...my brother also had a benign brain tumor, near the pituitary. His caused infertility because of the prolactin production. It can cause lactation.

I work in a hospital as a mental health counselor. I know some of the female patients have had that reaction to some psych meds (antidepressants, antipsychotics, antianxiety.) If you are on any meds, report it to the prescribing doc and see if it could be that.

Itsy Bitsy Baby Step Of Progress

I'm a counselor on an acute psychiatric care facility. Mentioned to doctor I don't want to risk getting injured by a client too early in the process. It's not an everyday thing that we get someone agitated/aggressive but it happens. When I was pregnant, staff and even patients who knew me were protective. If someone acted out, I was shuffled to a locked area and was exempt from restraints and agitated patient code responses. Unsure if they will be as accommodating with this... -
I'm waiting. Waiting for my doc's office to submit my information to my insurance then i'll be waiting for a date. My surgeon is already scheduling in LATE January. I started this whole process over 5 months ago, where they said it would take approximately 4 months. I'd be more patient had the delays not been the result of clerical missteps and the fact that they can't tell me what more my insurance might require me to do, if anything at all. Getting more anxious as I get more time to think. I'm finding that sharing with friends and family is getting easier though and people are over all supportive, even congratulatory, with one exception. I have been lurking on this forum for sometime...my first post.

It's sad. I have had the meanest stuff said to me about my weight. Shame comes with the territory.

Two weeks? Wow...my doc said 4 with the first appointment. He seemed to suggest a bit more because my job is somewhat dangerous at times. -
I'm not complaining really. Ok, I am...but the date was not completely unexpected. I work in a psych ward, so being on leave at Xmas would have been sweet. But really, 7 months wasn't horrible.

That's my anniversary! Congratulations...keep in touch, I will be just a week ahead of you! I started the process in July also...I figure clerical mistakes cost me about 5 weeks. The surgeon was booked 9 weeks out.

Makes sense. I was a teacher too...I miss Christmas break...and SUMMER! And weekends, and holidays! But seriously... I wanted Christmas, because I never get the full holiday off, but I will take February. I really am not one to pig out at Christmas. One of the few bad eating habits I had gotten control of, but I knew it was going to be a challenge. How long did your doc estimate you will be off work? My doc said he wanted me off for four weeks, at least. -

Did they tell you why you were declined?

I'm so used to the shame of my weight, I cannot bring myself to post it, or even talk in public (like at support group) about what it is or how much I want to lose.

I was shooting for January 7th because it is my birthday and would seem perfect, but oddly enough I got Feb 7th. I don't belong on this board, but congrats and best wishes to those getting surgery this month and next!

Itsy Bitsy Baby Step Of Progress

Thank you! I am a little relieved that my first challenge right after having surgery ISN'T Christmas, just Valentine's Day (which is my wedding anniversary.) -
For the most part, mine too, but wow, some horror stories I have heard in support groups. I think there was even a post in this thread where the person's surgery was billed after it was over and they were told approval does not guarantee payment! Why on earth then did they even waste the person's time by making them submit if they were not going to pay?!?? Scary!
-
They did it all for me, but I called to make sure things were submitted on my own. When my surgeon's office was supposed to call the first time, I waited three weeks before I learned they forgot to call, a process that should have only taken a day or less. They were really nice both times I called.
-
That's too bad. The woman I spoke with was really nice. I wonder if that guy has an issue with people who are overweight. I can't imagine what would take 30 days. Maybe call and talk to someone else.

I have a great husband, a daughter, lots of family nearby. I was hoping for earlier, but there were some delays, and they were really booked up.

My doc is apparently very popular...some of the docs were scheduled as much as 11 weeks out I heard. -
I just got told I was approved and my surgery was scheduled for February 7th!!!!! So relieved!!!!
-
Ugh! The wait sucks. I got lucky...2 days. Hope the same for you.
-
I called BCBS and they told me my claim was submitted on 11.30.12, and I could expect 3-4 business days. I got approved today, 12.5.12...so, really about 2-3 days.

You have a great attitude...you'll do great when the time comes.

Anyone able to tolerate hot or spicy food after recovery from RNY surgery? I have never heard anyone ask this, but I've seen a few chili recipes and some people using taco seasoning...
-
Lol...I'd try green lemons!
