Dorian... Krystal read my mind! I was wondering go you are feeling. I'm glad your feeling a little better! Hopefully your on the upside -
I forgot to include... I took my phone and charger but nothing else electronic. If I used the tv there I was usually asleep within 15 minutes of turning it on and my phone I hardly touched. For me I didn't like the bright light and stuff. I thought if be posting updates on here like so many people, but I just didn't feel up to it. As far as food for when you get home. I bought a lot of stuff and most of it is still sitting in my cupboard. I ended sending my husband out for the stuff I found I could tolerate, which for me wasn't much (it still isn't). I'd just get a few of the things you know you like now and hope you'll still like them post op. I lived off SF Popsicles and jello and the only protein I could stomach was Unjury chicken soup.

Hi. So I'm slowly starting to conquer my nausea but I'm really struggling with breakfast. It seems no matter what I eat I either A) throw it up or it makes me nauseated for hours. I can't stomach protein powder at all. I'm just trying to figure out some ideas for breakfast. Anyone have suggestions? What do you eat?

The best thing I ever took to the hospital with me is my back scratcher! for the hospital I also took my own pillow, toiletries, slippers (for walking the halls), and bath robe. I wore yoga pants, a tshirt and flip flops to the hospital so I could wear them home.

Awesome!! -
It's strange how different drs are! I had to crush my meds for the first month (I'm only on week 5). He gave me liquid pain meds though. At a month we could swallow meds, as long as they weren't huge. However our vitamins, calcium, b12 etc all have to be chewable for at least the first 8 weeks.

I can't do this anymore. I barely kept last nights dinner down. I didn't keep this mornings breakfast down. I am trying so hard but there is no way I am keeping all the protein in I need. Fluids?? Well I'm trying. The only suggestion I get it to drink my fluids and get my protein.... HOW?!? I think I'm going to ask for a reversal next week at my dr appointment. I did the surgery so I could enjoy my life with my kids and now I'm so sick I can't even sit and watch. -

I liked raspberry too. The carmel and lemon were just my favs. I didn't care for the chocolate. -

I order Bariatric Advantage calcium citrate chewy bites from www.bariatricadvantage.com they have Carmel, lemon, raspberry and chocolate. They are so so good! My fav is Carmel and lemon and it's like having a piece of candy three to four times a day. I even shared them with the girls in my office who are not bypass patients and they all ordered some with me. Their price is really reasonable too! -

Surgery may 20 need help
kellbell5 replied to Meganrvan89's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am so so sorry. Gas pain is the absolute worst. Pain medication doesn't even help. I tried every thing I could think of. My mom rubbed my chest and back, I laid on the bed with my butt up in the air (gravity, right!?). Gas-x strips don't help the gas pain from the gas they use during the surgery. None of this is helping I'm sure... They absolutely only thing that can and will help.... Is walking. I hated hearing that but it ended up being true. I am so sorry, I wish I had a suggestion better than that. I know when I finally did pass gas I know I have never been so happy to fart in my entire life! -
I don't know if I can do this anymore.... Seriously considering having this thing reversed. I am 4 weeks post op, however, had to have a second surgery for bowel obstruction a week ago. I am so sick all the time that I'm barely able to eat anything. It's a chore to even get enough fluid in. My weight is still higher than it was before the second surgery. I am at my wits end... I ask myself every 15 minutes what I did to myself and why!?! I'm literally starving my body and I am still not losing weight. Help please?

Constipation and taking miralax with no movement
kellbell5 replied to Jenny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I actually had the same issue, while taking mirilax once a day. I talked to my surgeons office and they told me you can't really overdose on miralax. They had me drink it every 8 hours until I had a movement. It actually worked pretty quick, within 36 hours, and it was really gentle. I would say try that. -

Mine either! My situation sounds so similar... Sick, pain, another surgery for bowel obstruction and my husband saw me about 30 min total in 4 days. Wasn't even there when I went in or came out of surgery. -

Hi. So I've been MIA for a while but I really need some advice/support. I am 4 weeks post op today but had complications and had surgery for a bowel obstruction last week. I needed up staying in the hospital for four days. I ate almost nothing, I still am eating almost nothing and my weight is still higher than it was after the second surgery. I have absolutely no energy, I never want to eat anything, go anywhere, do anything. And without the "huge" weight loss that is expected with the surgery, I regret my decision almost daily. I don't know about anyone else but I feel pretty alone right now.... -
For me telling people was extremely difficult and I never expected the responses I would get from some. It's amazing to me how many people have a "story" about someone they know, who knows someone, who's family member had they surgery and they.... You fill in the blank... Because just about anything that could happen has happened. And instead of saying things like "wow that must be a tough decision" or "that must be scary for you" they have to say insensitive and rude things that do not ease our minds. Because I had this very same issue come up I spoke with my therapist about it. She suggested the best way for me to handle it might be to come up with a "script" I had prepared for when someone said something like that. For me, mine sounded like this (post-op): I appreciate your concerns but I've weighed the options and for me this was the right choice. What I could really use now that I've had the surgery is support from... (You, my friends an family, etc. depending on the person) It has actually really helped. For the people who find it difficult to support me, it was clear my choice was not up for discussion. And for the people who wanted to support me but didn't know how, it helped them to see what they were saying was not supportive. Just my two cents. If you use my script or come up with your own I'd love to hear how it worked for you

I had my surgery April 22nd (I am 3 weeks post of today) and I am feeling very discouraged. I am only down 11 pounds and I feel like I should be doing better than this. I am terrified that I'm going to be one of those people that this surgery doesn't work for... Any thoughts, suggestions?
-
Just an update.... Not sure how anyone posted stuff the same day as surgery! I was so out of it I could barely keep my eyes open all day. Otherwise I'm doing ok. Had a tiny bit of jello and quite a bit of water. I'm falling asleep Again so I guess ills write more later

Sitting here on the bed just waiting for the ic and to be wheeled away to lala land. Nervous as all get out. Lets get this party started! good luck everyone else having surgery today.
-
Thank you so much everyone for the well wishes! I'll give an update as soon as I'm feeling up to it. My nerves are starting to get the best of me. I spent the whole day prepping all five of my kids to go stay with friends an family, doing their laundry and precooking meals. Now their all gone and I'm trying to relax. Should be a long night. Good luck to all you other 22'ers out there!

Hey surgery buddy!! Mine is the 22nd too, which I think you know I am so nervous too. I think about how my life is going to change in so so many ways and I start too feel very anxious. I don't feel at all ready like you are. I found myself moving last Saturday and I am scrambling to get my house ready and plan my shopping trip for tomorrow... Any suggestions?? You'll do great I am sure! We both will! What time is your surgery? Mine is at 7am, I have to be there at 5:30. We should exchange email or number so we can text and keep in touch if you want to anyway! Either way, good luck!! See you on the losers bench in 3 days!
