Great Job Blues. I hope to meet you there in 2-3 weeks. Can't wait. Tomorrow I start going to the gym. I started a membership it comes w the free training. I plan on taking advantage of it since I'm not trained and may need the motivation. My daughter has wanted to sign up. So New Year, new me. Need to get motivated and the gym is how it's going to happen. Gen :-) 12/15/12

    Eating after Gastric Bypass

Remember it takes 20 minutes for the full signal to reach the brain. Now w us who are still building nerves we may not get the signal. We need to measure. My Dr said the most successful people measure, even 5 years out. If you know your friend can only eat 2, then stop at 2. Your body will hopefully feel satisfied a while after the 2. But measuring is key. In the morn, I am hungry most days. This afternoon, I had to go by the clock so that I wouldn't fall short on Proteins or throw the rest of my day off to where I would have to eat too late. Gen :-) 12/15/12

Danon lite n Fit Greek vanilla yogurt has 12g protein. If you want some flavor to it you could purée a little bit of natural, no sugar added peaches or other no sugar added fruits. I love the greek yogurt and it always completes my proteins. You could also try adding just a little of the vanilla protein to the yogurt, 1/4 of the scoop. I also mix protein powder to cream of wheat. Today I don't have to have a shake and if I do have a shake, I'll reach 89g protein due to the protein cream of wheat and the yogurt. You could try some chocolate protein in chocolate pudding. Vanilla protein in vanilla pudding. I haven't tried the injury chicken protein. I know the chocolate unjury is good but I don't use it. I know that my taste buds are changing and sometimes it's difficult to drink the shakes. The other morning I literally had to force the shake down. Took me about an hour and usually doesn't. But I try hiding it if I can. The smoothies are the best idea. I didn't use milk when making mine. I used water. But now i would use milk for extra protein. Also sometimes I would add the greek yogurt for extra kick of protein, instead of milk. That is what I ate before preop diet. I would use frozen fruit. There are so many of them: berries, mango, strawberry, pineapple, etc. Gen :-) 12/15/12

You're welcome. I thought I would bring up coming home cuz yes that seems to be a consensus for those of us after surgery. But when going into surgery, I never had the thought. When you're in the hospital being taken care of and then the thought of being on your own is a little overwhelming. But once I got home, the anxiety of it went away. I wanted to let you all know that feeling is normal as well. Gen :-) 12/15/12

All natural feelings. Especially adding that nervous in there 2 times I was VERY nervous, excited, so ready. Don't be surprised if you are all of those when you get released from the hospital. I was nervous cuz even though I knew what to eat I was nervous about getting everything consumed that I needed too. I had everything ready for me when I arrived home, however I was still nervous. But then leaving the hospital felt so good and it was good to be home. Good luck all surgeries for the 7th. Congrats you made it and prayers are with you for an uneventful recovery. Gen :-) 12/15/12

Tat2girl: I had issues with my loss too. I actually gained due to dehydration...but I'm losing now. I average a pound every 2 days. That is my body. I won't have huge losses like others on here and I don't think my body would handle that. I got realistic with myself and my thoughts of all this, what I came up with is that: I'm following the guides, getting all protein n water in, my body is different and cuz of that my huge weight loss is only going to b around 15-20 a month. I'm ok w that cuz I am seeing and feeling the results. Every body is different and it is ok to not have huge weight losses. Just get your protein in cuz that is huge w weight loss, get that water in, try working out and you'll continue to get results. You just might have to have a little talk with yourself as I did. Working those muscles helps to burn more, so you'll have more loss providing you're getting the protein in. I get 60+ protein. 72g yesterday. Gen :-) 12/15/12

Mine did for a week. I became mildly dehydrated, stopped losing and actually gained weight (assuming water weight). But it's gone now and losing. 200-300 a day is too little my opinion. Are you getting all your protein in? I eat around 400-500. I am able to get all protein in. Your body probably is in starvation mode. Gen :-) 12/15/12

    not sure anymore...

Hi Wifey. You need to do the surgery for yourself. Your husband has already stated he doesn't see a future for the two of you. It seems to me that you love him more than he may you. I am recently divorced after a 22yr marriage. Husband found someone else. I lived my life for my daughter and husband and always put me on the back burner. You don't want to do that, you lose yourself along the way. So live for yourself and put yourself first. Gen :-) 12/15/12

I just had the Danon lite n fit Greek yogurt (vanilla) lunch. I love the fact it has 12g of protein. I'm in a food rut as well. Glad I pulled out the page. Gen :-) 12/15/12

The albacore tuna puréed w miracle whip and mustard is good. I even was able to purée a hard boiled egg into it and tasted fine. Spread it over whole grain saltines like a patte. Gen :-) 12/15/12

You're welcome. It should go away once there is less stress on your system. Some in December group have already been taken off meds for diabetes. I thought that was great. So yes, always something to look forward too:-) Gen :-) 12/15/12
