christmas and had a big bowl of cheesy buttery broccoli casserole and some mashed potatoes. I know I shouldn't be eating so much... heck I'm supposed to have just started my purée diet on Christmas Day, but I have been eating more than I expected, and I think it's all in my head. I still crave food, and that's the issue! I just give in! How do you guys deal with your cravings without giving in, especially if nothing makes you sick?!
  3. Plain water hurts my pouch, so I drink crystal light. I'm always having these little burps though, especially when I eat. Seems like I let out one or two burps per spoonful of food. It's strange.
  4. I miss: Baconators from Wendy's Double Cheeseburgers with Big Mac sauce from McDonald's Chalupas from Taco Bell Greasy crispy bacon pizza Soda & Peppermint stick ice cream Losing weight feels better though
  5. No I've lost 45 pounds since I started my journey. I've lost 15 pounds since the surgery. 15 pounds in 8 days.
  6. By the way I've lost 45 pounds since I started my journey... 15 pounds since the surgery 8 days ago! Yay!
  7. Hey guys thanks for the advice. I have been drinking a lot more lately. I went to my post-op appointment with my surgeon today and told him how I felt. He took my pulse and learned that I was tachycardic. He wanted to send me to the hospital, but instead made me sit and drink a bottle of water, and make an appointment to see him the day after tomorrow. I'm doing much better now that I'm drinking more. So fellow post-ops remember to drink A LOT! Don't end up like me!
  8. Hey all, It's been a week today since my gastric bypass surgery, and lately I am becoming weaker and weaker. I'll admit that I haven't been doing my Water or my Protein, and when I thought it was a lack of protein making me so weak and tired, I started making my shakes yesterday, even though my full liquids stage didn't start until today. I had one shake yesterday (1/2 in the afternoon then 1/2 at night) and I've had a half of a shake so far today. I also had a sugar free popsicle yesterday as well as today, and a few sips of water. The issue is that I cannot stand for long. I get very weak and lightheaded, and feel as though I'm going to pass out. I just went downstairs to make a shake and after I was done blending I had to drop what I was doing to run to a chair, because I was getting so weak I was starting to black out. I had to sit down with my eyes closed for about 10 minutes praying I wouldn't pass out or puke. Does anyone else have this issue? I'm probably just going to get lectured about how I need to hydrate more and eat more. It seems so hard to get anything in and I'm sick of broth. Any suggestions? I have a job interview tomorrow and I really don't want to pass out during it, or have to excuse myself! Thanks, Sue

    December Dates

Hey all! I am brand new to this forum and so excited I found it today! I sent in my paperwork for approval on November 9th and was approved for surgery in early December within a week! My surgery date is December 11th. I started out at 335 pounds, and at my last weigh in (5 days ago) I was 320. I've been on my pre-op liquid diet for four days now. It's pretty tough, but I'm getting by. I cheated twice, which I'm pretty ashamed of. The first day my girlfriend convinced me to bring her to McDonald's (she doesn't have a car) and then talked me into eating "my last meal" so I had a couple double cheeseburgers. After that I felt pretty bad, and I've been sticking to three to four optifast protein shakes a day (I am supposed to do 6) and one protein bar a day (I am supposed to have 2). Yesterday I slept in, and then only had a few sips of water throughout the day, but at night, my girlfriend brought a turkey and cheese wrap up to the bedroom, and offered me a piece. I ended up eating about three or four big bites. It was low fat, but it still made me feel awful. Cheating is cheating no matter what you eat! So far today I had half a protein shake, and I am ignoring my tummy rumbling. I feel like I can do this! I have come so far. I quit smoking cold turkey almost a year ago, got my girlfriend to quit (which felt harder than quitting myself!) and I gave up soda last week, which I felt totally addicted to. I think I'm doing pretty well! Feeling proud of myself right now. Just thought I'd share a little bit of my story!
