In the beginning while everyone was struggling, I could eat anything and was hungry without any full triggers. Had to measure so as not to overheat. In the past week, I have slowly developed sensations for fullness and I don't want much of anything and most things make me nauseated. Having to push to get in 40g-50g of protein. The nausea isn't severe but just enough to make me feel bad and not want to eat or drink. I sure hope this passes soon. Anyone with tips to ease nausea?
  5. I am a slow loser and would never lose 5 lbs in a week. Hang on. As long as you are following the plan, it will happen. Your body will plateau and one of the times it happens is when you have hit a weight you have been at before. Those seem to be the hardest to get past for me. All my life I was either dieting or gaining. I try to tell myself to celebrate that I'm not gaining when I hit those plateaus. I hope this surgery will help me change that to losing and being on a plateau. I can handle that.

    Reversal

There are people who have had it reversed due to rare complications. I believe some of those cases were due to poor surgical techniques. Drs can be good surgeons for some things and not others and will do surgeries after minimal training in that surgery.
  7. I had surgery dec 17 and had no full signals until this week and it is finally beginning to happen. I agree about watching what you eat and making sure your entire meal is no more than 1/2 cup. No liquids 30 min before and after eating. I would certainly be careful you don't stretch your pouch/stoma. Talk to your dr too.

Hi ladies, Have been reading posts and thought I would share my progress and hope it will help some of you. I started my pre op on Dec 3 and surgery on Dec 17. On Jan 4, I finally reached the 20 lb loss mark. I have had several plateaus and just kept on with what I was doing. I am typically a slow loser and would be thrilled to have lost what some of you lost just in the preop stage. We are required to have a class with psych after surgery and one of her main topics was about plateaus and spending too much mental effort on not losing instead of celebrating what you have done so far. She said patients who get too fixated on the numbers Instead of focusing on good eating and celebrating their success are much more likely to gain it back for a variety of reasons. She said we need to work on focusing on other things besides weight numbers. She said plateaus will occur because your body has to adjust and just to expect it. If it lasts longer than 3 weeks then call the nut who will look at what we are eating and make suggestions. Hope this helps and gives some of you some peace of mind about your progress.

I had my first post op apt and nut class today. I was released to move to puréed food ! I was so excited. I puréed some baked chicken, about 1/8 of a cup and figured I wouldn't be able to eat it all Oh. It was so good to have something with flavor!! Ate it all and still hungry! So I fixed 1/8 c beans puréed. That too was wonderful but still no sense of fullness. I decided not to eat any more at that point. I though maybe I would have those same sensations others are having that won't let them get in all their liquids and protein but still no "stop" signals. I have noticed I am not hungry as much so that is helping. Dr was pleased with my progress so far and said to go slow. When I was reading the previous posts, I was surprised at how many were cold because, I'm having these hot flushing spells and wondered if anyone else was.... Guess not!!!

Tomorrow I go for my first post-surgery check-up and food class since I am suppose to be able to move to puréed foods. So excited as I am so tired of this liquid phase. I have been on it since Dec 3. I had surgery on the 17th. I lost 10 lbs since starting the liquids before surgery and I've lost 6 since the 17th. I know that isn't huge but it's 16 less than I had and I have always lost slowly. I can't wait to get to add new foods to my diet. I never thought puréed chicken would sound so good!!!!!

I can eat or drink anything and have not felt any restriction. No problem getting anything in and hungry enough to eat a sirloin. Isn't it interesting we all had the same surgery and it has effected each of us so differently??
