I had my RNY 1/29 also' date=' from what everyone is telling the gas,and loud stomach noises are normal. I have daily BMs but they are still loose as well. I think our GI systems are just saying" what the hell".It's really great talking to others that had surgery the same time as me![/quote']Hello surgery buddy. Mine was on 1/29 also. My stomach noises are insanely loud sometimes too.

Thank you guys so much. I don't mind if I have to order it, but I just thought that I would see if anyone had noticed it in stores anywhere.

I finally came home' date=' had my band to bypass revision on 1/31. I discharged Friday and was re-admitted Friday night... Thanking everyone for placing me in God's hands!!!! I still have the drain but removed the Q-pack this morning... My discomfort is now how I hear everyone else saying the burning and tenderness to the left side.... Just do glad to be home....[/quote']Most of my tenderness has subsided but the burning on my left side has not. It burns worse when I sneeze, some positions that I move, and sitting down. Thank the good Lord that I have had no complications, but boy is the burning something else. I try to walk as much as I can. I even managed a trip to Wal-Mart last night. What is the deal with the burning?!
-
It has been difficult for me to get all of my fluids in too. I feel full sometimes after drinking my Water, so I try to "save room" for my Protein. My husband and I went to Wal-Mart this evening and I was fine until the walk to our car. I started to get worn down and sore then but I'm fine now. Maybe we overdid it? You fell?! Are you okay?!

I live in Yadkinville. It is about 20 miles or so from Winston-Salem.

I too was told that the heaviest instruments are used on the left side and that they have to go through muscle on the left side as well. I am still very tender there, especially when getting up and down out of a chair or our bed. It burns more than anything else right now but I am sure that it will be better within a few more days. I am only four days post-op right now.

I had my surgery on January 29 at 7:30am and was home by 4:00pm on the 30th. Thankfully, I had no complications and everything went very smoothly. As someone said before though, it greatly depends on your surgeon and each person's individual situation. I live about 55 miles from my surgeon, so I was right at the cut off distance of being allowed to go home the next day. If you don't feel comfortable going home after one day then I suggest asking for another night if possible.

Having a hard time getting my fluids in let alone anything else. Happy to be home though. At least I got some good sleep last night.I too am having trouble getting anything down. I literally have to force myself to eat. It is such a strange feeling for me to feel full and satisfied after only three to four bites. I am now two days post-op and still a little sore and uncomfortable, but it's nothing unbearable. I still haven't pooped yet though. I can poot like nobody's business I just can't poop. Anyone else having or have had this problem?

Yay! I am now post-op and home. I was a lot sorer than I thought I would be because I was in recovery for a couple of hours. I don't remember much aboutShoot, I wasn't finished. lol I don't remember much about being in recovery other than being in a lot of pain and groaning a lot. lol I was able to walk up and down the hall about five times last night once I got over being so groggy. It helps, trust me! I ate ice chips and nothing else until this morning. I was brought Popsicles, Jell-O, Decaf coffee, and Crystal Light for Breakfast but all I could tolerate at the time was ice chips. For lunch I got down about two bites of creamy Soup and two little plastic cups of Carnation Instant Breakfast. I have absolutely no appetite whatsoever so I'm having to force myself to drink Water. I am looking forward to losing the gas pains and swelling. Good luck to everyone! We can do this!

My prayers are with you! No' date=' you are not the only person with these feelings, I am extremely scared, feelings are all over the place.... Just know it's in Gods hands and were headed to a new beginning! Please keep us updated. I'm scheduled for Thursday @ 1030![/quote']
I will be praying for you! I will try to post my experience along with the others so that it may be a comfort to you and others.

To those of you having RNY tomorrow' date=' I'll be right there with you except not an RNY, hysterectomy + lymph nodes. Then praying results come back as stage 1 cancer so all will be removed during the surgery. 3rd time going under anesthetics in under 2 months. So, I am worried that I won't open my eyes to see my daughter again. I have to be there at 730, surgery at 10. So here's to all us mummy's that will return home to see our babies in a couple days. We are strong, we are woman. There is nothing stronger than a woman fighting for her children.Gen :-) 12/15/12[/quote']
My prayers are with you warrior. I pray that your surgery goes well and that your results are what you wish.

I wasn't worried about the pain' date=' the puking, anything. I was ready for it all. I was terrified of leaving my daughter at my dads the day of surgery and never seeing her again. I was terrified! It's normal I think. I woke up from surgery and I fought my ass off to get home to her as soon as possible (less than 24hrs after surgery I was home). I'm 2 weeks post op today and have had a seriously smooth ride. I've lost 21lbs since surgery almost 18in over all. And I was out and about slowly but out with my daughter the day after I came home.I hope this find you coming up for surgery a little less overwhelmed and frightened.[/quote']
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I too am terrified of leaving our four year old son in the morning and never seeing him again. I got very emotional while tucking him into bed last night, so I am sure that tonight will be even worse. However, I know that if I don't do something to help me get the weight off that I most likely won't be here to see him graduate from college or get married. I have vowed that I WILL come home on Wednesday even if I have to walk my legs into bloody stumps. LOL Your post has reassured and comforted me. Thank you!

I love you guys! Thank you for the support.

@wheathin I am also going tomorrow and the surgery isn't what I have concerns about. My prayers are with you sweetie. Are you worried about the anesthesia? That is what worries me.

I am less than 24 hours away from my RNY and to be honest I don't know whether I'm scared or not. The biggest part of me is just ready to get the ball rolling and have that part over with. The other part of me is wondering what happens to my family if for some unknown reason that I don't make it out of surgery. Is anyone else or was anyone else worried about this as well? We all know that there is a risk, but I pray that the benefits far outweigh the risks for me. I have to be at the hospital at 5:30am for my 7:30am surgery which means the hubby and I have to be on the road by 4:00am. Ugh! At least I will have more time to recover which means I will work my butt off to come home on Wednesday.
My prayers are with you all, as always, but especially my fellow surgery buddies that will be going in tomorrow. I will try to keep you guys updated the best I can. ????

Ok I'm post op now!!! I had surgery yesterday at 7:30am. I had some trouble coming out of anesthesia. My hubby and the nurses said I was really goofy and loopy. I had a lot of the gas pains yesterday and this morning but I had my barium swallow at 7:30 today and now I am sipping on Water so wonderful. I love Water always have and I was glad that I can still tolerate it. Starting to fall asleep so gonna go back to bed. Thanks for all your support and prayers.I am glad that you did well and are feeling better. Way to go.

This liquid diet is for the birds. I feel your pain. My surgery is on the 29th so I am on day 6 of my 10 day liquid diet. I am beginning to get really crabby and irritable. My poor husband has been great, bless his heart! Hang in there sweetie. We can do this!

Ok' date=' I made it and am now officially on the post-op side!!!!! Surgery went great and I have pretty much slept the day away. Pain is tolerable for the most part and when it gets a little pit of hand, I just ask for more pain mess. Hoping to get up and walk soon, I am getting sick of sitting in this bed. I will post more tomorrow when I am not so out of it from the pain meds. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers, I could not have done this without you all!!!!![/quote']Congratulations! You did it! I am so happy for you.

I think we need to start saying in the pre op threads to remember that WLS doesn't make your body perfect. You are still going to dislike certain parts of your body. In fact I bet if you ask a size 2 woman what she dislikes about her body she can still come up with ten answers. Whenever I start to feel those negative body thoughts creep into my head I force myself to remember the woman who had the confidence to not only appear in public in a bathing suit before WLS but who had the courage to say enough is enough and get the surgery done. stretch marks are evidence of earning my tiger stripes and they are not bat wings' date=' they are angel wings. Lord knows with being overweight and having surgery I ve been through the jungle and through hell and made my way out.[/quote']Thank you for this! I never thought about just how negative the term " bat wings" sounds or how it may serve as a negative influence on someone else. You're right; we're all brave for having the strength to reclaim our lives and get healthy. We have all made it this far, so there is no need to beat ourselves up. Thank you again.

I have always wanted to try Zumba but I am too afraid that the very sight of it will cause animals and small children to seek immediate shelter. LOL
