Had Gastric Bypass 11/29/2012. Waited 2 years for it. I am 36 years old and have been over weight all of my life. My largest was 385lbs. At the time of surgery, I was 341lbs. I'm a Registered Nurse in a North Texas Hospital and I 've been a Nurse for 14 years. Originally from Chicago. I've practiced Nursing in several states, Illinois, North Carolina, South Carolina, Missouri, and now Texas.
Right now is my 3rd day post-op and I feel like a train wreck. It took everything out of me to take my first shower. But, everyday I have felt alittle better, especially after drinking some protein...what a HUGE DIFFERENCE! I only have 2 weeks off of work, with only a week worth of paid time off.
By 2/8/13, I am 50 lbs down and feel awesome! It's hard to work out, thinking I might have lost muscle during this transition, but am working hard to keep up the protein thing. All my MD appts have been positive. Alot of emotional issues, food addiction issues, but I had those before the surgery. Getting alot of positive reinforcement from the people at work, but its hard to deal with at times. Just not used to the attention. Taking one day at a time and walking with God.
