My husband is scheduled for surgery on 12/10/11. We are really excited nervous and scared. He was supposed to start his diet yesterday and freaked out when we were driving by KFC. So I let him have one more day. Now he is going on slim fast and salad for two weeks. I am Going to try cooking for our girls while he is outside taking a walk so he doesn't smell the food. Does metemucil really make you feel not hungry? I want to do everything I can to help.

We talked to the hospital. Not sure how he was able to eat all of that food. Obviously he has no restrictions, which is bad because he doesn't know when to stop that has always been a problem for him. They said his sugar is too high and it's a mental hunger not real hunger. They said 1/2 cup per meal so that's what we are going to do. He doesn't like the protien shakes so I'm going to mix protien in with his pudding. He is still having some pains and still tires easily. We still haven't closed on our house because his work is upset he took time off for this surgery. It all rests in their hands to just talk to mortgage company then we can move in. Please keep us in your prayers. Now that we made it through the surgery we are ready to start our new life in a new house. -

My husband is eight days too. We don't have a " planned diet ". We only have guidelines to follow. I would just think after two cups of soup and a cup of skim milk he should be full. You think he should go to soft diet? -

Alright my husband is one week post op! Surgery went great and he is in some pain. He is not feeling full though. He is eating something all day. He is still on full liquids, eating jello, pudding, spaghetti sauce, carnation drinks, and protien shakes. He doesn't feel full or have a belch or anything like that. He was constipated yesterday he finally told me he ate one tootsie roll while I was gone. Do you think that clogged him up? Could y'all tell me what y'all eat in one sitting when you feel full? -

OK! Day 1 post op I can't be with my husband but he finally told me he is ok just eyes are still blurry because he's a diabetic and the clear liquids has his sugar all messed up. I thought he was not going to do this yesterday but he pushed through now we are on the other side! -
We survived!! My husband finally told me he's ok! He has already been walking! He had his surgery last night around 10:00 because both of his flights were delayed. Any diabetics out there? My husband is having blurry vision really bad. It started the second day of liquid diet.
-
Thanks good luck to you too. My husband has to be at the airport at 6am Monday. He will have surgery at noon.

The 10th is almost here. Clear liquids is causing headaches here for the diabetic. Talking about things to be done, hopefully we will be closed on our new house we we get back from surgery. So hopefully my husband can drive while I move everything I can. I am ready for us to have Christmas in a new house and start our healthy new life together.

Well we start on liquids tomorrow. Glad to hear everyone is doing well. I am doing the best I can for my husband. He is sleeping for 12 hours or more at a time. He is stressed and depressed. I woke up this morning to a empty package of fudge mix in the trash. Should I scold him or let it go?

Good luck to everyone this week. We have one week to go. I know being the spouse is not the same as the patient but I really am the only support team my husband has and this is slot of responsibility for one person to have so I will be looking to y'all. I hope you don't get tired of me. We just moved to hot springs, ar and I have no one here to help or even to talk to.

Dec 10 for my husband. He is on a fine line with this diet. He says he will do it right this week.
-
I can't find the thread you are talking about. I done lots of research on dr Lopez. There was one bad story but the patient went to a Buffett the night before surgery. I know there are bad stories out there. We are going to a fully staffed hospital with all the certificates of places in the states, it's not a strip mall.

He has to do laxatives 3 days before. He is going to Mexico to have this done we tried jumping through all the hoops for insurance and just got tired of finally getting close to it just for the company to drop the coverage for it. They just want him to have 2 shakes and 1 small protien with 1 small salad. He slept most of the day yesterday and had a headache all day too.
-
Sorry I am new to forums also. After looking at slim fast I see it is short some protien. The surgeon says at least 15 g, slim fast is 10. So I could fix him an egg or something to go with it. This is 2 weeks pre- op, his bmi is 37.2 so he doesn't need to loose weight really. We are just trying to follow directions. We want to do this right, he has waited at least 8 years to get this done.

They just said 3 proien drinks then salad with protien
-
Ok thanks! He is going to get chicken or fish with the salad ,sorry I wasn't specific. We have the slim fast and eas. Can I put fruit in with the eas?
