You may have resonded to this but what is PCOS? about a year ago I started getting massive amounts of facial hair and I spend tons on waxing and hair remover. I am contemplating laser but here in NY its quite a bit more...the specialist wanted 750 for my chin and 750 fo rmy cheeks. I think this was a doctor of laser though (not sure if that's totally correct). I have yet to find any place that charges 150/pop and most places out here want you to buy a 'package' for wha basically starts at about 1,000 (from what i've seen).

I hear you on the pigging out...tonight we had a breakfast food meeting. I ordered pancakes and bacon...ate all the bacon and about 7 squares of pancakes...and was STUFFED! I promised myself that while I won't abuse the band I was not going to diet, just rethink how I eat. Now, i'm going to do a pretty vivid walk tonight to walk all that off (not that it was that much food) but I think you are on point about rethinking how you eat. Your band is your new boss as far as your stomach is concerned. As long as you follow it's lead you'll be fine. Besides that, the pancakes were a little doughy (never quite knew what the meant or tasted like until tonight).

OOH...MALE STRIPPERS! I'm partial to chocolate and banana flavors (oops!)...

Tonight while rushing to eat something (at that time I was famished) I ordered some rather dry chicken and broccoli)...trying to swallow was TREMENDOUSLY PAINFUL!!! I coulnd't breathe for a second. I promoptly threw it away and nibbled on a half a strawberry. That'll teach me!

*DOIN THE BAND DANCE*....I'm going to have to get a cute lymerick for these days...welcome to BAND LAND!!! Can't wait to hear about your experiences (btw...hope you didn't feel up the anasthesiologist...I hear they get a bit happy with the happy juice when you do that).

I had surgery on Thursday and was back to work on Tuesday...I gave great thought to Monday but thought it would be wise to give it that additional day.

If I could write a love letter to Dr. Sanchez I would but I don't have the words...St. Eglacias Hospital is FABULOUS, the care I received is better than any care I've received EVER in the US. The hotel we stayed in first night was great and Dr. Sanchez invites you to his guest house for the following night and follow up care...the house is gorgeous and sits in a very affluent neighborhood...My mom (who was very hesitant at first) loved it and told everyone about the wonderful we received in Monterrey. I would wholeheartedly do it again and at the same hospital under the same care with the same people. Heck...my x-rays were $40 for 2 pics...tell me you can get THAT in the US. I will always be a huge advocate of Dr. Sanchez, alma, Judy and the entire Ready4Achange group. They were the best of the best bar none a far as I am concerned. -
My band was at the hotel, I mean hospital at Santa Eglacia...it wasfabulous...private suite, huge bathroom, mountains at every viewing of my very pictresque window, nurses at the ready within seconds of a call, a direct cell phone number TO MY DOC (I'VE NEVER GOTTEN THAT IN THE US). We walked over to Cartier and bought my dad some stuff from the Hugo Boss store...FABULOUS. I am going to try to post pics of the chapel at the hospital...it was MOST impressive!

I too have a bunch of business suits, size 18/20 that I need to send out...I was going to put them on Ebay but this is a lot more fun.

Wow pretty pictures!!! Glad you're okay DBV...I'm just as big a loser as I can be right now!!!...well I could be a bigger loser but i'm mushy and not fully liquid...Dawn is losing TONS of weight from what I can tell...she says you can see it in her face. I'm really rooting for all of us.

I'm not doing the mushy well at all...todays menu: 1 6oz Protein shake for Breakfast lunch 4 oz broth 2 meatballs chopped finely 2 teaspoons mashed potatoes dinner 1 6oz yogurt 2 teaspoons chicken salad blended well (was fabulous) 3 crackers 4 8oz glasses of Water w/lemon Totals cal 607 fat 25 carb 57 protein 38 Neither mushy nor fully liquid but i'm not hungry...I probably won't lose anything at this rate either though. I'm really trying hard to do mushy (just passed total liquid altogether...the antibiotics were makihng me sick w/just mushy)...I know i'm going to have to make major changes - I just don't know where to start.
-
Pats Princess...take heart...you'll lose WAY MORE WEIGHT than I will in the first few weeks...the half mushys mean more calories...more caloris mean less option for weightloss...odd though...my patient coordinator told me she has had patients eat SHRIMP after surgery...I'm thinking...where did they put it...I guess a blender can do wonders on anything!

I'm worried about the post-surgery diet until back to normal

The chicken salad was chicken that I sort micro shredded with a fork...didn't matter I oly at 3 or 4 chunks before getting full...loving the restrictions...tonight I had italian wedding soup without the pasta and 2 tablespoons of corn and a half a cookie...yumeeeee!!! i'm so full I could burst. Breakfast was 1 soft scrambled egg (ate almost half of it) and lunch was a protein shake...gonna have to fit more protein into my day to day diet...don't want to lose the mane. -
Wow I was really glad to see this post...I am a HUGE fan of sushi and was bemoaning the fact that I can't have it...can't wait to get deeper into mushy foods to try it out...I also miss scallops...I really had a taste for them last night.

So basically what I am generally seeing is that not exercising (no intent is only 20% of the activity) does not mean not losing...because most of you are still loosing despite your lack of activity. My concern is next week once i start working out again (only 30 minutes recumbent bike and 30 minutes treadmill) how i'm gonig to deal with the hunger again.
-
Thanks Alexandra...most of the women who got banded when I did are still doing straight chicken broth and jello and gagging on that...I feel like I'm tryign to do too much too soon...thanks for the response.
-
that i'm eating too much of the wrong stuff and maybe that i'm not more liquidy....my stomach feels fine (though my port still hurts) and i'm just trying to take it slow but I don't seem to feel likei'm slow...also I know we can eat potatoes but potatoes and the meatballs....I felt like I should be doing the more righteous thing like others and eating 8 8 oz glasses of protein a day...glad to know it doesn't look so bad...yes the calories are low and I don't reallly feel hunger at all...I know thats going to change when I start working out again though.

You can stick with Meshawn...gypj was just what I came up with to fill out the form and gypsy is my personal nickname. Ahh yes the upside down xray..its probalby the reason i can't get full now...i'm having a HORRIBLE time Vera...i'm mushy sorta right now and eating like ...well like i'm on a diet...can' have more than 2 teaspoons here and there and it fills me for hours but I've given up on liquid...I still do want to start recumbent bike next week...my legs are screaming for a good stretch. I dunno...I thought the hunger would go away...I hear talk of people who don't want to eat for a while...i've been wanting to eat almost since the day I got turned upside down but can't seem to hold more than a teaspoon here or there...*sigh*...I spent too much money to defeat myself but I just can't be at work hungry. Oh...DBV is Veras new name...it stands for Double Banded Vera...and I think the Spring Bandsters are a great name for our group!

Put all that stuff on ebay or craigslist.org and shimmy around in your skivvies until you decide to buy somethign new...if you don't want new go to ebay and find something gently worn...its just one big ole clothing garage sale and I've personally bought some tremendously nice things on ebay. Don't be afraid to ditch the fat clothes...heck I did it before my surgery and refuse to buy another thing until I can get something smaller...jumping the gun I know but I'm the eternal optimist.

hahahaha...no try like 8 pounds to date...I have to make adjustments to my weightloss if it says that. It think the others are goal weights..sorry about that...but I swear if I'd lost thatmuch by now I would just disrobe and do the nekkid happy dance!!!

Is flouroscopy the same as the barium swallow? She asked me to get xrays of the port while I was being banded which I did (only $40 so it was much cheaper than getting them done here). I am afraid of a blind fill because I don't want my port to get stuck or for her to miss and I have to do it again...

Today after leaving the library I will walk from 56th street to 33 street constituting a 20 block walk...that should be about a half and hour good walk. Can't do crunches yet because my tummy is still in newbie mode.
