Day 2 on liquid pre-op diet

I'm from Peru, work in Ottawa...I'm nearby too...
  2. Tonight has been a struggle, especially even being near food. I can't eat popsicles and Italian Ice in this cold weather!

    Fabulous February!

Oh that headache can be a nasty one. My surgery is Thursday, and my doc has his patients do 5 days of clear liquids. I'm grateful it's short and he allows protein shakes, but I am really struggling tonight. I had a full blown, kick in the head, vomiting kind of migraine the first night. It cleared, now I am just a little fuzzy brained and really tired. It's easier, but it's hour to hour.
  4. Day 3 Clear liquids. Cravings are gone and had to choke down my breakfast of jello. Not to go too deep into TMI, but the bathroom is my new favorite room.

    Surgery tomorrow!

My doc has me doing clear liquids for 5 days, but they said it was to reduce the size of the liver and prevent injury to it.

    clear liquid diet

I agree with Pam. I'm almost done with Day 2 of clear liquids. I can have any thing I can see through, like AmandaD said and protein shakes mixed with only water. (I mixed unjury chicken soup flavor with broth and it was a god-send.)

I just wish I felt better. Its been a rough day, not just craving, but headache. That's been the worst. I'm hoping it improves tomorrow.

Maybe not keeping it a secret?

I was very adamant initially about keeping it a secret, but eventually gave up on that. With the exception of two people, I have received amazing support. I needed it just to help my nerves. After years of looking the same- overweight- I'd be sorting through so many excuses.

    Very nervous!

I'm having surgery the same day. I'm nervous too...my husband is scared. I think it's normal. I'm sorry you don't feel support from other people in your life. Message me if you need to...right now we have parallel lives!

It just depends on the surgeon.

    Pre-op diet

Three weeks on clear liquids?!? Or 3 weeks until clear liquids?
  18. 9 days until surgery 4 days until clear liquid diet starts Last night, while on the road for a quick visit with my in laws, my usually stoic and calm husband put his hand on my knee, I squeezed his hand and looked at his face. He was crying. I asked what was wrong and he replied, "It's getting close, and I'm scared." I was so grateful to hear this, because it was the first time HE brought it up for discussion. He's always listened and told me he supports my decision. But this was different and I learned a few things about him. First, he blames himself for my weight problem, even though I was fat for years before we met. (While he is overweight, he has some phobias related to food, and his diet is similar to a children's menu, and very limited in variety.) I assured him it was not the case and emphasized that I am responsible, and no one else, to get better. Secondly, He's scared of losing me in surgery, and of losing some of our food related bonding, like Giordano pizza in Chicago, and having me test his homemade Finnish bread. Third, he wants to support me by changing some of his bad habits related to food. (Any ideas how I could swing that to "finish one home improvement project before starting a new one"? Let me know...lol.) I needed that talk. It was support from where I needed it the most at the best possible time. For months, my biggest cheerleaders in this were my best friend, and his sister. It's so good to know this wonderful man is on board too. It's really helping me believe I can do this.

    Wls experts

I recently saw someone complaining that someone was cheating with mash potatoes. The nutritionist had them on our list. We were told no straws or carbonation...until 6 months. Some programs say never again...who knows?
  21. Pre-op appointments with nutritionist and surgeon. Tests went well, vitamin defiencies were resolved...

    Psych Eval :/

I have worked with people who have had WLS on the psych unit where I work. I have only heard of the psych eval being failed when there was a history of chronic self injury and severe personality disorder.
  23. 18 days and counting, nervously.

    Insurance question

Yep...call, be very, very polite and charming they can't get too upset about a polite inquiry. I probably could be post op right now if I would have called when I thought things were taking too long. I found out I was forgotten for a few weeks at one of the steps. When I called, I got the appointment date I was needing the next day.
