    December Dates

We have, I believe, 9 people having surgery this week after Christmas. I wish all of you the best of luck and I have to concur with the above statement. I have 1 incision point tht gives me the most pain to this day, but I have been off pain med since the day after coming home due to it not affecting me. Actually when I was in the hospital nurses kept telling me I can push the button on the pump for pain med cuz I hardly ever used it. When I did use it, i fell asleep. So when they said that " I could give the button a push " i would and fall asleep, lol. I hope every surgery goes as well and the tolerance to pain is very good. Most of the pain was getting out of the darn hospital bed especially the first time, not to mention the gas. May there be no complications. If there is, may they be minor and easily fixed. Best wishes and good luck. Gen :-)

I was doing some reading yesterday. What I had read is that at the point we're at it is rather hard to stretch the pouch. The reason being is the liquids basically just slide right thru which is why we have to wait after eating before drinking. Plus I was actually doing some logical thinking, woohoo, and I would think we might rip stitches with too much stretching. That would Only seem logical and on liquids virtually sliding right on thru non stop not much of a build up to stretch. Cuz again if we didn't wait after eAting the water would wash everything thru. Now once we are eating more solid, non pureed, whole foods like steak, I can see stretching being a little easier. Does that make sense? It did to me so hopefully those who have a post op follow up soon could maybe ask your Dr. Now with that being said, don't eat n eat n eat. I just think as we get rid of the gas and pain our intake is higher which is why we have to have at least 60g of protein n at least 64oz of water cuz the pouch can do it and not stretch. I truly think you'll like it. I've heard from others it is good in Jello but I haven't tried it. There is a large list of potential uses for unjury's unflavored protein. I got it to help meet my protein requirements while getting in the fluids. What a great 2 in 1!!! Gen :-)6/2012 - 267 : preop -->237 1 week post op. --> 226

Cuz we are on mainly liquids, hardly anything builds up in our bowels. My Dr recommended some milk of Magnesia. But he said he would also suggest a suppository first to see if that will work instead of MoM for the first couple weeks. I used a suppository the other day cuz it had been 6 days, (this will b TMI) but hardly anything was released. If you feel pain is cuz you can go then try a glycerin suppository. I have one incision on my left side that is more painful than all the others. It is the only one that hurts when I laugh, cough, sneeze, etc. However in your case have you thought maybe a UTI? Gen :-)6/2012 - 267 : preop -->237 1 week post op. --> 226

Www.unjury.com or amazon.com The protein is lite and not thick or gross. My Dr office gave me a couple samples and I love it in crystal light due to no change in taste. I ordered 3 containers which will be here Monday so I can't wait :-) they have rather fast shipping. The get the order out the same or next day depending on time order was placed. Hope this helps. I eat 1/2 a Danon Lite n Fit vanilla Greek yogurt a day. (Not in 1 sitting but 2). It has 2xs the protein and has less carbs than all other yogurts. It has about 12g protein and it is 80 calories for the full serving. So 6g of protein and only 40 cals a day is worth it for me. Gen :-)6/2012 - 267 : preop -->237 1 week post op. --> 226

I use Wellesse' date=' which can be found at most drugstores, Walmart. Taste like a orange sherbet. After you shake it, it becomes frothy and taste not bad. This is one of my nut n Dr recommendations.

I am going to assume week one is losing the water weight gained while in hospital and due to our bodies try to hold on to what it can. Hopefully week 2 will be much better. Gen :-)

For the calories I take in I would thing that I would lose more weight. When I went in on surgery day I was 237, that is down from 267 6 months ago. I guess I shouldn't complain. When I came out of the hospital, I was down 3. That was Wednesday morn, day after coming home. Gen :-)
