There is this app called poshmark. You can sell your old clothes or buy used ones. I don't want to have to wear sweat pants for a year or look like everything I own comes from a yard sale. So on this app they have nice stuff that I can afford as I am going down through the sizes AND I can make a few bucks on my old clothes. Just a tip.

Congrats what an accomplishment!!!!

Good luck!!!! Keep your chin up and remember the first two weeks is the worst and it gets better after that.

I heard all those things from my family too!!! Then I had the surgery and thought that they would stop. Nope! Still the endless stories of gastric disasters. So I just shake it off and keep going. I mean we are strong people, instead shaking off overweight comments we shake off gastric comments.

Donating is always a good thing too. I donate my kids clothes because I don't have any nieces or nephews. I just sold 5 items out of my closet so its a slow process, this way I don't get that shocked empty feeling. Haven't we been thru enough?! Lol

If u have an iPhone or any other i product, u can download this app called poshmark and u can sell ur clothing and buy used clothing. Just a suggestion cause I know we ve been going thru the sizes!

Six months seems like a good time to try and I can wait that long. Thanks for sharing guys!

It's been a while since I have posted, my complications have been getting me down, but I am happy to report that my hole from my abscesses is shrinking and although I am still on the wound vacuum it looks like there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I had my surgery October 25th and was wondering about red wine. Now I haven't tried it yet and would be more than happy to wait, but has anyone tried it? Did it agree with u? It was one vice I d really like to indulge in every now and again.

I am 3 months out and I am down 60lbs. I do not have any loose skin as of yet. I was worried about this until I did some reading and no matter if u lose the weight quickly from surgery or slowly from diet and exercise than the amount of loose skin will be the same. I d rather be healthy and thinner and able to enjoy life with loose skin than maybe look a little better naked and be really unhealthy.

Anyone else scared that the weight loss will just stop when they hit a pause? This week I didn't lose any but didn't gain any and it always makes me nervous. I know its completely ridiculous to think it will just quit, but I don't want to have suffered so much for it to stop now. Had the surgery 10-25 and down 59 lbs.
-
Yeah it just makes me nervous. I keep fearing that I m doing all this to fail. But that's y we r on this forum I suppose to be cheerleaders for each other. I did lose two lbs this week so I am going in the right direction.
-
Hey Bo! I am also 5/8 and started at 289lbs. I've had some complications with my surgery but am happy to report I weigh 230lbs and had my surgery the end of October. So good luck and happy losing!

How far along were u after the surgery when u stalled for two months?
-
Surgery was October 25th and I wasn't doing great but I was doing alright until last week when I almost died. I had three abscesses under my one suture that were huge. My surgeon did not notice during my follow up visits! Now I had to endure two emergency surgeries and am hooked up to a wound vac with at home nurse care coming every other day. I am wondering if anyone else has gone thru this complication and can offer some light at the end of the tunnel. Weight loss seems secondary to surviving at this point.

I would get it checked. Mine had a big bump to go with the pain but it can't hurt to get it checked. I waited and nearly had very serious side effects. As it was I spent a week in the hospital. Better safe than sorry. What can it hurt for them to check it?
-
I wasn't healing as fast as I thought and then one day I was just in a ton of pain. So take any pains seriously!!!!
-
Hope bariatrics in sewickley pa. It's a risk we all take for the surgery. During the healing process fatty tissue got caught in the suture on the inside or so I was told and cause an infection.
-
Does anyone get soreness on the right side? I am 5 weeks out and some days it's better than others but today it's really sore. Doc says its still healing but seems like a long time to be sore.
-
Turns out I had three abscesses. Don't take things lightly, call the doc.

Seriously, this whole process is going to have ups and downs. Don't let urself off the hook, but a small chili?! I mean in my old days of eating that was the side not the meal! So I am guessing you are still eating less than the old u! Stay away from the fast food restaurants. I put sugar free applesauce and a plastic spoon in my purse. This way if I am ever out and there are no healthy alternatives for me I won't break down and eat something cause I have my applesauce. U r still in this fight! Good luck!

6 Month Dr. Supervised Diet And Exercise Class
kss31 replied to cathyh's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
The six months isn't impossible, I did it and if I can do it anyone with a tiny bit of motivation can. The nutritionist told me that during the six months make the best choice possible for myself at every meal and since I wasn't doing that before that I would lose or maintain. She was right. Good luck. It'll be here before you know it! -
Welcome! I didn't find this site until after surgery so u r already one step ahead of the game. Waiting for approval is hard, but if u have to end up doing the six months, I did, it's not impossible. I am 5 weeks post op and the first two are the worst and then light appears at the end of the tunnel. Good luck! Keeping my fingers crossed for ur approval!

3Rd Day Post Op Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass
kss31 replied to NickyRenee's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I seemed to get some great nurses and some not so great nurses. But I just don't think nurses or people in general who have not had the surgery realize how bad it is. They see it as elective and therefore not severe. First week is the worst, it gets better. I am a law and order gal myself. I hope u feel better soon. -
Just weighed myself and I am down to 245! Started at 289 and my surgery was October 25. Big milestone! Thought I d never be here.
-
Wow amazing that you lost 100lbs before surgery! Good for you for never giving up! I know how you feel when you say how did I let myself get this big but when you decide to love your overweight body then restricting yourself and dieting seems like the opposite of self loving. Glad you have come so far. Don't worry about turning 30, I am 31. Just watch some sex and the city re runs and see how fabulous their lives are in their 30s and imagine in no time you can wear those clothes as well.
