    Diet soda....

The carbonation can stretch your stomach out causing you to be able to eat more... Which means you won't lose as much weight... Just be careful. Don't over do it. I waited 6 months out to try it again and it wasn't as awesome as I remembered... Don't get me wrong , years later I love soda again. ... I'd just avoid it until you get to your desired weight

Oh gosh .. PROTEIN.... Ugh! I hated HATED the protein. I was always being told I needed to get more protein in all the time. I struggled with that the whole time. I ate a lot of the same things... Scrambled egg, canned chicken, canned tuna, cream soups, refried beans, yogurt, I would make fruit smoothies with yogurt and put in protein powder... I sadly really never found any kind of protein shake I liked. They all taste terrible to me. ... I HOPE you have better luck than me. Since I was horrible with getting in all the protein I needed I lost a TON of hair when I hit my 3 months out. I had thin hair anyway.. So be careful. Just do your very best. This is my hair when I lost most of it... TERRIBLE .... Luckily it did grow back.

Stay strong!!!! You got this. I think I stared at a lot of people eating. I started changing my thoughts to things like "holy crap, are they even chewing the food?!... they just keep shoveling it in without a thought... thats so gross....wait, is that what I used to look like????....." I just became thankful for having the RNY keep me in check and change my perspective. What helped me was watching others YouTube videos...ya know, the documentaries of their journeys. It helped me not feel alone... but at the same time I enjoyed being different and having something special. I didn't even know this app existed until a year ago.. Oh well. Ha!

    Young Gastric Bypass Patients

Lol. I know what you mean! The soft foods isn't the best weeks of your life. The first couple months are rough.. more emotionally though. It's hard when food is no longer an option. Makes you feel lost. I love the way it makes you realize just how much we ate though. Puts everything into perspective. I was in denial about how much I was truly addicted to food. I was convinced there was something wrong with me and I couldn't lose weight. .... Anyway.... I just had a change of heart and kept my eye on the prize. In a way I became addicted to losing weight. I walked a lot. Just walked. I didn't have any sugary foods for like a year..not even licking a spoon.. Extreme, I know. .. But, I had my surgery in September I was 301 lbs by the time 1 year went by I was 115 lbs. I never... NEVER thought I could be like this. I've never been "small" in my whole life. When the nurses asked me to make a goal I said 120... They said "how about something more reasonable, like 160" ... I agreed but in my head I wasn't going to settle for anything less than 120. We'll now I just fluctuate between 115 and 120 and I weigh myself still every week just to keep myself in check. ... Anyways... I'm SO excited for you!!!! I hope you have the same success that I had. Just be strict and don't you dare cheat when it comes to food.

    Having second thoughts....

I was WAY nervous before. I couldn't believe I was actually doing it,.... But holy cow I am Soooooooooo happy I didn't back out! I would NEVER be where I am today if I hadn't done it. I'd probably still be 300 lbs and "trying" to lose weight or being on some new diet.... It never worked. The RNY works. I'd do it again if I had to... Luckily I'll never have to feel sad about my weight again.

What Did I Do? Dumping On Fat?

I will be six years out tomorrow!! ... And guess what??... I STILL have dumping syndrome if I eat too much, too fast, too much fat or sugar.... However, six years later and I've still kept off all 175 lbs I lost. So, to me it may be horrible but because of its constant discipline it's a blessing really.

Help! 3 days out post gastric bypass

We all go through an emotional roller coaster. Just focus on why you're doing this. Believe me, when you step on the scale next week you'll be happier. If you're anything like me you probably feel a little lost. I ate waaaaay more than I thought I did and I ate when I was bored, sad, happy, or whatever.... when that option is taken away you feel lost. Take the time to figure out what your new obsession will be. I know I watched a thousand YouTube videos of people's weight loss journeys... perhaps you could document your own. Just remember, you're not alone. It's normal to feel the way you are. Dont blame others for your emotions. Take one day at a time and before you know it you'll be looking in the mirror at a whole new person. A happier, healthier, sexier person.

    Taste buds

I think most people's tastes change after surgery. Lots of foods I lived before I thought were disgusting later and foods that I usually didn't care for tasted Soo good. It's all backwards. Protein drinks were a giant challenge for me. I tried hundreds of them and all of them tasted nasty to me.

    Naked...

I will eventually. I'd like to have a breast lift and my thighs and butt lifted. You'd be crazy to do them all at once though. The tummy tuck alone took me a month to even stand up straight and not have to walk with a walker. Totally worth it though!

    Naked...

I had the RNY when I was 22. I lost 175 lbs. I ended up getting a tummy tuck 5 years later because I tried everything under the sun to get a tight stomach. Believe me, no amount of creams or sit ups will get rid of saggy skin. Period.

    26 looking for a buddy

    Younger Guys (25-)

I know I'm a girl but I'll share me opinion anyway. I had the RNY done when I was 22. I chose it for a few reasons. For one, it's the most known, the most researched, the one with the most results. Second, I wanted something I couldn't reverse, take back or cheat at it. I knew if I could get around it some how I would. I needed that true discipline from the gastric bypass. .. Anyway, I'm glad I did it. I've heard too many horror stories about the lap and and the sleeve and the mini-gastric... I had 100% success. I went in weighing an even 300 lbs and today I'm 115.

  23. Hey! I am in the Joplin area. I'm 5 years out. I had my surgery done when I was 22. Ask me anything anytime. I'd love to help or just be a support.
  24. Yes!! I started at 300 lbs on the dot and today I weight 115!!!! I was always the fat girl. I had tried pills, trainers, all the diets, doctors, dietitians... Nothing worked. I would lose some and then gain more. WLS was the best decision I ever made! I've never been so happy with myself. I'm no longer ashamed. I can be the person I always wanted to be. Nothing holds me back!
