Let's celebrate!! God heard my desperation as the scale was down 1.2 lbs this morning. It's a small loss but at this point it is a major step for me. So glad I didn't deviate from the plan. It is certainly a bit of motivation and I'll take it wherever I can. Gen, thank you so much for your support. I talked to the surgeon and he sent me to the nut. He didn't seem too concerned. The nut is the one who changed the way I took my synthroid so maybe it took time for that to kick in. After all you have been through I shouldn't be complaining.

Ok. I have been on the diet the nut suggested on Fri. Reduced calories to around 600 and I am fluctuating at the same points- up and down the same pound and a half. I was hoping to see at least a bit of movement downward if even a tenth of a pound. I am going on 6 weeks on this stall and have not seem a change in clothes except a bit looser. This diet was suppose to also help regulate bowel but that hasn't happened either. I soooo need something positive to keep me going. With no weight loss, the medical issues aren't improving and I can eat anything. I rarely get a full signal until I have eaten way too much. So I'm basically dieting and am beginning to wonder how long I can keep this up. Any stall breaking suggestions???

I take the Celebrate Bariatric multi with iron. Said not to take it with synthroid but she didn't say which element in it was contradictory.

I'm with you Nicole. There are very few things I can't eat and a lot of it so I keep wondering when the "tool" part will kick in. No weight loss hasn't helped either. I keep telling myself it will get better but eating things that look like bird seeds don't seem real appealing or sustainable. Chili will sound like heaven in a couple of weeks!

Just got out of hour meeting with nut over my failure to lose the last 5 weeks except for a one pound loss last week. Discovered I am taking vitamins with synthroid which interferes with thyroid meds. So possible problem there. I was told 800 cal to much. Need to be under 600. No more powered or liquid protein or protein in any form but natural. Meal plan is primarily fresh fruit and veggies with beans and fiber-quinoa and flax seed. I can have one plain Greek yogurt and that is it. She did say that eating a cup or more of lettuce/salad greens was ok. I was concerned it was too much but was hungry. So, we shall see how this goes. I told her how skeptical I was but she assured me if I stuck to the meal plan the scale would start moving. I can only hope!!!
  7. Way to go!! You are certainly an inspiration!!!

Gen, so glad the new hospital has been able to identify the problem and has a plan to correct things. Hope the cure is the least invasive and you are back home soon. I know you miss your daughter and you will be home soon! I am praying for a speedy recovery. Hugs. Debbie

Gen, so sorrrrry for the trouble but hopefully they are on the way to fixing it. Prayers for you, sweet friend. Keep us posted.
  10. There are also people that the surgery does very little to help them lose weight. It is no guarantee of weight loss. To have permanent changes in your body done and to deal with recovery and then lose very little is not easy to deal with. Especially if you had to fight to get the surgery with the hope it would help. Research shows most people will lose all their going to lose in the first 6 months and if you are losing very little then then doing this for 18-20 or 30 lbs is not a choice some people would have made but it does happen to some people.

Just a note of good news. My scale has FINALLY started moving. I'm down 2 lbs after more than a month of nothing. I'm now down 28 since pre surgery and 18 since Dec 17-day of surgery. It is certainly going slow but at least it's going again.

Thanks Nicole. Doc said to keep protein between 40-60 because I am so short and don't have so much to lose as others. I'm doing that and fluids are good too. I don't do startches very often and then mashed potatoes to help chicken go down. He said to move away from protein drinks and yogurt and more to solid protein like chicken, egg, etc. I question getting all protein if i do but we'll see. Haven't been watching sodium. I have eaten salad and veggies with no issues and am hungry a lot so not losing and fighting hunger aren't helping. I asked the dr if he was sure he did bypass!

Gen, you are such a beautiful girl. You need someone who is much better than that clod of an ex. You will find them! It is time for you! Hippie Gal, sorry about that ice cream! Oops. Nicole K. Congrats on doing so good! Keep up the good work. I have been reading all the posts and your progress gives me hope. I haven't lost anything going on 4 weeks. Saw dr Thursday and he keeps saying just wait. I see nut in 2 weeks but have pretty much gone through the gamut of emotions and have accepted I won't reach my goal. I eat 6-800 cal. I have eaten more, less, more protein powder, less and still the same. If we lose most of our weight in 6 months, I am almost 1/3 of the way through with only 12lbs lost since surgery-24 since liquid diet. I have dropped one size so not much motivation there. At least I'm not gaining so that is a plus. Keep posting your successes, it helps to feel like I at least made the decision based on real successes even if it isn't happening for me.

Prayers, Gen. We will be eager to hear from you and know all is welll.
  17. Oh, I am at the same point. I have more to lose than you but I am not losing and I have been stuck for 3 weeks. So discouraging. I have to fight not eating because I am hungry and not sure how much i can eat but there seems to be no restriction. It is Ustinov like I'm dieting without the benefits of the surgery.
  18. I am frustrated too. Started liquids on Dec 3 and surgery the 17. I lost the first couple of weeks after surgery and have fluctuated 2 lbs up and down since. Going on week 3. So irritating. I am on reg foods now but stick with foods I was eating before during soft stage so I can add in protein powder. About 600 cal. So discouraging. If I'm going to lose most of my weight in the first 6 months as they say, this isn't looking too good. Thanks for letting me vent.
