Welcome, my surgery was on the 4th of December. How has your recovery been? It's nice to meet you and hope you enjoy our loser's bench. Hope to hear from you again!

Not that I am aware of but she has been on mind, too! Wish we could get an update!

Just hope that taking the steroids and insulin won't impair the weight loss, may have to give up my place on the loser's bench for a while...LOL! Will be interesting to see if it is impacted at all.

Oh and good news, weighed in at doctor's office and lost another 6 lbs. I will try and post pictures soon, just haven't felt well enough lately to mess with it all. Feeling somewhat energetic today so once I catch up around the house I'll give it a try. I have a school photo, from the beginning of the school year I want to recreate exactly with same clothing although hair is currently being grown out. Think it will be pretty neat to see the difference. Either way, I will get some posted later! Time to know what I really look like!

I always used a product called Cystex because it was OTC and contained an antibiotic which worked for me and avoided constant Dr. visits for UTI's (I've had a lot due to the diabetes). Was going to purchase it again for this recent UTI but after checking the box label, I realized I could no longer take it because it had a NSAID for pain relief. So I just assumed the AZO did too! I know there are more than a few different AZO types to choose from because I saw at least two in my drug store. Advising caution before you choose by reading labels and checking. I guess they aren't all necessarily alike. Good to know !

Great idea, adding the cranberry to your tea  ! I've had UTI problems, it seems, since surgery. When my fluid consumption was good I had few symptoms. Other days, I would feel the pain, pressure, experienced some blood, and just took it as a sign to get more fluids in. I'm able to drink so much more now with warmer liquids, so I think my UTI really flared when I came down with this recent illness. Fluid consumption was really low for days. Feeling better now with medical treatment (if only the coughing would stop and my voice would come back) . Got a steroid injection, another antibiotic, taking two now, and a Medrol pack (add'l steroids) so I should be feeling up to par really soon. Had to go back on Lantus (long acting insulin), though because the steroid injection made my blood glucose soar . Was told to montior and continue while taking the Medrol pack, too! I love the information you all have to share. Thanks !

I had two children (daughter 32 & son 21) they were (not by choice) spaced 11 1/2 yrs. apart. I felt like I raised two "only" children. I always wished for the "houseful," but it was never meant to be. I've worked in education for the past 24 years. Children are my passion!

    Doesn't AZO use a NSAID?

Sounds like cystitis (sp) to me. Unfortunately, you need a lot of fluids (which is hard for us to take in quickly) The pain is intense, and not easy to get rid of. Will pain medication help at all if you have any? I never tried but might take the edge off?

I was totally amazed today, Went back to the doctors because this bronchitis has just been a booger (no pun intended) to get over. Gave me another antiobiotic (Clarithromycin) to take in addition to the Ciprofloxacin because Cipro needs to be taken for the UTI which is still present but better..... I was also given a steroid injection and a prescription for a Medrol pack (which I thought we couldn't take in an oral form). So I called the surgeon's office when I got home and was given permission to take them. Nice to know that if needed oral steroids can be taken. For all those out there and suffering, I hope it doesn't take long for you to feel better!

Was gonna start a new thread for UTI sufferers, but just realized it would be a lot of the same people in this group. (Just kidding--can't believe how many of us have one. Think I will start on the cranberry capsules.)

Sorry to hear you aren't doing so well either but glad to hear the news was good following your hysterectomy! I am taking Biotin but only 5000 mg. so I'll increase it and see what happens.

I have bronchitis, strep, UTI, and fever. Nebulizer treatments, broad-spectrum antibiotic. So hard to stay hydrated. Chewing on ice for throat, warm tea and the ice water that melts. Unfortunately, protein burns my throat so haven't gotten the required amount since Monday. Notice my hair is thinning and many strands on the brush and bath towels starting over last weekend. Since I was coming down sick I didn't even feel well enough to care, it is what it is.

Okay I know we are not suppose to take steriods or certain antibiotics orally, but what about injections? I have been really ill these last few days and planning on seeing the doctor today. Anyone know any guidelines for injections? Seems like it would be so much easier on pouch and system.

I have had pressure, urgency and pain on and off since surgery. For me, I don't get enough fluids in each day but if I drink more the symptoms subside. So when I get those sensations I pay more attention to my fluid intake. Definitely a miserable feeling..... hope you feel better soon.
  18. I take those too, Nicole! My doctor was even amazed at the price and amount of Vitamins per tablet it offers. So cheap I order six months at a time to save shipping. Very small but powerful.

Yesterday laryngitis and severe sore throat, awoke this morning not feeling any better so stayed home. Good thing because I got hit with a severe case of dumping that lasted for a couple hours. Over with now, but boy I was miserable. Now if only the sore throat and laryngitis would go away..... Not sure what to take so sticking with warm teas (would love to add honey) and alternate with cold items to help the fire in my throat.

Don't forget those vitamins, too! So many things could be contributing, but I was really exhausted for about two weeks after returning to work. If it doesn't get better check with your doctor.....could be low iron?

So sorry for your loss, Gen. That is just awful and my heart goes out to you. Please stay strong! You're right you have had more than your fair share and have been tested much more than many. God must have really big plans for you!

Warrant for pouch abuse has been issued..... Punishment----pain! Lesson learned? I got really sick from cottage cheese which I use to love....now just thinking about it makes me ill. Hope it didn't last too long! Glad you are doing well otherwise!
