  1. Makes sense. I was a teacher too...I miss Christmas break...and SUMMER! And weekends, and holidays! But seriously... I wanted Christmas, because I never get the full holiday off, but I will take February. I really am not one to pig out at Christmas. One of the few bad eating habits I had gotten control of, but I knew it was going to be a challenge. How long did your doc estimate you will be off work? My doc said he wanted me off for four weeks, at least.

  2. I wouldnt even share with my own Mother how much I weighed prior to surgery....well' date=' I still havent! But this is the only place where I feel comfortable sharing this kind of information. I guess it's because we are all in the same boat. I havent been able to go to a support group local meeting because they are always when I work, but not sure I'd share anything about my actual weight there anyway....dont mind sharing the pounds lost or nonscale victories...but not how much I actually weigh.

I would die if my husband knew I was up to 370lbs! He knows I am a big woman, but I couldnt bare telling him my actual weight!! Hes about 245lbs...so I wanna get lower than him!![/quote']

I had to go to the ER when I was pregnant and had my husband step out...

  3. My surgery date is January 7th. I'm sooo freaking excited. Been going for it since February

I was shooting for January 7th because it is my birthday and would seem perfect, but oddly enough I got Feb 7th. I don't belong on this board, but congrats and best wishes to those getting surgery this month and next!

  4. For the most part, mine too, but wow, some horror stories I have heard in support groups. I think there was even a post in this thread where the person's surgery was billed after it was over and they were told approval does not guarantee payment! Why on earth then did they even waste the person's time by making them submit if they were not going to pay?!?? Scary!

  5. They did it all for me, but I called to make sure things were submitted on my own. When my surgeon's office was supposed to call the first time, I waited three weeks before I learned they forgot to call, a process that should have only taken a day or less. They were really nice both times I called.

  6. That's too bad. The woman I spoke with was really nice. I wonder if that guy has an issue with people who are overweight. I can't imagine what would take 30 days. Maybe call and talk to someone else.

  7. Congrats on geting approval. I am waitng too. I am hoping for a sooner date though....do you have support at home ? I hope all goes well for you.

I have a great husband, a daughter, lots of family nearby. I was hoping for earlier, but there were some delays, and they were really booked up.

  8. Oh thank you! I wouldn't give up hope though, check with the insurance again after the first of the year. Things might change and they are not about to announce changes like that if they can put you off. There is a woman where I work who has the same insurance as I do. She had a lap band surgery in Jan 2012. They required her to have 6 months then, but when I called this week they said, "We are making it easier for people to get these procedures." No diet at all is required currently. It was weird...my doctor required at least three months. Like I said, when I called 7 years ago, they required 18 months!

Will the surgeon let you pay off the deductible?
