I have 2 questions for anyone out there. #1 can we drink the Cherry Berry Chiller from Mc Donalds? its suppose to b all natural juices with 0 calories and less than 20 grams of sugar. I use to drink them before my surgery, However I am affraid to drink them now unless they are ok to drink. I am 6 months post op. #2. I have a friend who is going to get the Gastric Sleeve. She was approved by her insurance, she completed her stress test, blood test, Psych test and her class. Her surgery date was scheduled for May. Her doctor refused to do the surgery because she did not lose the 10 lbs. Has anyone encountered this problem? my doctor didn't even mention the 10lbs. I thought we were having weight loss surgery because we tried everything else HELLO....... WTH I don't understand this, my doctor was very thorough with everything , but this was not an issue.Wouldn't this cause a problem with her insurance co. the second go around? because now she has to wait until she can lose the 10lbs. and she will more than likley have to do all of her test again, blood test, psych. test stress test etc. which will cost her insurance and they may deny her the 2nd time around. This has made her very very sad and her doctor knows she has problems with her legs and knees which makes it very difficult for her to exercise. I just think her doctor is being rediculous. What do you all think? very interested in hearing your thoughts. Thanks

Thanks everyone, I will let my friend know. However, she has given up because she didn't lose the 10lbs she did lose 7lbs and now her doctor cancelled her surgery. She will probably have to start over, but she says her insurance probably wont pay for all the test again. I really think she should try another doctor. -

I recently watched an episode of Wendy Williams, she had Al Rocker on who had Gastric Bypass. he said he has to take over 17 vitamins for the rest of his life. I honestly dont understand where he came from with that number I take 3 caltrates a day 1 prenatal daily, 1 biotin daily 1 B12 weekly and 1 iorn pill nightly . Does anyone know where he got that number from? 17 vitamin pills a day I'm confused??????

Oh I thought we had to continue to crush our meds forever. I am 3 months post op so does that mean I can just take my pills without crushing them now? and do we still have to drink those horrible protein shakes?
-
Yes, applesauce works great to eliminate the taste I have a pill grinder/cutter and I put my pills in applesauce after I smash them it works great try that. I am post op 2 months now and I still have to take my cholestorol meds and my high blood pressure meds and I also have degentertive disc disease and arthritist so I take ant-flam and pain meds for my back also.

@ Lovealways, yes as a matter of fact, vicodine does come in liquid form. They gave it to me when I came home from the hospital after my surgery.

Anyone have any good drink sugestions? because I really hate Powerade and all those drinks that were suggested, I am also tired of Crystal Light I really don't care for that either. So far the only thing I like besides water is the decaf ice tea. Help need more drink variety. -
What were the other 7 foods your doctor told you, that you could never eat again?

I had my surgery on October 18th 2012. Before my surgery I had lapband, It did not work I actually gained weight so I had it removed in August. When my Doctor performed my surgery he started out doing it Laproscopic, However he couldn't see so he had to go in zipper style, so they said it was as though I had 2 surgerys in one. After my surgery I stayed in ICU for 3 days, when I was moved to a room I was doing pretty well untill my white blood count was low, and they fixed that, gave me incilin every day although i'm not diabetic, (that was torture) next someone on my floor had the infection C-Diff, and then I got it. I was in isolation for 2 weeks in the hospital it was horrible, I then had to get 2 blood transfusions, and I finally began feeling better, the infection subsided and I went home. After a few days of being home the infection started back up the diahhrea was unbearable, I got dehydrated, and had to return to the hospital where they gave me horrible antibiotics in liquid form, which was hard to tolerate, and they gave me an IV to rehydrate me. After being back in the hospital for 1 day I took the antibiotics for 10 days and began to feel better. Since then I have had a very hard time eating just too weak to do anything, but now I've got my energy back and I am doing so much better. I had a horrible experience, long hospital stay 2 1/2 weeks, but hopefully the outcome will make up for it. Its been a long painful journey but i'm getting there! Now I am on the restricted solid diet and I still only eat applesauce, and pudding, I hate it!!! I tried to eat a little chili my husband brought home because he thought I was starving BIG MISTAKE!!! I now know It gave me what is called the "dumping syndrome", now i'm afraid to try any solid foods or anything else for that matter......
