Omg this woman is driving me nuts on recovery
mom2lucky (suznc) replied to workingmotherofthree's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There were some pain hollering folks on my nursing unit. I wanted to tell the nurse to give them my meds so they could calm down. Hope your neighbor gets fixed up soon so you can rest. -
Crystal Light Saved My Life
mom2lucky (suznc) replied to libra_lisa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Those aren't calcium citrate & are high in sugar. I can't find a chewable calcium citrate locally - only from the Internet. I did find a liquid ca citrate called Wellesse but it is blended with ca phosphate so need to ask my doc about it Friday to see if RNY patients can absorb it. It's sugar free too. The Internet ca citrate chewables are so expensive. -
Random- itchy bumps after rny?
mom2lucky (suznc) replied to Natasha K's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a few spots & itch like crazy at times especially where I can't reach. Grrrr. I kind of wondered if it is some sort of toxin release. I only had pain meds in recovery - nothing after that & I am almost 2 months out so can't be drug related. No staples or steri strips, just glue that has been long gone. i just wish it would go away. I see my doc on Friday so will add this to the question list. -
Collagen - right!! I wrote the wrong thing. Mine would be extra gross. Lol

Be careful & read the label. Usually the quality of protein is poor for RNY pts. We need whey isolate or blend with concentrate. Most of those have cellulose which is not good for our needs. Body can only absorb 30 gms of protein at a time so anything in excess is wasted.

I hate protein shakes :-(

You can buy single serve samples of Protizyme at Nashua Nutrition online. You can try the different flavors for $1.95 each rather than buy a whole tub. They sell Syntrax samples & others as well. It really helped me out 'cause ones I thought would be good really weren't. -
Try http://Pinterest.com/mom2farfel I was able to get there that way. Two of my co workers found me with my name last week so not sure what's up now.

I had some whole wheat this morning. It went down well with SF preserves. Be sure & check label. Some breads have more sugar than others. Haven't tried pasta -
I looked for that app but apparently it's only available for Android Hopefully they create an ios app too.

Overeating since im gonna have surgery
mom2lucky (suznc) replied to Smilejoelle1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Cmarie you are so right. I went out tonight to try filet mignon for first time since since surgery and 7 ozs might as well of been a roast! I could hardly eat 1 oz because I also had 2 shrimp (out of 4). The steak was very tender & i chewed well so pouch was good with it. Good news is I can have it again over the next few days. Lol -

return to work
mom2lucky (suznc) replied to jonessl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I took 6 weeks & was happy I could. I had a good handle on food & water at that point & knew what my pouch would tolerate for lunch & snack schedule. Water is hard because I get so busy but now I take my water bottle everywhere & that helps. -
Hunger dorsnt go away?
mom2lucky (suznc) replied to lisaarellano's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
RNY does arrest the production of the hormone but after several months, production starts up again. That's why it's called the honeymoon period - hunger hormone suppressed. Most hunger early out is head hunger although I am now beginning to tell when I go too long without food (surgery 11/27/12) -
Relationships after rny!
mom2lucky (suznc) replied to vbgirl264's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got divorced several years ago after losing 100 lbs (29 yr total relationship). Long story but I finally had courage to move on due to my accomplishments with weight & working out. I had so little self confidence under all that weight, i never believed i could make it on my own but i did. I met my current man around the time I was at my smallest & proceeded to gain everything back + more. We lived 3 hrs apart so back & forth made it hard to workout, eat right, etc. My guy stuck with me even though i got so fat & moved here over a year ago & is excited about our new healthier lifestyle. (He's only 15 lbs overweight) He bought us both mountain bikes & I can't wait for warmer weather so we can hit the trails. -

mom2lucky (suznc) replied to Smilejoelle1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't have to do preop diet either. Surgery went very well too. Good luck with your surgery -
You might want to friend some people om my fitness pal. A lot have their food diaries open to friends. Use search on RNY talk to find threads with my fitness pal as topic so you can find other members. It's a great tool for tracking intake & exercise. I am mom2lucky on MFP but I didn't start tracking food until about a month out. Now I'm religious about it.
