OH NO> I am getting a cold. I could cry. Got up this morning with my throat on fire. My surgery is Wednesday. I am so afraid I am going to be sick and they won't do the surgery. Hubby was sick with a cold last week and I did everything in my power to stay away from him and not get it. Help What can I do to ward off this cold. I am on a liquid diet so I can drink orange juice or anything to help me. What should I take. Any suggestions??? Help!!

I researched both and found that there is a greater weight loss and higher success rate with RNY. That is why I chose RNY over the sleeve. But I am sure you will do fine in whatever you chose. Good Luck.

WheatThin I am with you. I have had diarrhea for 5 days. I am day 6 of the liquid diet. I am not exactly loving this but I am ok. I can hardly wait for next wednesday when I get my surgery. I am so excited to be able to do the things I did when I was thinner. I miss my life. I wish all of you the best of luck and love . We got this.

I have not had my surgery yet but I was told to bring non slip slippers, chapstick, phone, phone charger, clean panties. It was suggested that I was just wear home from the hospital what I wear to the hospital. So that is my plan. I am going to dress in sweats and a t-shirt for comfort. Good luck. I was told I have to do 14 days of lovenox in the belly when I get home. Yaayy me. I will do it to keep from getting blood clots. but I am don't have to be happy about it. LOL. anyway. I am so looking forward to so many things when I lose weight that these are just small hurdles.

Has anyone had to have the Lovanox shot? and does it hurt? UGH> I am told it hurts like heck to to get that shot in your belly. Anybody have experience with it?

Actually that makes me feel a little better . I was worried that I was the only one. I have an extremely hard time losing weight. My body holds on to everything. I just thought I would lose a little more quickly on liquid diet. I am prepared that after my RNY that I will lose weight slow. But as long as I lose. But this liquid diet is rough. Thanks for the response. It helped me a lot.

I wish that were true. I have been on this liquid diet for 4 days and have only lost 2lbs. WTF? I am starving. I have been super extra careful to only eat what they gave me and drink 64 oz of fluid like I was instructed to do... UGH. I am soo frustrated and I am really worried. Has anyone ever done the optifast liquid diet and not lost a lot of weight?

I am on day 3 of this liquid diet. I am ok but but I am hungry and OMG have you ever seen so many dang food commercials? Now my husband is over here behind my coughing is lungs up . I am just praying that I do not catch this cold because they will postpone my surgery. Good luck with the liquid diet feel free to message me . Maybe we can help each other.

I am so happy!!! I finally got my approval through anthem and my surgery is scheduled for Jan 30th!! Wooohoooooo!!! I am finally looking at good health. I start my liquid diet on Jan 16th. 2013 is going to be the best year yet. Yaaayyyyy!!!!

Yes sorry I was on my phone last night. But yes I found after i had submitted to Empire that our insurance was changing within BC/BS . So my plan is still through blue cross blue shield but instead of being empire blue it is changing to Anthem. I was approved through empire which is what I have now and they even said that they would cover my surgery in January. However when I called I found out that what would actually happen is when i submit for my surgery they would not pay for it because I would then be under Anthem. It is sooo confusing. I have to wait until January 1st and submit through to anthem for approval. for the surgery. Hopefully my surgeon won't be full and I can't get my surgery sometime in January.

I was approved by my insurance but because my husbands insurance changeson Jan 1st I have to get the approval rhrough Anthem which is what it changes tik.

Hi all, I am not sure if my surgery is going to be in January now. My insurance sat on my approval and by the time they finally approved me it was too late for me to get my surgery on the Dec date . So they said the would hold the approval hold the way through January 30th, then I found out my insurance will change from Empire Blue BC/BS to Anthem BC/BS as of January 1st . So I have to get an approval from them because empire will not cover my surgery. I will not be able to submit it for approval until after January 1st. FML.. I am not sure now when things are going to happen. I am still hoping for a January date. Everyone cross your fingers for me.

Well I found out yesterday that Anthem is absorbing Empire so starting January 1st I will have Anthem instead of Empire. Due to this empire is sitting on my approval and saying it is being evaluated by the nurse . I was told by the coordinator they are usually very quick and she is surprised that they have not given an answer by now. They have had my information since November 30th. The coordinator and I believe they are sitting on it because Anthem is taking them over on Jan 1st. I am so upset. I need to start my liquid diet tomorrow Dec 12th in order to get my surgery on Dec. 26th which is the only date my doctor has left available for me for this calender year. I am so frustrated. I am so upset with them. Did anyone else have this kind of hang up with them?

I just got my approval today! I will be getting my surgery sometime in January. I will know the date in a couple of weeks hopefully. I will update when I have the date . I am so ready to get on with it. I started the journey in October and was orginally aiming to get my surgery Dec. 26th but insurance sat on my approval so I couldn't start my liquid diet yesterday. Then my WLS sugeon said he needed the results of my biopsy of a spot he found in my throat. He said that would not have anything to do with my surgery but he has now postponed to doing anything more until he gets the results from another doctor who did the biopsy. The doctor who did the biopsy said it was nothing and that he did not expect them to find anything in the biopsy. but I still have to wait until after he sends the results. My insurance approval has been extended through January 31,2013 . So I will be getting my surgery prior to that date.

I so understand. Hang in there. Keep your eye on the prize.

My insurance finally approved me too late to get my surgery on Dec.26th as we had hoped. They did extend my approval through the end of January so I guess it will be sometime in January that I will get my surgery provided I can save up the extra needed funds in time for my surgery date. I was still not given a date. It depends on when my WLS surgeon gets the biopsy results of a spot in my throat from a different doctor. It was nothing . The doctor who did the procedure yesterday said so but my surgeon has decided he needs this. ( he had told me prior that this had no effect on my surgery what so ever then yesterday decided he needed to see the report when it comes back. before he can even schedule my surgery) I really just want to get this over with. I feel like nothing ever comes easy for me. Everything I set out to do is a major struggle. Does anyone else feel this way? Do you ever feel like you have to fight for every little thing for your self?

I just got off the phone with my Surgeons office. So now even if I am approved by my insurance for the surgery date of Dec 26 it is a no go. I now have to wait until next year and redo everything because my insurance changes to anthem on Jan1st. FML . I will also have alot more out of pocket expense. I may not be able to finacially do this now. Our insurance has went up so much and the out of pocket is almost ridiculous. I have the worst luck of any person I know.

Mine was submitted on 12/30 and I am still waiting. I could cry. They have made it so I won't get surgery this calender year. All they will tell me is that it is pending. What a big joke this has turned into for me. I am so upset with them. I needed to start my 2 week liquid diet today for me to get my surgery on the 26th. Which is the only available day the doctor has left this year. As you can imagine. I am so upset that I can hardly focus . I meet all of the criteria and I have completed all of the stuff they wanted. They are just sitting on it. OH and I was told last night that instead of 15 days waiting as I was orginally told it has now jumped to 30 days. What a crock of %^$#.
