4 weeks post op, surgery weight 334 lbs. Today 299.2 for the first time in 2 years. AND I sat with my legs crossed all day for the first time in years and years. Makes putting up with my freaking in-laws almost worth it lol -
Sharp burning pain
Lisa Collom replied to Lisa Collom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No, it's warm to the touch but just bruised badly from the lidocaine shots. The neurotonin needs to kick in soon. This burning nerve pain is nauseating. -
Over the last couple days I've developed a very sharp burning pain in the center on my abdomen towards the right side. I can't bend over, sit up straight, stand up quickly...it hurts really bad. Leaning back and laying down doesn't hurt. Anyone else familiar with this?

Emotional eater
Lisa Collom replied to RhondaWilliams's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lost my grandmother last week. I'm so sorry for your loss. Every time you think food is the answer to your grief, get up and take a lap around your house, take a sip of Water and think of a happy memory of your grandmother. I stopped eating when mine died so I did the lap every 15 minutes and took a bite of something. Eating does not soothe your grief. You know that sweetie. -
Struggling with soft foods diet ?
Lisa Collom replied to TeamMom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm finding I can't stomach anything puréed. I gag as I try to eat it and everything comes up. So I am eating very soft foods and chewing them incredibly well. It's the best I can do. -

Sharp burning pain
Lisa Collom replied to Lisa Collom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon thinks its either an over active nerve cluster where the port for an instrument was or an undissolved suture (which I have a history of). He shot the area with lidocaine (which hurt and didn't work) and prescribed a pain med called Neurotonin that calms nerve endings. I'm doing this til my 2 month appointment, and if there's still pain I will go anesthesiology for more precise injections. If all else fails, more surgery. -
Sharp burning pain

I don't see my surgeon until 2. I'm seriously regretting not heading to the ER last night. And on a lighter note, wondering if I can count those 12 oz of barium as fluid lol. -

Any news? This pain is godawful. It's like a burning hot poker is stuck in that spot. -

Sharp burning pain
Lisa Collom replied to Lisa Collom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have to go in for a CT scan tomorrow, plus bloodworm and seeing my surgeon. He thinks hernia or abscess since its right under an incision. I'm in so much pain I can barely move. -
Sharp burning pain

It's not gas. Possibly a hernia given its location. Just waiting for the nurse to talk to my surgeon and call me back. -

3 weeks post op. I've had no gas pains, and I had my gallbladder removed in 2001. -

I need ideas. I'm on the puréed food, but I tolerate soft foods fine if I chew well. However, I'm starving. Literally. I am 3 weeks 5 days post op. I've lost 40 pounds. My grandmother, to whom I was incredibly close, died on Tuesday. I haven't been able to tolerate anything other than a few sips of water now and then. Everything else comes right back up. I'm taking all my anti-anxiety and antidepressants, vitamins, and anti nausea medication. It stays down less than 5 minutes. I'm on the verge of being admitted to nsg feeding and IV fluids, but I can't stand the thought of being away from my family. I'm so heartbroken. Any ideas for comfort food that my pouch might tolerate? -
My program required patients to be smoke free for at least one year. They urine tested at my preop appointment and the day of surgery. My surgeon cancels if they detect anything related to smoking.

in dire need of a soda!
Lisa Collom replied to thunderchunky's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Carbonation scares me. My brother had an open bypass almost 10 years ago. He followed no recommendations and taught himself to drink soda as the first slide down the hill. He weighs over 700 lbs now. After soda, it was fatty foods, then sugar, then increasing portion sizes. I just think getting into any of the stuff we aren't supposed to have leads us down a slippery slope. -

Under too much stress right now :/. I'm in a lot of pain on my right side, which sucks. As of this morning I'm down 34 lbs from 11/26. -
I can't stress eat, but I need something
Lisa Collom posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My grandma, to whom I owe my life, is dying. She has lung cancer and pneumonia. It's a matter of days. Before I would stress eat or stop eating. I don't know what to do with myself. I cry and cry, it's so hard to eat or drink and I just have all this time to be upset. What substitute can I use for my typical stress response to food? -

I am less than 2 weeks post op, and I've had incisions open and still have a ton of pain. I'm only cleared for easy walking. I've walked around the block so many times lately, it's crazy. -

I'm less than 2 weeks post op so not hard exercise yet. I'm also in my last week of classes and I'm so behind. I just can't focus on anything. -

It will get better, I promise. I am 9 days post op. I had complications following surgery and was in the hospital for three extra days. When I came home I felt horrible, had buyers remorse, and wasn't losing at all. The past couple of days I've felt well enough to walk, get all my protein and all my fluid. I was 334 before surgery, 329 on Monday and am 311.4 today. It will come off. Let your body heal...you've just had major surgery. It will happen when your body decides its time. -

I can't wait for some retried Beans and cottage cheese. I like my refried beans with a little cheese and a spoonful of plain Greek yogurt. Lots of Protein. Until then I actually really like the peach mango Isopure fruit drink. I think it might be my lifesaver. -

2 weeks post op of full liquids. 4 weeks of puréed foods. 2 weeks of soft foods. Then gradually return to a regular diet.
