yes. I found the unjury actually has become tasty with crystal light. The chicken soup flavored with water is also really quite good. Glad you are doing well. Elizabeth

Hey Poohlvr, Thanks for all the organizing you do on the lists. I am sure we all appreciate it.:clap2: Elizabeth

It's been 4 days since I was banded and I haven't had a diet coke. For all you to be banders it really hasn't been that bad. People at work used to make fun of my diet coke habit and I really worried that would be the hardiest part. I did try to get some to go flat incase of emergency, but they have been sitting open on my counter and still have fizz if I shake them. Amazing how much carbonation must have been in there. I am having a hard enough time getting all the fluid in my Dr. wants me too without caffeine. I am worried a little about working because at home I can nap. I guess I can always crush up a caffiene pill in my water if I have to. Best of luck to everyone. Elizabeth:)

Sharon, I was banded on the 10th as well. I was never so glad to get out of the hospital. There was a poor nursing student who had to change one of my bandages before I left and it took her 30 minutes. I know she was a student so I really couldn't let it bother me, but at the same time I was so ready to get home!! So far the only cravings for food I get are mental. I know I really couldn't eat anything, but I would like a good hamburger. I am glad I live by myself. It would be tempting for me to take a bite of my husbands burger. Hope all continues to go well. Elizabeth.:clap2:

So I got banded on the 10th. It went really well. Thankfully I have had very few problems, but I am staying home all week. I do admire any of you that go back to work after a few days. I am very glad I stuck with the descion to get banded. The night I was in the hospital after my operation I was up walking around and they brought up a lady who had just had gastric bypass. Evidently things had not gone well for her because the surgeon were all in the room talking about it (I wasn't hanging around eavesdropping, but it made a big scene). She was in so much pain she screamed all night. Now I realize that that could have happened to anyone and it could have happened with the band, but it made me very happy with my choice.

Just wondering if any of y'all (and yes I'm from the south) had to only have Clear liquids the 24 hours before surgery. I am having a hard enough time with the pre-op diet. I can see why they would want people to do it for the gastric bypass, but it doesn't make since for the lap band. Anyway I am going to do it. Just wondering if any of you had the same directions. 2 days to go:whoo: Elizabeth (on a personal note: I think it should be agaisnt the law for men to lie about being married. If they say they aren't married and it turns out they are they should have to go to jail for a very long time...)

NSAIDS are non-steriodal anti-inflammatory drugs (aleve,ibuprofen, aspirin, etc.) -
Don't think it is that odd to want some texture. Don't beat yourself up.

Thanks for all your input. I do have a sweet tooth but am more than sweets I like carbs. From what I have read the gastric bypass have the dumping syndrome from sweets not carbs, so in the end I am stuck with the same problem. Anyway I have spent a lot of time researching it and really think that bypass is way to drastic for me. I think you guys were right the bypass has the quicker result but in the end I think lap band is right for me. Glad we all have each other for support:clap2:. Elizabeth

I haven't told any of my family. This has been a very difficult decision for me. the reason I haven't is because my family is very critical of my weight. I know that I couldn't tell my parents without them bringing it up at every family function and sadly I couldn't trust them to keep it to themselves. I really didn't want to have to go to family weddings, etc and have people talking about how I had to get surgery to lose weight. Did anyone else struggle with this?

I find this surgery to be very personal. I would love to feel comfortable telling people but I don't. For now I plan to tell people that I am just watching my carbs and portion sizes.

Hi everyone. I am getting banded on Sept. 10th. I am mostly nervous that 1. after all the work it took to get time off something will happen and my surgery will get canceled and 2.what if I don't lose weight this time. Glad to have a group out there to go through this with. Elizabeth.

I am a huge diet coke addict myself. When I decided to have the surgery I gave it up to see if I could do it. I did it for about 3 weeks and then decided that I might as well let myself drink it until the surgery. I proved to myself I could stop. I have to admit I actually got depressed during those 3 weeks. I missed the "happy bubbles" and whatever kick diet coke gives. (and it wasn't the caffeine cause I substituted coffee). I think it will get easier as time goes on and trading diet coke for weight loss is a no brainer for me. (but it is still hard)
