No one is saying that we don't believe you that you have had problems but because some people have problems doesn't say we will all have problems. You find me 1 doctor in this practice or any practice that doesn't have at least 1 unhappy patient. I personally think he is a wonderful doctor. He has called me at home since the surgery to make sure everything was going well and to see if there were any questions that needed to be answered. To each his own.

Hello to everyone I am new to this site. I am from Crest Hill. I was banded on 6/25 in Mexico along with my mother. I am looking forward to getting to know other bandsters in the area.

That is very sad to hear that people would do that to other people. We all have the same on going problem with weight and we should be supporting each other no matter what or who we have do our surgeries. Fathead if you have any other questions or concerns please feel free to email me. When is your banding date? They are very nice people this is one thing you shouldn't have to be stressing about. Everything will be great. Good Luck. Let me know how everything goes for you.

Do you know if Dr. Lahmann at Silver Cross (Joliet IL) does fills for people that had it done outside of the states?

I had my banding down 2 weeks on Wednesday by Dr. Corvala. Considering I went to another country to have this done I think everything went very well. I meet with the doctor twice before surgery and he was very helpful in making me relax. I also went with my mother who also had it done by him. The hospital was very very clean and the nurses were very nice. Yes the language thing did get in the way at times but they know the important stuff like PAIN. And actually the hospital just called us yesterday to see how we were doing and if they could help us answer any questions. For us they arranged the time to leave the hotel to get to the airport on time. We had a lot of time to waste at the airport. It only took us a little over an hour to get over the boarder but our driver did say that traffic was good that day. I do not regret going to Dr. Corvala I did have my worries in the beginning but everyone seems to have a different experience. Just follow what they tell you to do before and after surgery and everything should be wonderful. GOOD LUCK!!

Dr. Milton Owens - Anyone used Dr Lopez/Dr Owens team?
Chrissy replied to StacieM's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Well I am finally back. I had my banding by Dr. Corvala in MX. and everything went great. I am back at work today and feeling fine. A little pain in the neck area but I think that was more of how I was sleeping out there. I meet with Dr. Corvala twice and I have to say he was one of the most friendliest people. Everyone out there was. The Belite women came down and saw both me and my mother twice while we were staying in the hospital to just see how things were going and to see if we needed anything. They even called the day we left the hotel to come home to just make sure we were doing good and again if they could get us anything before we left for the airport. The language was a little bit of a problem with the nurses but they figured out the important things like more meds I thought the whole experience was very good from contacting Belite to getting down there and back. All the staff that was in the surgery room could not have been nicer trying to make me feel comfortable. I am glad it is over but very happy the way it went. -
Dr. Milton Owens - Anyone used Dr Lopez/Dr Owens team?

I am being banded on 7/26 by Dr. Lopez Corvala. There are alot of mixed reviews about him and this board which did really start to worry me so I start looking around more about his expertise. I have contacted several people that have had the banding down by him and they all have wonderful things to say about the whole experience. You can call the hospital and as about the doctor do a search on the internet under his name. I did this and I was amazed on how many sites came up with all the expertise that he has. Just do your homework and you should be fine. I do understand that some people may have had a bad experience with the doctor but I think it really depends on your health going into it, how you follow what you are told to do. But honestly if you look around at any doctor anywhere in the world I am sure you will find at least 1 unhappy person with their doctor. Good luck in your search. -
Dr. Corvala vs. Dr. Valencia Please Help! I am scheduled for banding on 7/26 with Dr. Corvala in Mexico. The reason I went with him was because I know 2 people that had it done by him and they thought he was wonderful. The more I read on this board the more I hear bad things about him. His partner is Dr. Valencia and i have heard some good things about him. I am coming down to the last days and I am beginning to think twice about this. How could their "lead doctor" (Dr. Corvala) not be the best one in their practice. I need advice please. What doctor is the best!?

petuniap Dr. Corvala preformed the banded on 2 people that I know and they could not stop saying how wonderful the whole experience was. From the hospital stay to the people that work there. I did look around at other doctors in Mexico but my final decision was really based on the fact that I know 2 people personally that say it was worth it. I did ask about what happens with the fills when I get back to the states the they said that Dr. Corvala is affiliated with several groups in the States. Also if something should happen where I get sick they said that the doctors in the states would have to treat me. The one thing they did say was that if something happens to the band that it needs to be removed or something like that they ask that you go back to them, but I am not sure if that is just because they preformed it and they want to fix it or what. Well I have 1 more week till the big day 7/26. I will post how everything goes. I am sure it will be perfect.

It is easy for me to say you should not have to defend your decision to do what is best for you but I am the same way. Nobody knows but my husband and my mother (only because she is having it also done on the same day). I don't feel like I need to explain to people way I need to have this done. If this is what will make you happy with yourself you go for it. I wish you all the luck in the world on Monday and with your new journey to being thinner and healthier. Please let me know how everything goes for you.

Good luck on Monday. Are you excited yet? Did you do any kind of pre-op diet. The 2 people that referred me to Dr. Corvala did not do anything before hand, but everywhere I read here says you should be on some form of a diet.

If you don't mind can you let me know where you go for your fills. I am being banded on 7/26 and that is one of my worries that the doctors back here will not treat me if I have it done in Mexico. I have not even told my reg. doctor yet that I am having this done.

gutierrezea vbmenu_register("postmenu_497731", true); I am scheduled to be banded by Dr. Corvala in Tijuana, Mex on 7/26. I am a little weird about leaving the states for this. I was referred to them by 2 friends that have had it done and they loved it. How is your recovery doing? Have you faced any problems?
-
I am at a BMI 34.5 also and I have found a wonderful doctor in Mexico Dr Corvala. I was referred to him by 2 friends that had it done earlier this month. I am due to be banded on July 26th. If you would like i can send you their email address. I can say that if you are paying for this on your own Mexico is much cheaper then the states.

Hello, I will be getting banded on July 26th in Tijuana Mexico by Dr Corvala out of the Angeles Hospital. I live in Crest Hill, IL and when I asked them about fills in our state they said that they were affiliated with Loyola Hospital and one in Wheaton that can do the fills.
